  • to some it may seem she cheated but we know they kept that info from the judges because she knew they would not let her comepete

  • I've always loved the original "Ice Castles"...what a tear-jerker...but a superb ending...

  • i cried..

  • I love the theme song from this movie. I watched the remake of this movie recently and i was moved. Even though i never watched the original, i'm sure it was just as moving as well. Movies like this that feature a person having all the talent in the world, almost losing it all, and then having to fight back from adversity, are the best ones. They inspire people that no matter what comes your way, you can overcome it by having those around that really love you and want the best for you.

  • Just watched this again after many years and it brings back all the emotions and yes even tears!! What an amazing soundtrack, story, and what a powerhouse voice Melissa Manchester has!! Brilliant!!

  • Rate the film "5 Stars"! Watched "Ice Castles" yesterday on "Turner Classic Movies"- already it's one of my "Faves"! (One of the most INSPIRING movies I've ever seen!) "Through the Eyes of Love" has always been among my favorite "Movie Theme Songs"- but now I can "FULLY" appreciate the lovely Marvin Hamlisch melody even more... now that I can hear it "THROUGH THE EYES OF LOVE"! I love the movie, the song, the actors (especially the girl) & it's damn near a "PERFECT MOVIE"! What's not to like?

  • oh ya she's a cutie for sure... hum she should be my age .. that was made in the 70's?

  • My husbands dream girl,he loves her so much, kinda hard to compete with someone like her...

  • So she's blind why can't she compete?

  • wow!! its beautiful !! amazing !!! i hope can to do that!!

  • the boy reminds me of Harry from OneDirection :3 hha. aww but i love this movie and song!

  • this song fills me with such emotions. thank you so much for posting

  • Very moving, beautiful film, i had to order the dvd for my niece from America, because they don't sell it anywhere the UK.

  • nothing beats classic movies about love...they just don't do it the same way anymore.

  • Saw the original movie, loved it. Love; Looking through the eyes of love by Melissa Manchester, makes me very emotional, I cry, but now it's with a great deal more wisdom. thank you so much for posting it.

  • This is a very touching movie I've ever seen in my life, it's way back in 1970's I vied this movie when I was still in first year high school. I love the movie very much. Now that I have already a teenage son, I always telling him repeatedly about this movie and he patiently kept on listening. One time he ask me to rent a DVD of this film from a nearest DVD Rental Shop but sad to note that It's no longer available.

  • Man, the 70's were awesome.

  • Love the trumpet.

  • 4:28 really touches me for some reason. In the remake, the coach is clapping and cheering with everyone else, but, pretty much like all other comparisons between the movies, this one came out way better and emotional.

  • I always loved this movie and the song! Thanks for posting.

  • See, what they should've done here, is that when she's coming up on the flowers, for Robby Benson to see them first and then go slip sliding all over the ice to pick them up before she can trip over them. Then a cool slow-motion sequence of Lynn-Holly tripping not over the roses but over Robby as he tries to get out of the way...and then an abrupt cut to a sex scene in which Robby gets a charley horse in his leg as a result of the injury of Lynn-Holly falling over him.

  • IT REALLY GIVE ME GOOSEBUMPS!!!

  • The Absolute Teen Flick.

  • sometimes we need to fight our fear..

  • my mom loved this movie and she said my parents watched this movie when my dad proposed to my mom. :) When I saw the movie being shown on tv in the 90s, I've loved it. still do and I was shocked robby was the voice of beast which at that time I was watching too as a kid :))))

  • this movie will always be great, though i do wish they could have put in the triple axel that Lexie was able to do. in the days this movie was made, those were barely able to be done by men. IRL, but in the book, Lexie was able to do them. but this was the days of elegance on ice, not just a jumping contest.

God, i miss the sound and feel of ice...it was the closest to heaven on earth for me. disabled, ill never feel it again...

  • @LadyDeerskin But that's precisely the point, she wasn't supposed to do it. It was illegal to try it in competition, because at the time it was thought too risky for women to attempt. I don't always think skating is better now because of the triple -- back then the emphasis was on ALL the elements, technical AND artistic. I think skating as a whole was better off, less risky, and certainly more elegant and beautiful to watch.

  • the 7 dislikes are from hockey fans.....

  • @DjScRaTch691 hahahahahaha. True!

