Upgrade iphone 3gs to 4.1 without updating Baseband

@byungxXXxdal hi you can upgrade with following versions.

4.1 and ios 5. but use if you want to keep the same baseband for future unlock use only custom firmware which is creating by Snowbreeze. just google it.

and if you want to go for other than above mentioned versions, you might have saved your shsh blob. if not no way to restore with other versions.

I have an 8GB iPhone 3G running 4.0.2 on 05.13.04 bb and it is really laggy and slow. I have heard that If I upgrade to 4.1 it would be much faster? And can I upgrade my iPhone to 4.1 without updating the baseband?

@kathleen251 hi i think now you can upgrade with snowbreesze2.1(to create custom firmware) so you will not get you baseband upgraded....

@ktharis ok thanks! (: i just downloaded the 4.1 firmware, so i use sn0wbreeze for a cfw? I also downloaded tinyumbrella and saved all my shsh blobs. But how do I upgrade the version to 4.1?

after creating custom just download "iREB r4" (google it), then just put your iphone in DFU mode. after open iREB r4.exe choose iphone 3g then wait to finish the process. once you get the confirmation. just open itunes Press shift+Restore then show your custom firmware. thats it...

just google for...

1. sn0wbreeze 2.2 and download it

2. and download 3gs firmware 4.2.1 from apple site of google it...

3. and create a custom firmware. for your iphone 3gs.(when you create the custom choose the option"baseband preserve method)

4. then follow the screen to put your phone in DFU mode.

5 restore with custom firmware.

6. finally unlock with ultrasn0w 1.2...

@ktharis I downloaded sn0wbrezee and made a CF using

preserve baseband method do i just restore the iphone 4 by shift click on

rstore on itunes and finding the CF? will that keep my 1.59 bb?

let me know did you save SHSH for your iphone 3gs 4.1 version???? if not you are not able to restore with firmware 4.1, so just download the latest tinuymbrella( just google it) then connect your phone and press button "Save SHSH" and see that you have saved the shsh backup for 4.1, if not just contact me on ktharis @ g mail

i tried once successfully done.

again on same phone it's not success, the phone return to recovery mode again.

but again another try, i remove cable about after 34 sec it successful, thankyou verymuch.

too not loose you data do a backup before itunes and just restore backup when done . too not loose cydia packages use a app like pkgbackup from cydia , run it then sync with itunes and after your done rejailbreak then get that app again and restore your backup :) sinmple as that . i think pulling the plug like that is stupid , if you pull it too soon you will have incomplete firmware and your device will not run right . so do it the right way :)

this is stupid , you dont need to pull the plug like that , just run tss server , open itunes hold shift and click restore . select you 4.1 firmware and let it go . you will get 1004 error after it done then you just click kick device out of recovery and wait till it load and after you reactivate it your device will be on 4.1 with 01.59.00 baseband still . tinyumbrella perserves your baseband when used right , you get that error msg cause it doesnt allow the baseband to be updated .

@iluna1988 its not with custom firmware.....just original firmware 4.1 from apple.....but if you want to go for this method you have to make sure u saved SHSH for your device.....check with tinyumbrella. just google it

for 16gb just use 32sec.

for 32gb 38sec. it will be perfect. if not working just try again by adding 3 sec.

Followed the instructions to a T and the phone got stuck in recovery mode. I guess I will have to go through a regular upgrade and give up the baseband. Risky solution...

Put in DFU mode again and then try again... i had the same problem first time i tried because i disconnected too early. Second time worked.

@kstsn hi just try again. and once you see the screen saying "restoring iphone firmware" then start counting 33 sec. but tell me are you doing in from your desktop or laptop??? are you using usb 2 or old usb port??? waiting for your answer...
