  • How long do they chill, in freezer or fridge. Also where can you buy the melted chocolate.

  • No disrespect to anyone; I see your points of view for giving credit to Bakerella as she was the originator for this idea but it is not as if the lady said this was her original idea or claim that she created this. I do not think it is fair to have multiple people tell her credit bakerella. if anyone knows about cake balls or cake pops they know about Bakerella. My two cents :) Besides the frosting for decorating is a new technique not used by Bakerella and I think it is a new way to do it

  • @EchoNine2: @EchoNine2 EXACTLY! We don't give credit to Thomas Edison every time a new light bulb is created! EVERYBODY knows that! There is nothing new under the sun and I bet Bakerella got the idea from something she saw...maybe a lollipop lol!

  • @aprilmasontv She did and she admits that in her book. She went to a christmas party and the hostess made the cake balls and it inspired her to do more creations with it lol. Like the lolipop comment lol

  • Yes, Always give credit to the originator! LOL I don't think Bakerella will mind if the young lady use her photo (she has the kindess spirit...and feel "flattered" when folks share her baking knowledge, etc.). That's WHAT make Bakerella & Fat Witch so popular with us (novice bakers & PROS)! :-D THEY LOVE SHARING WITH THE REST OF US!!!!

  • I've found that mixing the frosting with the crumbs is EASIEST in a freezer bag. Just seal out the air and squish it around in your hands. Much better. :)

  • yeah if u start with white icing and add coloring until black it will taste nasty

  • Wonderful idea, this is how I make my cake truffles. I just roll them in powder sugar or cocoa. Cute POP idea though. Oh hey, you may want to wrap your styrophome with plastic to keep it from shedding.

  • You can make black by adding a couple of drops of black food coloring to a dark chocolate frosting. I use the store bought kind, or you can make your own. by doing it this way, the black frosting tasts like chocolate and you wont stain your teeth!

  • maybe you could try whit dark pure chocolate it is almost black and it will dry as well as candy or royal icing

  • i did these yesturday and when i dipped the pop into the frosting it was falling apart lol so i tried a different method. I grabbed a spoon and poured the chocoloate ontop and then spread it evenly with a tooth pic, they camed out great and they taste awesome

  • aww =(, made these last night but the cake kept breaking off the stick when I went to dip it in the candy melt. Any suggestions??

  • Did you chill them first in the freezer? I suggest only taking about 6 out of the freezer at a time, otherwise they thaw out too much while you're dipping the previous ones. Another possible cause is too much icing in the mix -- try a bit less next time.