  • Like hell, Melissa is simply the best. What a perfect movie score for this film. If I had one wish it might be for a time machine to return to the days when the great ones were performing. They will never pass this way again and I feel sorry for the ones that have to settle for the cheap crap today.

  • @JAlFrazier01 I "Second" your emotion (see my comment above). If you like this kind of "Tearjerker" with a "Love Themesong" 3 films come to mind: 1. "Somewhere In Time" with Steve Reeve & Jane Seymour; 2. "Summer of 42" with Jennifer O' Neil; & finally # 3. "Breezy" with William Holden (beautiful themesong by Shelby Flint). These kinds of Romantic Movies & Lovesongs aren't being made anymore; the quality of Entertainment is (I agree) "Cheap Crap"! I've provided a "Time Machine" of "Good Films"~

  • They did a remake of this movie which I also love. But why? Oh why? dont they make movies like this anymore?? =(

  • amo esse filme queria baixar mas não encontro...

  • thanks for posting! I cried all over again one of my favorite movies of all time.

  • Very fluid, nicely done camera work here. (I hope she didn't crash into the camera man at 0:53). It's almost like the camera is a kind of dance partner, like we're dancing with her.

  • lousy trumpet solo

  • Oh Jeez... thanks for the good cry I just had, haha... great movie!!!

  • "We forgot about the flowers." Love that line and my favorite scene in the movie. I still get choked up looking this whole clip. Wonderful film.

  • my jazz band is playing this its legit shit no lie

  • Ah, Robbie Benson. Every girl's every guy.

  • 1978....i was in college and this movie, the song, the excellent performance of Lynn Holly Johnson gave me goosebumps. 2011...as I watch this youtube , again I still get the same goosebumps. The impact of the soundtrack on perfectly-timed skating performance of Johnson is so perfect. My all time 1978 movie. ..still makes me tear-eyed.

  • Dallas should have stuck to ice skating. Should never have taken that job on the space ship...

  • I so wish I could have been able to do this.

  • We are 4 teenagers 13 and 14 watching this movie crying and crying and passing the the only tissue we got . Hormones hormones lol

  • @misteeq64 haha, so cute!!! My friends and I did that too, back in the day of course! LOL

  • Thank you .... for posting this ... it takes me back to a time when I was young and actually knew what it was to dream. A beautiful movie and a timeless song.

  • Great movie and wonderful song! Loved this movie when it came out and still do!

  • great movie and great song. this movies was much better than the remake. no one could touch the wonderful skating performance of Lynn holly Johnson

  • Lynn Holly Johnson can't be matched.

  • Tenía como 4 años cuando ví esta película, y me acuerdo perfectamente de ella! uno de mis films favoritos sin duda!

  • The comment someone made about this movie having bad acting. This person doesnt know what they are talking about. This movie had great acting and actors. Even the music is good. This person obliviously doesnt know talent.

  • A classic that will last the ages..

  • this is one immortal song and movie. always gives me goosebumps. I'm at my 20's but I just love music of 70's.

  • the skating routine from this movie was greater than the remake , but both are great movies :)

  • I've never watched this but I was able to watch the remake :) really great !!

  • In 1988 I got married and my mom and my hubby his mom walk down the isle to that song I wanted dedicated to them cause my mom was the world to me and so is she to him

  • i always love this movie!!!

  • I love this movie and the song as well. It's been a long time since I last saw this movie. It's one of my favorite movie.

  • this movie is a total rip off. I cried, noy only because of the story, but because of the terrible acting the actors and actresses do. That isnt blind, if anything, shes deaf, dumb, and ugly. YUK!!!!!!!

JK:) THUMBS UP IF U DO NOT AGREE:D

  • @zba1231 You've gotta be kiddin'! Even if you didn't enjoy the story or acting- how can U not like the "Amazingly Beautiful Themesong"? (U didn't mention about the "song"!) I think you're "Pulling Everyone's Leg"; in my opinion, it's among "MOST INSPIRING" & "BEAUTIFULLY SCRIPTED/ACTED MOVIES EVER MADE"! Over 1000 people who commented: "LOVED" this Movie; only 8 people didn't according to the "Poll" above! U are in the "vast minority", my friend: If U think "Girl" is "Ugly"- U are "Uglier"!

  • Saw this movie three times when it came out eons ago.

Always manages to make me cry.

Thank you so much for sharing.

  • I love this movie.Thanks for sharing

  • Inclreible!! Excelente este video....

