Im the 62nd dealer of eclipse and have won count less sales awards and went to hawaii 3 times and eclipse cd5100 cd7000 cd7200 are all great decks but eclipse is not made in japan anymore. they are still really good thought one of the best head unit made period.......
Clarions DRZ9255 Source Unit. I own the eclipse and love it, trust me. But its not as good a sound quality deck. The eclipse has way more features and is much cheaper. Overall I like the eclipse but that clarion should be better sound quality wise given all else is the same.
I'm seriously thinking of getting this CD player because I can no longer tolerate Pioneer's cheap engineering. My last CD player was the Premier 980BT and after two years(right when the warranty is up) the display stops showing but the music still plays then a week later everything just stops playing. My brothers have both owned the Premier 680, 780, and I was even given a Pioneer 7800 for free that has the same problem my 980 has. If it's not the display then it's road noise.

@variable9989 - For sure. I have an older CD8445 with 8v pre outs and I'd never go back to Alpine Deck now <3 Sounded like tin foil speakers on anything with Alpine. Eclipses will bring factory speakers to life even lol.

Press SELECT, then use the up/down to scroll to DEMO, then press ENTER. Use the UP/DOWN to select ON or OFF. Then press EQ/MENU to exit.

Excellent. I used to rock a Kenwood KDC-X991 but it blew up, searching for a worthwhile replacement, preferably something other than the X991.

is it true that you need a amp to power you speakers for this head unit...? or if you dont you wont get any sound out of the speakers.

that is correct, there is no onboard amplifier and amplified speaker outputs. You need to have an external amp.

Not sure what model Eclipse that is, Im guessing the 5100 or 72mk but you can get the 5100 online for $250 or lower with a warranty..
