Japan doesn't have Marine corp, but both Korea have it. in this point, Japanese military power is inferior to Korean's.

@vladimirleninintomsk not necessarily. JSDF still has a much bigger and advanced Air force and Naval assets. Bulk of ROK's defense is ground.

@yurikomuro Yup, that's why the US is still heavily involved there. The US supplements their forces with their own air and naval assets.

@vladimirleninintomsk yurikomuro is right. Japan's self defence police has stronger naval and air force. Korea has only about 30-40 percent of Japanese naval strength (though there aren't much gap between air force - japan has much better radar system but korea has better fighter jets from U.S.)

@vladimirleninintomsk But (south) Korea has much stronger ground troops since it always needs to be prepared to fight north korea on the ground (unlike island Japan). Korean 'ground' army is in top five of the world and has one of the best tanks in the world. When fighting only by ground, Japan will not win.
