  • This version is million times creepier than the remake. That music is just so chilling and creepy also I like the staggering zombie to its racing successor in todays zombie flicks.

  • From 0:37 to 0:42 Francine complains that they don't even have food, water, nor a radio. Later on she's still pessimistic in spite of all the mall's luxuries when she's lucky enough just to have food and water.

  • love the soundtrack

  • At :58, wouldnt they know what a shopping mall is?. They one guy flies a traiffic helicopter, so he would fly over cities etc.

  • WAKE UP, SUCKAH!

  • Exactly, I remember seeing the first "indoor mall" and it was around 1978. Lakeside Mall in Sterling Heights, Michigan. SEARS was the only store there. That will always be a haunting memory for me now, thanks to "Dawn," the greatest movie ever imho.

  • pist shopper at 1.51

  • THe Roof looks like the new denver airport!

  • Wouldn't any helo, especially one used for traffic reporting, have a radio?

  • this is 1 of my fav parts of the movie, theres such a haunting vibe to the mall

  • good characters plus got scares the rednecks at the end are silly but they move the plot day of the dead was nothing but a straight horror movie

  • God so many parts are missing...

  • @KillaTequilla83 some copyright douchebags pulled #2 & #4

  • then mr torchic122 you can die and i can stay alive like all who have common sence to the undead hope when u get eaten its not as bad as most people

  • @jinx181 You got this confused with Tremors 2

  • Extended? I had this on VHS seems like the original to me. The DVD version is shortened.

  • zombies can get on top of buildings they will evenchaly pile up on top of one anether acourding to the zombie survival guied

  • @Jinx181 zombie survival guides BS

  • @Jinx181, Well the "Zombie Survival Guied" can kiss my sweaty ass.

  • This movie fills me with more imagination than any other movie (even Inception as much as i loved that).

I've never looked at malls the same way since i was a kid.

    MASTERPIECE.

  • @DLcKxFTR Exactly wat I was thinking. If there were "ppl" in there they'd be dead

  • lets go all the way in the dark room and wait a couple seconds to turn on the light, you got it! ;D 3:47

  • @DLcKxFTR

they were probably looking for it

  • This flick scared the hell out of me back in '78. Bad dreams & all. Now I look back & enjoy it for the classic that it is.The special effects are not that great but its still an awesome flick. I like these better than the new zombie movies where they have super strength & can run full speed. Nothing beats the classics. Question - Why would a mall have a helicopter landing pad on it?

  • I like zombies of various speeds..

I like the new and the original version of this. Rhames is good. The security guards are good replacements for the red necks in the original film.. kinda glad they got rid of the helicopter in the new one.. gives the characters more going against them..

favorite part of the new one.. the husband attacking the wife in her car then takes off to attack another unsuspecting neighbor.. hilarious!

  • @sweetsendaedreamr lol! i remember tht part he just turned and got the neibor, she was just standing there stupid as hell women, this is why they will never survive the apocolipse with out men.

  • Part 4 has sir-come to copy wrong.

  • DAMN YOU STARZ MEDIA!!!!

  • this film, with "night of the living dead" is one of my favourite one. Modern films with running and ultraspeed zombie arent scary at all.

    These are genius

  • @boubakar123456

original day of the dead is pretty messed up. it just has a slow take off but i really liked it.

  • IS THIS VERSION ON DVD

  • I NEVER get tired of this movie. Best zombie movie ever!

  • The black guy is the preacher on the TV in the 2004 Dawn of the Dead remake, I think!

  • maybe there were no extra scenes in parts 2 or 4 so he didn't bother to post?

    Ken Foree owns.

  • nice dued no 2 or 5 your great

  • @ JCDentonCZ: Yes, dude, the © is the cross for satanists, LOL.

  • LOL.. Dead Rising bit off this scene :)

  • no part 2 or 4?

  • Check mixedout01 youtube profile. Sometimes related videos doesn't work properly for that matter...

  • Ok, forget it. It's about copyright... Damn mother****rs...

