Virgil you are and will always be a true MASTER of the CLASSICAL ORGAN, may we all be blessed that you were able to provide many of us with the wonderful music of J S Bach.
grew up listening to BACH and will die listening to BACH

He was a genius. I nuch regret not having met him. Can anyone tell me the name of the arranger of this piece? I cannot make out the text on the left side of the page of music.
I missed seing Virgil for what turned out to be his last New York appearence, ... one of life's regrets. This was .... is .... and always will be my most loved and favored piece for the organ ..... I wish I could play it this way ... but .... that's why there was only one Virgil Fox. R.I.P.
Wonderful to find this and more ala Virgil Fox....I remember seeing him perform at Philadelphia's Academy of Music....for my 13th birthday.....a true music geek was I from a young age!
I had a really massive crush on Virgil Fox (the original one...LOL) when I was in junior high school (I am female). Everyone thought I was crazy. I didn't care and still dont. Virgil's music and style still ROCK my world! Love it!!
That's interesting :) So I guess you went to some of his concerts? Did you line up to meet him afterwards? I would love to have had the chance. I was only about 9 years old when he died. Thanks for the friend invite.
Hi, I saw Virgil Fox on PBS in the early 70s playing with Arthur Fiedler and the Boston Pops. ^__^ He was enchanting and totally into his Bach. I never met him, sadly. I'm sure he would have been amazing to talk to.
Have you read "Virgil Fox (The Dish)", by Richard Torrence and Marshall Yaeger... a wonderful story of his life based on a memoir by Ted Alan Worth. It's one you can't put down until you finish it! A gut wrenching last chapter though.
I like his registration for this instrument,a bit to fast for me still

It is my own attempt to recreate Virgil's arrangement.
Virgil based his arrangement on Harvey Grace's arrangement in D - transposing it to E, and making his own changes.
I have done the same, using a YouTube video of Virgil performing the piece on his Allen touring organ as a reference:

The result is quite accurate :)

No, this is the first I have heard of it. Sounds really fascinating though. Is it still in print?
