i find that porn is more damaging if you look at it at a younger age, or if its farely graphic. The Supreme Court isn't exactly the highest you can go legally. Saying that the Supreme Cort can't define pornography doesn't really mean much.
They just rule laws constitutional or unconstitutional. They use the constitution as their reference for cases that involve laws that are unfair or whatever and say whether they are allowed or are fair. Not even laws, it's also crime cases and stuff like that.

I believe porn CAN be bad/harmful. If it depicts children it is obviously harmful. If it depicts acts of violence or degredation, it's obviously harmful. If it overly objectifies a subject, it can also be harmful. We need to remember that there are some who act on media they have experienced, whether it is porn, music, ect. While this is thankfully a minority, it is a fact. People should never be reduced to the level of an object/sex toy.

I have nothing against soft porn and I don't think it does any harm and it is perfectly healthy and acceptable to consume, after all soft core is usually only topless women. Hardcore porn isn't always bad and unhealthy, but I have to say that to much consumption is very unhealthy. i find that porn is more damaging if you look at it at a younger age, or if its farely graphic. Im 16 year old guy, and the first time i saw it was when my brother and his friend showed me some, it kind of damaged me. I dont know if anyone else gets this but for me, i get flashbacks of some of the videos ive seen in my head every now and then. A few years ago I`ve been looking for videos which contain healthy sexual behaviour if any, and it wasn`t possible to find them, all were demeaning in some way, either by insulting or attacking women physically. The only good thing I`ve found were art nude sites, a mixture of art and sexual female beauty, and I`m glad I came across them. But when talking strictly about porn, I can only say that a nice sexual experience hasn`t been shown to me yet.

Well, from a legal (and societal) standpoint in the US, porn is nudity. In places other than America though, it can be different things. I think that the real problem with porn is its stigma. The Supreme Court isn't exactly the highest you can go legally. Saying that the Supreme Cort can't define pornography doesn't really mean much.
They just rule laws constitutional or unconstitutional. They use the constitution as their reference for cases that involve laws that are unfair or whatever and say whether they are allowed or are fair. Not even laws, it's also crime cases and stuff like that.

Also lately I see more explicit and aggressive porn, I really dont like - especially as porn has been some part of my sexual education, I shudder what todays kids might learn about "sex" from porn. To me its sometimes no longer porn, as its not arousing sexually.

porn is all about using ur imagination an fantasysing, it isnt unhealthy cus i mean we all cnt get layed can we lol its a healthy thing that helps sum ppl to masterbate no bodys doing n e thing wrong by watchin it, it does its job an thats it. y wud it honestly b bad? i think the only time porn is bad is wen young ppl get hold of it cus i guess i kinda think it has sumert to do with them being sexually active, at a yung age. ooo i dunno. lol

I believe porn CAN be bad/harmful. If it depicts children it is obviously harmful. If it depicts acts of violence or degredation, it's obviously harmful. If it overly objectifies a subject, it can also be harmful. We need to remember that there are some who act on media they have experienced, whether it is porn, music, ect. While this is thankfully a minority, it is a fact. People should never be reduced to the level of an object/sex toy.

I believe porn/erotica CAN be a useful theraputic stimulus. I can show that it's OK to touch and/or be touched in a certian way. It can be informative AND educational. If used for purposes of masturbation, it can be theraputic in arousing an individual and preparing them for a release, not just physically, but emotionally as well. It can also be entertaining, just turn on Cinemax after 11PM for proof.

The Supreme Court's definition "...pertaining to the purient values of the community" hits me like a hammer. Having grown up elsewhere, and traveled the world in the military, my views on sex/porn are at the complete opposite end of the spectrum from the local community here in the "Bible Belt". The definition is as intangible as what arouses an individual. One person's Sears Catalogue is another's porn. Defining porn would be a gross generalization.

i'm male/age 15/straight. I agree with your definition of porn, but i think sometimes porn can also be artistic/creative and sometimes art can be used as porn. It can be unhealthy if, for example, it induces temptation of rape. I have never had sex, so all porn/orgasms are to me is a private indulgence and a release, just like all of my other hobbies such as writing, reading, etc.

First off, this is not a discussion on rape and I'm mildly annoyed that you're making it as big a long deal on this video. Secondly, if you wish to assert such a viewpoint, please make a video on your own channel and let people discuss it there.
Finally, don't EVER compare rough consensual sex and rape to me again.... that's a surefire way to PISS. ME. OFF.

I didn't mean to compare rough consensual sex and rape; I used them as two separate examples. (I guess you replied to my comment without approving it.) I was reacting to earlier comments, some of which were on the other page and wouldn't have threaded correctly. It seems to me, though, that the possible effects of pornography on violent crime is a natural topic when the subject is the pros and cons of pornography.

And I do agree it deserves discussing.... but not in this very shallow and brief intro to it. And likely with better moderators as I hope to have on my message board within the next month. That would be a good place to discuss such a thing with several people moderating and not just me.
I don't want to get off on that tangent here because it's an endless one and it takes away from me understanding people's first/initial reaction to 'good or bad and why?'