  • @zombiblogia

I thought copyrights expired after 20 years or similar?

Bleh, in any case, copyrights are evil, and really go against development and original ideas.

  • Uh no, copyrights protect someone's ideas against plagiarism and theft. Just because it infringes your entertainment, don't be such a jew and go buy the damn movie if you want to watch it.

  • more like dead rising get its idea from this movie perhaps?

  • if you read the title of dead riseing it says this movie was not aprroved by gorge a romero the reson is beacuse its so simmiler

  • is it me or does the indoor mall kinda look like rising dead

  • Stephen, "What the hell is it?" LOL, The guy does traffic for the city and didn't know what the mall was, or what a mall is ?????? Always thought that was one stupid line.

  • Tom Savini picked up on that in a DVD commentary. He said "That line always gets a laugh with modern audiences. But back in 1978, these malls were quite a new thing and there werent that many around"

  • Well, it's not in his city. So you can't blame him.

  • It was 1978, do you honestly think they had the giant shopping centers of today everywhere? It's Monroeville, there is nothing there but bum and fuck, especially in the 70's. Could have been an office building or a military installation. There were hundreds of Nike Missile sites all over central PA.

  • The town is adjacent to the Pittsburgh corporate limits, and a well populated suburb, only a few miles from downtown Pittsburgh, even in the 70's. Also malls were already popular and established on the american landscape in the late 70's. Also traffic reporters for a major tv network covers more than just downtown or the innercity, and would absolutely know what the mall was just a few miles from downtown. So yeah, this steven character was an idiot. And "nike" missles ? ...

  • ...LOL, an assault with tennis shoes ? Besides, they wouldn't have a missle silo sitting in the middle of a suburb like that, and it sure wouldn't look like that lol. Nice try, but it was a dumb line, no ifs, ands, or butts.

  • Research, try some.

  • u burned monroeville lol

  • @havoc1310

"there is nothing there but bum and fuck"

Thank you, havoc. We have a new favorite to add to the lexicon.

  • @lesterclaypool1 bum fuck egypt...lol!

  • @CrownTownSouth420

I'm in Canada, so I've heard the name "Moosecrotch" to describe hick towns where, I think it's safe to assume that, there is nothing but bum and fuck lol.

  • @lesterclaypool1 Ive been in Canada and Hick towns, or 2 horse towns are known as '2 Tim Hortons' towns! At least they were back in 2006, and in Ontario

  • @neil73

Yes, they still measure population growth in Hortons. I guess that the beer store has a lot to do with population, too: If it's in an actual building, as opposed to a trailer, you can call yourself a town.

  • @lesterclaypool1 Thats good to know. I know the type of 'town' you speak of: one that springs to mind is 'Wawa', just off the trans-canadian highway 17. Lovely little town; I guess you'd be quite safe from zombies there!lol!

  • @neil73

Unless the giant goose came to life :).

(My wife is from Kapuskasing, not to far from Wawa)

  • @lesterclaypool1 OMG the Goose! I'd forgotten about that! God I miss Canada :(

  • @neil73

Why don't you petition the Crown to pay for a diplomacy visit?

We are still a Dominion of England, after all. Best to keep our kissing cousin status in good standing :).

  • @CrownTownSouth420 Or "butt fuck nowhere".

  • @TitaniumByFire He did the traffic for Philadelphia, this scene takes place well into Pittsburgh. Also malls weren't as frequent in the 70's as they are today, so it's isn't to illogical that he never saw one.

  • It skipped from part 1 to part 3 then from part 3 to part 5...? Are those parts missing, or under a different name?

  • @JakobsAccount they were removed for copyright

  • BUB for prez!

  • I thought it was this movie but it's not

  • Does anybody know the name of the old zombie movie where they were underground and a doctor was there "domesticating" one of the zombies...I remember he was trying to tame him and at the end the zombie learned how to use a gun when they killed the doctor

  • Day of the Dead 1985

  • @MsLoveMe27 that movie is day of the dead i think, i seen that movie b4

  • @MsLoveMe27

It's Day of the Dead, but the 1985 Version

  • @MsLoveMe27

    It's Day of the Dead ( Year 1985 )

  • Hey om495, Thanks for the tip there guy. When zombies take over the planet, I will be sure not to go to the mall & leave my chopper on the roof.

