I think on a very basic level, Steinbergers are the perfect guitars. They are virtually indestructible(at least the originals) and they were designed to have a neutral EQ for a variety of tone-shaping. Aesthetically, they are not for everyone, but the originals have got to be the most rugged things ever made. On the level of pure practicality, they are unequaled in my opinion. Worry-free workhorses.
I think you can, but they as far as I know, they are hard to get and very expensive. I was told this when I asked Uli Teuffel around 3 years ago about ordering a Tesla with a TransTrem. It added 1,000 more to the project.
they indeed do still sell the transtrem (not the original) On the steinberger ZT-3 custom guitar. but they cost on average $2,600. On eBay you can occationaly find an original Transtrem for around $1,000.
you can still buy the XS-Trem. the transposing function is missing but it's a floating tremolo bridge with locking function. It's a remake of the Steinberger S-Trem.
What the hell is wrong with Gibson!I havent played a Synapse but Gibson should start making these Steinbergers again to the original specs.Ive heard so many horror stories about the musicyo Steinbergers that I couldnt bring myself to buy one.If Gibson was to start making these in the US and really paid attention to detail in making them like they do with the Les Pauls,Id have no problem spending the money for one.
Really!?I had no idea.Ive never owned a gibson but you would think that at least the les pauls would have the best qc since thats gibsons most famous guitar. Its too bad about steinbergers though. And too bad for fans like me that always wanted one but couldnt get one for one reason or another.
i get really annoyed when these guitars and bass's are advertized as practice models. I have the bass version of this and the guitar version to, and i can tell you they are some of the nicest instruments ive ever played..i love how they look, im 35 i grew up in the 80s glued to MTV and saw guys play these things and was in awe..the fact they are so easy to maintain is a bonus..hohner makes a very nice copy of these too.
Ever listen to Leslie West's work with his Steinberger? Best tone I've ever heard. Check the Night of the Guitar concert series. Leslie West - Theme From an Imaginary Western. You'll love that tone folks I promise :) Go to Mountains Fan Club site: thegreatfatsbies dot com or right here in youtube
Y'know, I've always disliked the bodies on those guitars, and it just looks so strange to NOT have a headstock... but I've got to admit, TransTrem owns the hell out of Floyd Rose!
Hello. The guitar in this example is a GL4(TA). It is the original ALL composite design. Musicyo currently makes the GLB-2S, which has a bolt on composite neck and wood body. There is also the budget priced Spirit GT-Pro Series, which is all wood construction. (All composite GL's are no longer made.)
Wait , im thick but does that trem work like a floyd? or is it just for these octave changes??..

I can´t even try to imagine the kind of thinking Ned had to do to come with such a system as the Trans Trem, it is simply awesome.

There REALLY needs to be Steinberger ukuleles. It would actually be very practical, considering the huge variations in tunings used on ukuleles.

Holy shit.
What happened to these tremolos? Can you still buy them?
I'm a gutar tech, and setting up Floyd Rose trems, well, takes a bit of time. This stuff blows the FR out of the water!

I've always admired the radical departure the Steinbergers provided.
Cool shape. Nice sound.
