Only ever done one Northern diagram with an Adelante (180103) and that was a few weeks ago. The standard areas were pretty full, but the de-branded first class section was ironically empty

Nothing to do with that, its the fact that Class 180s are on Blackpool-Manchester Victoria and Preston-Hazel Grove, which is a local stopper. The Class 185s have nothing to do with it really. The Class 180s are on the service because of when the Class 175s worked with TP Express a few years back, so the 180s didnt need testing seeing as they have the same axle load, and Northern were too lazy a cheapskate to test other units on the route