Its a movie with actors. Not reality !

  • @nenzi671. LOL =D, too true.

  • that guy looks like the guy from "THE OFFICE"which is showing in tv 20

  • For a hint for all people.

Shopping malls are not good places to stay, because of hteir lay out.

The zombies are there searching for prey, and the helicopter has probably attracted more.

    Still a great film

  • hey its not real, its only make believe

  • Actually they were pretty safe. The zombies couldn't get on top of the building, and that office and storage area was buffered from the rest of the mall, so all they had to do was lay low in there and enjoy the food and warmth. It also gave them time to rest the helicopter, which was was their quick escape if they had to, and rest their bodies and give them time to think of a future plan. The problem is that they got too greedy and bold.

  • Dang this is crazy, I do not know were to go if this happened... LOL

  • i would hav shot myself by then

  • LOL why?

  • @TitaniumByFire um. and the rockers showed up.

  • @TitaniumByFire To a degree. The biker gang fucked up the plans all around.

  • @funkybunny9966 True. Too bad they weren't thinking more broadly about the possibility of scavengers and were prepared better for that.

  • @TitaniumByFire Given the situation what more could they do? They dealt with what they had.

  • @TitaniumByFire i think it would have been ok for them to take a small amount of money and a watch plus some quality guns and ammo but yes they did get to greedy and although they were greedy i still would have gotten the mall blocked off because it would be boring to stay there for the time they were there

  • Comment removed

  • @TitaniumByFire dude im 13 did i really wanna hear that lol

  • @bigd5000100 go play outside take up paintball or skateboarding, no more youtube until your 16

  • @cj397 paintball??? i got real guns why play that

  • @TitaniumByFire earlier all those cops should have stuck together. this was quite a movie & adventure.

  • I have to admit, Great Soundtrack

    they all scrwed lol

  • shut now y dont ya u bloody sucka jusssst husssh it you bloke. why yous says wut yous says about porno sites huh?? mate???

  • WE DONT EVEN HAVE A RADIO!!!! LMAO..

  • The idea of using a mall is simple, brilliant and effective. Enclosed Malls must have still been a fairly modern concept in the US in the 1970s. When's somebody going to make a good horror film around a modern invention like the internet?

  • where's part 4?

  • Ah, it seems only the malls of the 70s have guns.

  • " I'm Joe Grizley Bitch! "

  • I keep thinking Devil's Den, but what movie is that line from?

  • the halloween remake with rob zombie

  • Gettysburg

  • A shopping mall that just happens to have a helicopter landing pad? What for? When is the last time anyone saw one of those?

  • @nenzi671 I work in a shopping mall and we have a helicopter pad. It's for emergency rescues.

  • i loved the new dawn of the dead but this original is fantastic, one of my favourite romero films

  • where's part 6?

howcome your missing soo many charpters?

  • NOOOO i'll never know what happened in parts 2 and 4 xD lol

  • thanks!

  • when did they made this movie?

    and who made this?

  • George A. Romero

  • 1978

    George A. Romero

  • it was made in 1978 and it was made by written and directed by George A.

  • is he Dr House??

  • nope

  • No no no no, Hugh Laurie would've been 20 years old in this film.

That is David Emge, his last film was Hellmaster in 1992.

  • your mistaken that is the new one this is the original

  • devilssoldierRIP this is the REAL dawn of the dead the ORIGINAL dawn of the dead the BEST dawn of the dead XD

  • that is a remake you fuckin tard

    this is the original

  • This is the ORIGINAL DAWN OF THE DEAD... The one your talking about is an remake and this is by the same person.

  • Tom Savini, italian master

  • Flagging 4 parts of the movie? Are you serious? Can someone ban the flaggers from youtube please? I bet they are the same people who talk on their cell phones at the theater or bring their kids to a rated R movie. No regard for other people...UGH.

