  • a savage warmonger calling someone a barbarian? LOL

  • @routhoula The Clan warrior caste work like Samurai, adhereing to strict codes of honour and rules of engagment that were supposed to prevent them from slipping into all out savagery. It may seem bizaar, but thats just their culture

  • @weldonwin And it seems too work, mostly.

  • this has super terrible quality.. was it recorded with a potato? or is it just the movie it self?

  • @olddog5655 VCR, dude ;D

  • @EmberBurn333 The Clans are retarded! if I wanted a pointlessly idealized character I'd go play an elf! ...and the only reason we mere mortals can beat them is that they're too honorable for this pitiful world! Give me a fawking break! I've seen deeper character concepts in shitty late-70s Greyhawk modules! I was going to run 3025 today anyway, but somebody screwed my game up! set hyperdrive coordinates for "Totally Fawking Stupid"!

  • @zymphor I suggest the next time you comment on any video, you get your facts right, particularly when naming video games that haven't even been released yet and to have the curtest of naking the video where you steal quotes from.

    That said, go fuck yourself.

  • Gotta love Elementals!

  • Considering the Jihad era, Ottsel, I'd say most of the clans are rolling in their graves now as well... :O

  • 15:11 Behold! The mighty and honorable Clan Jade Falcon warriors...attacking a farm. Also I love how the honorable Nicholai Malthus chases a lone man in a 75 ton war machine. The real show of bravery was the dude with the massive balls to attack a Summoner with a mere rifle.

  • @EvilCleric If you knew anything about the Clans and their way of life, you'd also know that their views of freeborns (ie the entire IS) were nothing but derogatory and they didn't have to stick with honour outisde of 'mech battles.

  • @Gallowell And I'm pretty sure that the Clans went out of their way to maintain personal honor. Sure they sometime didn't extend it to attempting to beat the crap out of Freeborns, but yeah otherwise they went of their way to maintain personal honor with the concept of the Circle of Equals. And no not all Clans were as close-minded about freeborns. That's mostly just the Crusader clans.

  • @EvilCleric True, and in the battlefield, they DID hold true to the 1V1 combat, until it turned into a free-for-all once one 'mech ganged up against against Clan Omni.

  • It always struck me as odd that the Clans all seemed to think during the initial invasion that the IS knew what the hell a batchall was or even zellbrigen. Did none of their superiors even think to inform their soldiers the IS didn't have a ritualized formula for fighting wars?

  • House Liason logo at 04:01?

Im pretty new to the BT universe, but as I see it the Clans are the "good" guys, the moral are all messed up in shades of grey. I bet them seems bad since the Clan Invasion were kinda a desperation act? Easly getting ruthless then. Correct me if Im wrong...

  • @EmberBurn333 There's no 'good' or 'bad' side in BattleTech. That's left to your own opinion of the conflicts.

  • @Gallowell

Indeed. I'll stick to the Clans (Wolfs Dragoons) and the IS Steiner house since they are european/scandinavian inspired, heck we even have our Steiner private schools here in norway ;p

  • I know it's wasted pixels but seriously I wish they had at least tried to follow weapons and armor specs from the game instead of just showing unimpressive slaughters.

  • What Kind of Mech is Mathus driving?

  • @malbloto2 A Summoner.

  • @malbloto2 It almost looks like a Warhawk, but most 'mech designs were completely messed up in cartoon version.

  • How does a mauler die by getting knocked down and losing one of it's missile racks???

From my experience in MW4 Mercs, I can knock a mauler down in my storm rhino (custom) but it doesn't just die. That rail gun packs a punch but so far I've seen no one hit kills like that. Also, who the crap sends wolfhounds against an assault and tons of mad dogs and timberwolves? It's quite the suicide ain't it?

  • @ZombiezuRFER I've taken out many assault class mechs in a wolfhound. it all comes down to the loadout and pilot skill. Heavies go down in a few well placed hits if you are good enough to place your shots all on the same location.

  • @ZombiezuRFER Have you ever heard of 'internal ammunition explosions'?

They work much the same way as sending an enemy 'Mech's reactor into meltdown - the only difference is a well placed SRM/LRM hit to exposed ammo packs.

  • @gribae Yeah, but an Internal ammo explosion on that shouldn't completely waste it like that. if the ammo exploded, then we'd see some exploding as it bursts out through the missile racks former place. No, this mauler was knocked down and stayed down too easily

  • What are the names and classes of the holographic mechs they're fighting?

  • @SartoriusSeven I saw a thug if that counts. Also a Champion and a crab.

  • ... okay, clan tech was and is much better, but not so much better that a single mech could wipe out four inner sphere mechs with one aplha strike

  • i wonder if star trek fans get worked up about the name romulus? i woulda thought gene roddenberry had copyrighted stuff like that

  • @retrospectus Sigh

    ---

"Romulus" was the legendary founder of ancient Rome. (Also his brother Remus and Aeneas)

  • "Where was Kerensky when the clans invaded?" Invading with Clan Wolf if I recall right?

