McCain is wrong the damage done to the military was not from withdrawing from Vietnam. The problem was that it was ill considered and lacked public support. The draft forced young men in service, disapportionally poor and black. McCain has missed the point of history. He does the same in Iraq, he visits but fails to grasp the situation. We defeated the Iraq Army in days but have failed to provide security, this is a failure of leadership by Bush and not a military defeat.