  • And they probably did it only after they watched the entire thing. Pisses me off something feirce

  • hey look for "freezombiemovies" that channel has atleast the first few parts unflagged

  • Can you imagine all the giant SUVs and pickups we have now fitting into those tiny parking spaces?

  • F**k the SUV fashion.. what are they for? Talking your kids to school... geez aren't we idiots

  • the parking spaces are bigger than they look in the movie. I have been here several times

  • lol at 1:55 a zombie powns a shopping cart

  • Those retarded morons who keep flagging the good parts!!!

  • Dam they left out such cool parts why flag films if you dont like it dont watch but dont ruin its for everyone else

  • Funny how they jump down into that room with out having any idea how to get back up to the Chopper :P

  • i love the funny music they put on lmao.and that blonde woman is so stupid so is her hubby

  • Stephen and Fran are not married

  • they were engaged to get married in part 15 but in part 18 stephen was killed in the JCPenney elevator by the zombie. and was sho by one of the biker people

  • actually, she refused his proposal, as she tought it wasn't the right time for stuff like that

  • the music is perfect!

the zombies + argento so sick!

  • slower zombies moaning is creeeepy

specially the kid zoimbies (sad and creepy)

but fast running shrieking zombies who can climb -thats just not scary or fair for the living

  • remake version sucks... zombies are fast in that... they can drive a car... lol

  • I got a chance to meet Romero himself and I asked him what he thought of zombies being able to run, he said, "Zombies just came back from the dead, they don't want to join a gym..ZOMBIES CAN'T RUN!"

  • So agree!!!

  • im not agree with romero's answer, cause if they die and comeback to life why they still hungry? why eat humans flesh? how they recognize who is living and who is dead? another thing im not agree is why the people got scare in this zombie's movies? they just have to get guns and hide, if you wait for a few days the zombies will be enough rotten and they wont be able to walk run or eat . so piss off romero's zombies. but i love the movies anyways

  • well, if you go by day of the dead, they're hungry because their brains have mostly shut down, and only the most basic instincts remain intact. the zombies are hungry because their instincts say so, even though their digestive organs have shut down, making it impossible for them to do anything with the food.

as to why they want human flesh, i have no idea! haha. that's the movies for you i guess.

  • dude they become animals there brain only tells them to surive any way and eating is the main way to live for all life and they dont just eat humans anything thell get there hands on

  • The doctor in Day of the Dead clears all those questions up.

  • i mean, one of the zombies in day knows how to use a gun,lol

  • zombies in dawn of dead are way slower and dumber then those in day of the dead

  • haha "wake up sucka" classic!

  • i too

  • this part reminds me of dead rising XD

  • I think the reason the old ones are better is because you have to try harder aka since they had bad graphics they have to make it up with everything else excuse my bad grammer

  • christ how tall is peter

  • well

in the part where there gonna block the entrance's roger says:

hey how did we get in the same unit anyway?

    peter answers:

u midgets needes someone to look up to :p

  • yeah lmao good movie

  • IMDB says 6' 5" that is one big dude. a whole foot taller than I am.. yikes.

  • Comment removed

  • fair enough.. but I don't know if its possible.

  • yeah if zombies are real what else is possible

  • well.. hopefully the zombies will hit some useless, island country like England first.

  • Comment removed

  • lol if zombie att country tht do not sell guns, humans will hav a hard time killing zombies since most do not hav the courage to slice the zombies

  • 2:44

    Nuclear power for the MALL?

    ...

Well, there ARE zombies, so I guess anything is possible.

  • baleve it or not zombies r real but not the u get bit you die zombies just people tortured to the brink of death and they become primal and bite everything they can find like people dogs even trees and houses.............. and the nuclear thing ment a nuclear reactor for the whole city

  • Actually, if you want to talk about real zombies, Google search "Clairvius Narcisse" Absolutely blew my mind when I first read about it.

  • and i fergot about the massave doses of drugs voodo prists give the people to to drive them mad