  • @Symos kerensky was dead a few hundred years before the clan invasion. his decendants were with clan wolf however.

  • @Trueflights Read up on BattleTech before posting so you don't make an even bigger arse of yourself.

The Clans as a whole were the decendants of the Kerensky's - The Kerensky Bloodname resided only with Clan Wolf.

  • @gribae I have read up on battletech. both the old tabletop game lore and many of the novel series. been playing battletech since the 80's

  • Erm....Were those farmers.....farming Emu ?O.o

  • ostrich

    Clans ftw

  • late `94 i do belive

  • I never knew that battletech had a corrosponding cartoon! when did this come out?

  • the irony of the clans invasion is, they wanted to bring back the starleuage. and in a effort to finally stop the clans... the greathouses pulled to gether and did just that........ kerensky must be rolling in his grave.

  • Not that it really did much much good in the long run. They disbanded not long afterwards are are right back to their petty squabbling.

  • true but the point remains it happened. its so funny really even if it didnt last it did happen.

  • Yeah, when i was watching gundam seed, that's what i immediately thought of lol. Did Kerensky do that on purpose? BTW Check out my VIDEOS! MechWarrior: Living Legends is out!

  • @ottselguy if you can call an alliance of convience that collapsed as soon as the clans were stopped "bringing back" the golden age of humanity...

  • @ottselguyObviously you havent heard of the final Codex, written by the Kerensky's, in which states that the Clans right from the start never intended to invade. However, it was hidden away due to Clan politics and has led to what is now known as the history of BT and MW

  • id love to tool up in a "mess mech" (custom built) We take a chainsaw built for a forestry mech. slap on a pulse laser. Take a decent IS mech torso We give it jump jets. One missle rack. And A decent auto cannon on its other arm. it'd be a heavy or a really big medium. But it would have weapons for close medium and long range, & key to scare the clans. it has a close combat weapon.

tHEY'D PISS THEM SELVES AT A MECH WITH A CHAINSAW . yeah take that in put it in your bajal and smoke it!

  • Even if you could get something like that to work, I would still opt for the flamer. There is nothing more scary to a pilot ('Mech or otherwise) than the fear of being roasted alive. It is more a psychological weapon, but no less deadly.

  • true. fire is scary. even in the 30to 31 century im sure seeing a giant fire ball heading right for ya would make ya crap your pants too. But I JUST looove the idea of melee weapons on mechs. even if its just one.... its that somthing in a pintch when your ammo runs out and ya dont wanna burn lasers till you cook like a potato in the command couch

  • Yeah, that wouldn't work as well as you may think. If the chain snaps the weapon is useless. That's the reason they stuck with basic melee weapons such as axes and swords....and in the kodiak's case, claws. Also, it's not bajal, it's batchall.

  • Why the IS allways fights with centurions? i didnt see other mechs =( did i miss something?

The clans are in Madcats that´s not fair xD

  • The Inner Sphere spent 3 centuries bogged down in massive wars known as the Succession Wars and so their technological enhancements stopped at the era of the Star League. The Clans spent those 3 centuries building and enhancing their technology (free from the wars of the Inner Sphere) so they had more powerful 'Mechs.

The Centurion (like Commando, JaggerMech, Catapult, Firestarter, Axeman and Commando) are all relatively common 'Mechs throughout the Inner Sphere

  • @gribae

All of those are proprietary 'Mechs of one house or another.. except Centurion.

    ---

    Commando is House Kurita

    ---

JagerMech & Axeman are mainly Steiner/Davion

    ---

And Catapult is Liao, but more spread out...

    Only Firestarter is sorta uni-sphere

  • @ajferet Commando is House Steiner

  • @bocayuki

oops: I had it confused with the Panther...

  • i LIKE how "advanced imaging" makes it seem like the mech games them selves

  • OMG those evil clan bastages, they killed the fkn ostrich's!

  • Story moved a bit too fast in this one, the characters didn't really have time to reflect on what had happened. Still, chances are that was due to an episode limit or something rather than bad story telling. A good episode in a damn good show regardless.

  • Damn I only became a Battletech fan because of my older cousin, i was super little when we use to watch this. He even played the tabletop game with me, GO CLAN! I love my Blood Asp and Mad Cat.

  • Vulture and Mauler FTW!!!!

  • Animated with ownership, colored with liquid win.

  • so this is what the superb mechwarrior games were based on.

  • Actually there based on a board game called "battletech" this series came out after mechwarrior 2 was released.

And if you want to be technical "battletech 1st edition" or "battledroids" was a board game based on "robotech the macross saga" which was based on the "Macross" anime.

