  • to all of you arguing about how you are from "the streets" NO ONE FUCKING CARES! I do not see the glory in living from welfare check to welfare check. Please explain this. I own my own business and work 2 jobs and work my ass off to put myself through school. If you really want any type of real respect quite acting like you can't and actually do something. Not everyone can be a rap star. Get use to it. @davidthegreat99 I admire your drive and working with what you got. very nice keep it up .

  • where do you put your clothes...

  • Thanks

  • awesome man, thanks - was something I hadn't honestly considered before!

  • So you took 10 minutes to explain you put Walmart foam in a closet.

  • u rock!

  • I use spray adheasive to put the foam on the wall and it works perfect buy spray foam from home depot or walmart works GREAT!!!

  • Lmao! It's ironic...I bet a lot of rappers are in the closet! Good vid tho.

  • Thank you I'm trying to make one right now and I'm using blankets ( normally thick). Is that okay?

  • Thanks, I found this video really helpful :)

  • Now im motivated :)

  • duct tape lol

  • I got this light for 3 dollars man at Walmart. Thanks bro my weekend project!

  • DO NOT USE THE LIQUID NAILS!! too messy takes time to dry and makes it hard to remove foam in the future.

  • i used a staple gun easier.. n less metal..

  • Thanks For That . P.I .C (Partner In Crime)

  • im getting a bruce lee poster in my studio

  • Booth within a booth, haha. You must've gotten so claustrophobic in that closet. Anyway thanks for the videos, I'll have to check out those reflection filters because I have nowhere to turn into a vocal booth & I'm not doing it in my bathroom, lol.

  • JACKIE CHAN!!!!!

  • @OnTheChairProduction That is Bruce Lee, sir.

  • @sleestakattack oh my bad

  • Look on eBay for the foam.!!! You could've done your closet with professional foam for under $100

  • thanks Dave! been looking for a good cheap solution in an apartment with thin walls. this will work!

  • hey dave im 13 and im making a studio cani use a basement ?

  • Thanks, David!

  • thanks. very helpful

  • Could You Like Build A beet For A That Has Already Deen Written With No Beet?

  • @SuperUshay It's difficult but look at rappers like Immortal Technique & Tupac who wrote entire albums while incarcerated & then added instrumentals later.

  • This is officialy the best video i watched this year!

  • Screw that, I'm just gonna get a reflection filter...

  • 7:28

    Booth-ception.

  • "So uh.. what I did was I went to walmart.."

  • Thanks Dave...it was really helpful !

  • the real difference is it's fire retardent the egg crate is highly flamable is be careful

  • Hey i got a question.can i spray paint the foam black or do that effect them?and why i need foam outside the closet

  • @netty4885 You need foam outside of your closet 'cause all the electronics emit a nasty ass hiss and you'll hear humming and static when you play the audio back. Try to have your booth as far from your workstation as possible and if you can keep the lights off and turn off fans and lamps to reduce the interference that'd help too.

  • You shouldn't thank us. We should be thanking you! This helped me so much

  • You can tell the difference just with the audio on the camera when you were talking into that closet and when you were in the room talking. I'll definitely be doing this! Great information bro! Thanks a lot!

  • You area good man, dude. Helpful info.

  • I used thumb tacks to put up the foam, and I put it up in a pattern to allow sound to bounce off the bear parts of the walls, along with the reflection filter it gave the sound alot of substance!

  • Comment removed

  • YOUR DOPE THANKS FOR THE HELP YOU'VE BEEN SUBSCRIBED

  • Hey i rent my apartment, and i was wondering if there was a way i could place the foam on the walls without causing too much damage too the walls?

  • @TheCreativedanny hey bro. I'm gonna try stick on velcrow. like you can buy at walmart or a craft store. has a roll of velcrow with a sticky side like tape and a velcrow side. try that.

  • @TheCreativedanny use push pins (thumb tacks) they work perfect.

  • egg carton foam does work for high end echos. but, the ol' egg cartons made from cardboard do not work to deaden a room. When people say egg cartons do not work, they're reffering to the cardboard and thin styrofoam ones. Your foam should do just fine for highs.

  • thanks david..Its a great video....exactly what i was looking for...peace

  • are u a rapper or a singer just wonderin cuz u said ur a singer but idk if u ment rapper

  • This is very hekpfull!!! Thanks for the ideas....

  • Do not, do do NOT USE DUCK TAPE.

  • lmfao... i was laughing at first, but i believe him.. some geniuses start out in their basements/closets. good job!

i completely agree about the studio foam.. shit is expensive. i bought some, but it is RIDICULOUSLY expensive, like $30/sq feet i think marble costs less. i might as well get a new marble counter.

  • @bliljerk101 u can use egg cartons

  • lmfao... i was laughing at first, but i believe him.. some geniuses start out in their basements/closets. good job!

  • he saw hustle & flow

  • adhesive is better to use then nails

  • Jim Morrison was having a block midway in his career about how to lay down his next short burst of creativity. When asked by his producer where he was most comfortable, he responded "in the bathroom." LA Woman was then (vocally) recorded in the bathroom. I hear Jim Morrison when I hear Dave say "you work with what you got".

  • 32 people used duck tape the first time

  • @ChongoRapper duck tape?

  • I have an un used shower cubicle in my room. If I padded it out and put some foam and treated it abit would it be suitable and not too ehoey?

  • I like it.. It sounds like he knows what he's talkin about

  • Thanks man that video helped.... Questions... Is a about an 10 by 10 room okay to record in? Also can I put the foam under sheetrock?

  • David, you could put a bass trap in there, it sounds really boomy... and it is not that expensive, its just a 2x4 fiberglass panel, with a cloth cover, and a frame, if you want to... or you just nail it to the wall with big washers... it's gonna improve the sound dramatically... and in the "control room" you have nasty reflexions, some panels in the back should be enough...

  • this the type of info i need cuz im tryna be my own engineer and i rap an sing so i need a booth

  • That is how you CARATE a vocal booth.

  • Tks.. great job!!! It helps me a lot... Sheers from Brasil!!

  • good job man i do think like u, studio foam is VERY expensive, u can get the same effect with just regular foam, i have no shit acoustics in my room in fact the bedroom i record in is big and have lots of reverb and fucked up bouncing sound all over but yet i manage to get me some good sound in my songs, check out my channel and hear my reggae tunes i recorded, peace.
