  • i can buy alienware m14x with a price of this !

  • the price is WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY off ok so 13 inch screen 128 gb flash storage for what oh thats right $1300 WAT DA FUCK APPLE 13 inch screen for that price need to take off about 200 dollars than we will talk 13 inch scrren is tiny im using 15 inch and want a bigger screen

  • I have a feeling this is the direction the new macbook pros are headed.

    Next macbook pro specs:

    15hr Battery on heavy wifi

    High Res LED screen

    Flash Memory

    Drooolll.......

    Technology just never stops

  • @asianmovement

All for just 3 easy payments of $2,000.00! I can't wait to mortgage my house for one!

  • @brewskhee haha true true... this world is all about money.

  • @asianmovement I just got hard over imagining that on a macbook pro...... (if it costs under 2,000) :(

  • Awesome idea, but still too expensive for the lack of hardware. Who is the target audience? I mean I'm sure they will sell millions because of Apple fanboys, but why should I get this over a still much cheaper netbook or even small laptop that has double the hardware?

Love the idea of SSD over HDD.

  • @brewskhee This is a big improvement over the old Macbook Air. I didn't think the old one was worth the price, but now it's a better value. If you can live without the SD card slot and only a 64GB SSD and a video dongle for a standard monitor, you can buy an 11 inch for $999 plus the cost of a dongle and external DVD if you need to load software from discs.

I don't see a competitor with the same thinness and lightness, instant on and SSD drives. Maybe next year.

  • @jaxo1

Is thinness and lightness worth the extra $500? Maybe if I were a midget or 90 years old.

  • @brewskhee It's a stylish laptop that people want that has more usable battery life than anything else of its size,

Not everyone wants just the cheapest laptop. Just like people try to buy a car they like instead of just whatever is the cheapest car sold and people don't only buy the cheapest pair of pants in a store.

  • @jaxo1

Would you buy a car that had worse features than another car half its price, just because it looked cooler?

Wait...I guess you have a point. People buy stuff to look cool, not because its a good product.

Logical? No. But then again when has stuff about computers been about logic?

    Wait...always.

  • @brewskhee Everyone has different preferences. You are a stupid cunt if you believe that the only viable option when purchasing a laptop is the one most powerful or cheapest.

  • @jesusluvr07

Jesus lover calling someone a cunt on a youtube comment board then doesn't bother to read my other follow-up comments already addressing his fury fueled argument. You win this one!

  • @brewskhee I think it has a good and profitable target audience. Obviously this target audience doesn't know and doesn't care about anything hardware related. I could definitely see my grandma and my sister buying this. They don't care about lack of hardware or low processor speeds, but they do want an ultra-thin laptop they can carry anywhere. A net-book may be small, but it is not as thin, its not as sturdy, and my grandma may get carpal-tunnel from small keyboards!!!

  • @yiyopr1

I agree, but I would just get my grandma the iPad if that were the case, since it is uber user friendly.

    Me? Never.

  • @brewskhee blah she could never learn how to type in that thing.

As for the car example, people buy cars with less than half the features for double the price all of the time. You can do more with a Ford that you could do with a Mercedes or Mini Cooper, but which would you choose? People do buy stuff to look good, and just because this looks cool doesn't mean its a bad product, its a trade off some people are willing to take. You don't see me towing my boat with my Mercedes do you?!

  • @yiyopr1

That was exactly my point, though. You COULD buy a Mercedes over another car with the same features, but you would be paying more than double for it.

However, the MacBook Air is not any Mercedes you can buy. If Mercedes were to create a car using the same parts that were in the Ford instead of their high quality parts (it would look like a Mercedes), then charged the same price as their other "legit" Mercedes, then that would be the MacBook Air. Would you buy it?

  • @brewskhee Wrong again my angry friend. Lets keep up with the analogy. You say that a Mercedes is not made form the same parts as a Ford, therefore it's superior? Well a Macbook air is made from a single solid block of aluminum, it has 4-5 batteries and solid state chips standard, it is no Ford, and it is readily comparable to a Mercedes. Or could you point me into a direction of another computer like it? As thin, with the same screen resolution for the size? With the graphics chip and battery?

  • @yiyopr1

I am not angry, I am an informatician and analyzing technology for practical use is basically what I do.

As for thinness, ok you got me there.

As for competitors? Alienware M11x ($949 one's hardware BLOWS the Air out of the water).

Lenovo ThinkPad X100e (less ram, but half the price).

ASUS Eee PC Seashell 1201N (under $500)...

Besides, the Air battery is not user changeable, no hdmi port, no DVI, no VGA, no optical drive, teeny-tiny disk space, awful default warranty ($420 upgrade)

  • @brewskhee It has a Video port and you use the adapter for what connection you want on it. No need to waste all that space on all extra ports when one can do all. I have a XPS 16 now, and only used it's drive to install things and never on the run. I personally see no use for one. And when you need it, and you will know ahead of time, take it with you. Batteries are replaceable but requires the cover to be removed. Not that hard. 256gb is more than enough space and it's SSD.

  • @NIZMOZ44

Video port requires an adapter ($20 from Apple...mo' money!).

I kind of agree with the drive deal but you still need one(another $79.99...from Apple again), and on top of that, it uses up one of the 2 USB ports on the thing.

You can only get 128gb SSD on 11" air, the 256gb is on 13" only.

So, in conclusion you are spending $2,268.83 for netbook.

What is the target audience? People with too much money?

  • @brewskhee Drive deal. Well many notebooks/netbooks do not have CDROMS anymore. You have to get externals. And any external USB drive will work. Most have a daisy chain type of USB cable, it takes one up, but gives you another. FYI, they already have upgrades for the SSD available on the net. It's upgradable. Video port supports whatever type of interface you need instead of limiting you to only ONE (RGB). You can pick and choose HDMI, or DVI, or RGB. You decide. I like that.

  • And last I checked you can get a Air for near $1200.

  • PS, we are talking about the 13" not the 11" anyways. 256GB.

  • @NIZMOZ44

Oh wait, I forgot the warranty...Paying $2,688.83 for it.

  • @brewskhee Not sure where you are getting your prices from but you are wrong. $999 for a base 11" MBP, 2gb ram, 64gb SSD. Or $1199 for 2gb and 128gb. Warranty, $200 at the most online.

  • @yiyopr1 premium price for premium product, thank you :)