  • And Also the reason you won't see alot of the "origional" 'mechs in any of the newer versions of the games.. alot of them looked like Macros Mechs. (dang copyrights) *sighs* thems where the good 'ol days.

I'm surprised nobodies Mentioned NETMECH.. with its "wire frame" Enhanced mode.. heheh now that was Fun.

  • Actually Harmony Gold (the owner of Robotech) sued FASA (owner of Battletech at the time of the series.), Harmony Gold won and as a result they had to remove a few of the Mechs from the series. The Wasp and Warhammer (I believe were the two) were removed from Battletech after the lawsuit when the owner decided it was a bad idea to make stuff that they did not own the international copyright to.

Either way, I <3 both Robotech and Battletech and have been a hardcore fan of both since I was young.

  • Well NETMECH was from Mechwarrior 2. Of course both had the "Image Enhancement", which was wireframe... lol.

As it is in this series, Image Enhancement makes everything look like TRON.

  • @brybish No, just the same IP.

  • @brybish acturaly the cartoon was based off the the game

  • @thalmar7 ACTUALLY, the cartoon was based from the cardboard game.,

  • @brybish Nope. All based of a board game called... BattleTech.

  • @sarahts21 Sorta like how star wars was supposed to be only 6 movies but was later continued by fans. The new republic thing wasn't even in the original story :P

  • I love all these comments criticising this show for insignificant, nerdy minutia. Relax guys, it's just TV. It's not like the animators were getting paid to leaf through rulebooks to ensure every scene fits the rules of the game.

That said, I'm amazed nobody's complained that the "enhanced imaging" sequences show the topography with a linear grid instead of a hex grid, I figure that would be the first complaint from battletech die-hard fans...

  • I think this show is a great way to get into battletech, so what if its not 100% like the game.

The small differences shouldnt mean jack to hardcore fans.

  • This is a good show but my only real gripe is the CG 'enhanced imaging' sequences. I know this cartoon is either late 80's or early 90's, and it was one of the first to mix animation with CG, but it resembles something a little too close to Tron (in terms of graphical appearance) for my liking...

  • The jade falcon symbol is different to mechwarrior. The game symbol had a green falcon with a kitana in its claws

  • this show had alot of things different from the official material (which was in the games)

its just something you gotta get around and still try to enjoy it for what it is

  • I thought mechwarrior was based off battle tech thats what mech warrior 2 cover PS1 said

  • it is

thats why battletech is better on every level

  • Comment removed

  • you guys might not enjoy that comment, but its true

  • yeah its all in the roll i killed the pilot of a atlas with a AC2 at long range in an area combat once, the salvage price was well worth it

  • i take it you were playing with "floating crit" rules then - otherwise an AC 2 would be shrugged off by the Cockpit armor.

  • depends on the condition of the AS7 before the head hit, seeing as the base armor is only 9pts, and a AC2 does 2pts, it is unlikely that it did get through the armor without the, now near, standard use of the floating critical rule. And even then its still long odds. But can and has happened.

  • I'm more of a Starsiege guy, but Mechwarrior is also good.

  • I remember the series first premiering in Australia - Agro's Cartoon Connection. Would have been around 11 or 12 then, but it was my first real intro to the 'Tech series, before buying the books and games.

Hands down, my own opinion - nothing beats MechWarrior Mercenaries.

  • There are books? Where do i buy them?

  • eBay

  • Ebay, if you want the original copies of BattleTech and not the 'Classic' crap they released recently. Any bookstore, new and used, if you want any of the MechWarrior Dark Age titles.

  • Classic Battletech Novels are a several leagues above the dark age novels. which you can find most of them at Books-a-million or barnes and nobles - if they dont ahve them; you can order them at no additional charge

  • the classic battletech novels are alot better than the Dark Age novels by a huge margin

theres also like 60 of them

  • I agree, if only because I mostly read the original "Legend of the Jade Phoenix" trilogy, with Star Colonel Aidan Pryde.

But Dark Age has not been around long and it will no doubt increase when more books are published in that series.

  • OMG Aggro's Cartoon Connection!!!!

  • Thats lame,They shoot that idiot so many times and he doesnt take damage *thumbsdown*

  • Well play the boardgame. Sometimes you shoot the hell out of a mech, but it all depends how you roll. You could hit a mech all over without hitting a critical. Then again, I have had the priviledge using a Wasp to take out a Marauder. It all depends on the dice roll. LOL

  • I have been playing B-Tech since 1987 (I was 7!) For me the only real battletech game exists when you're playing with miniatures. Gotta love the startegy. However, Mechwarrior 1, 2, and Mercs were some damn fine games.

  • So is MC Gold ..

  • True, I did like Mechcommander--2 is okay.

  • yeah i think mechassault was the only real disapointment to the seris. iv been play the old snes game battletech after i downloaded it off a site. you only get to use the madcat but its pretty cool. anyone else remeber that game??

  • Hehe, i took out an Atlas with an Uller A - headshot - clean and precise.

But ive also taken a Mad Cat against a Griffin and gotten badly mauled because none of my damage was ever going into the same spot twice - eventually it was a head hit that knocked the pilot out.

its all in how you roll, as you said.

  • nother better than having an old Hunchback from 3025 take out a Mad Cat mk2 via Head Shot. lol

  • Yeah, nothing scares me more then an AutoCannon 20 and some lucky dice -

  • The Cero subplot was probably my favourite part of the show, back in the day.

  • Ive played Mechwarrior from the first PC game, and seeing this brings back alot of memories. Even though there following the story of the Inner Sphere, i still prefer Clan jade Falcon or Wolf, But GO INNER SPHERE!

    :P

  • Periphery For the Win! XP

  • Good to see ostrich farming is alive and well in the 31st century.

also lol at the Vulture (?) that walks up to the barn, blows it up and nonchalantly walks way.

  • It was obviously a tactical barn, duh.

  • ahah that made me laugh :D

  • lol i play mechassault but ive just started watching these...theyre not bad if the rumored film comes out i'd like to see it

  • "If that was there big plan wouldn't they have jst left." XD smart commander

  • The tv series wasn't the best but the GAMES OWNED.

  • Wow, looking at things from today and this, whew, such changes. Goes to show how much improvement technology has made since then.

  • It can if I'm piloting it. ;)

  • i loved this show!!!!

  • To be honest, LunarWolf, if you didn't like it, then why did you leave a comment? If you don't like it, don't ruin it for those of us who do. And pendraco2000, the Jenner is the correct answer, however, one should note the Owens is the upgraded Jenner.

  • This show kinda strays away from Battletech. I mean a clan mech can't destroy 5 mechs in 3 seconds.

  • Uh, theroetically, no, however, we have no prior knowledge of the conditioning of the 5 destroyed Mechs, so we do not know the core, or armor damage inflicted, not to mention that it may not have been just one Mech.

  • The clan mech was hacking, he didn't take any damage!

  • I so wish some decent company would pick up on this franchise. >_<

  • ok, sorry. I thought I saw one.

  • They were: a Crab, a Champion, and a Thug

  • can you name those 3 holo mechs

  • I could only make out one owens...

  • no Owens, coulda been a Jenner

  • somethings wierd about the planets name wotan it sounds like it came from the games

  • Some hot women on this show.

  • I THINK IT's A HELLBRINGER WITH A CUSTOM JOB

  • YES! I used to watch this show all the time! Toturi, you are the man for putting these on youtube!

  • guys, can some give me a few ideas on which battlemech to build first, i`m serious. any ideas?

  • Lol. It shows lasers coming out of the SRM packs on the Hellbringer (Loki)

  • maybe it's a Modified one? those SRM-6 weigh 2 tons plus the ton of ammo.

  • dude this show would so rock with todays graphics haha just picture the mechs and 3d imaging the claners do hha

  • i hate that this show didn't continue.

  • YES IT DIDNT BUT IT WAS GOOD SHOW

  • LONG LIVE BATTLETECH !!!!

  • Could have been so much better, crap animation, crap dialogue, crap voice acting...

  • crappy guys named lunarwolf....

  • aww poor baby, did i spoil your cartoon? Hit a nerve? Grow up loser.

  • take your own advice, jackass

  • Ya good one, dishes out the insults but can't take some good advice, So sad. Enjoy your cartoons 'Mechwarrior' lol.

  • ya know, if ya didn't like the cartoon, why the hell did you comment? and when the hell did you give any good advice?

  • I gave my honest opinion of the cartoon (not aimed at the person who posted it), battletech is a great story/universe, this rubbish is an insult. Compaired to other similar animation of the same period and it's a joke.

You came blundering in and aimed a lame ass insult at me, don't get all hissy over the backlash.

Oh and the good advice was to 'grow up.' Now i suggest you go back to your cartoons and stop making yourself look like such a prat.

  • man, this was honestly the first glimpse of any battletech stuff i ever saw. granted it's not all that well done, but they did at least try to make a series. and for the record, this was the first 3D i saw in any cartoon. and I'm 21 by the way, and living on my own, so don't tell me to grow up...

  • you know nothing of battletech.

  • and you know nothing of what makes a good TV show, like most simpletons your easily entertained...

  • lol. piss off.

oh you are just a youtube troll. Get some videos and maybe you will have some sort of standing here.

  • pfft... i'm not some narcissistic quear that needs people to see their home made porno.

  • I dont ever remember Maddogs and Hunchbacks being so damn resistant what are they packing light and medium lasers

  • Hell yeah! Battletech! Thankyou! Thankyou!