  • why does she look empty on the begining ??

  • @AkatsukiCraze To really understand the song you need to see the original movie. It's been a while since I've seen it but it truly is one of my favorites. She's a small town girl who gets her dream of becoming a professional skater. The fame or fortune and loses her humility. One night there was a fund raising party at the skating rink in her honor. Against the instructions of her coach she decides to skate. If I remember right she had been drinking. She accidentally skates into some

  • of the stage lights that are in a corner on the ice. She heads her head causing her to go blind. She can see light and a few shadows but that's all. She has a blank look on her face because she can't see. I don't want to spoil the whole movie for you. See it! Hope you love it as much as I do.

  • That even in the storm we'll find some light...

Great!!!!

  • Looking through the eyes of love.....

  • I dont know how many times Ive watched Ice castles, the Movie...I will never forget this song too...Love it...

  • i am so in love with robbie benson ..why oh why didnt i find one like him ? *( i wont stop until the day i die He is my ideal inside and out beautiful human................ being !

  • para pessoas verdadeiramente sensiveis

  • it really touches me..i love this movie so much!!!by all means that love contains both sacrifices and happiness.

  • so much EPIC -- love it

  • This movie and the song together is a perfect combination. Meliissa Manchester interpretation is outstanding!

  • That trumpet at 2:41.....angelic

  • My wife and I both cried our eyes out over this movie. What an inspiring film this is. A must-see for everyone. It will lift your soul!

  • thank god for Robbie Benson ! this movie wouldnt have been half as good as it was if he wasnt in it !

  • i love the song and the movie thumbs up

  • Name me another movie that makes you feel like you're flying. This is one of a kind.

  • @kamwrites The new version and one of the scenes in "Ice Princess". And "Avatar".

  • @kamwrites An Officer and a Gentleman was a one of a kind movie too, in my opinion.

  • Total tear jerker, I loved it then and now and recall how every girl had a crush on Robbie Benson. :..-(

  • No remake can ever come close to this... PRICELESS !

  • MARRY ME! I`M A GIRL :D

  • this is very soft and poignant...

  • Classic first class tear-jerker.

  • Trumpet solo - Doc Severinson of course!

  • I have a clear audio file of this song. I can give it to anyone who can make a decent video with it because I dont know how to make one.

  • @sallyteacher

    It's by Melissa Manchester..

  • my all time favourite!

  • wow the way she moves, she makes it look so effortless

  • the boy is look a like the beast in the movie beauty in the beast when he transformed into a real human ..

  • Terrible costuming back then, making half the leotard look like a schoolgirl outfit. Definitely prefer the outfit and the stream-lined skating in the new version.

  • @whitespirit26 Skating costumes were simpler then, we didn't have the spandex and glitter like today. It's hardly fair to judge the skating fashions of yesteryear by today's standards.

Plus, if you'd actually watched the movie you'd also know that Lexie was wearing her late mother's skating dress, to honor her. Which is also why she says, before she starts, "here's to my mom."

  • @redrosestoo I know they were simpler. That doesn't mean I have to find them attractive.

  • Top ten in romantic movies!!!

  • It's a beautiful show that is so touching. Thank you for sharing this video.

  • this is a girl from for your eyes only , one of the james bond film

  • gnda nmn..

  • It's perfect. Thanks

  • its so uhmmmmmmmmmmm...

    man

  • Yes even as I started watching this video I am already crying. I JUST LOVE THE SONG AND THE MOVIE, The famous phrase for this movie I think is when what's his name? said..... "We forgot about the flowers". Thank you for posting

  • The ending scene manages to be very powerful and funny at the same time (the latter in the case of the whole tripping because she couldn't see the flowers). But that makes it all the more powerful because now, despite all her hard work and success, she needs her bf.

  • @Anon5241 I don't think it's powerful because she needs Nick, it's powerful because up until then neither the judges nor the audience knew she was blind. She skated a stunning routine, which would have been amazing for a sighted person. The ovation she got was for that, and it only made it more monumental when they realized that she'd done all that without being able to see, after she trips over the flowers. Nick is there to lend her support, but knows that ultimately she can stand on her own.

  • i dont understand why they remade this movie, it may be an older movie but it's still just as powerful as ever and the only difference between this and the new one is that its filmed slightly differently and has diferent actors. i dont see how thats necessary? especially since all the actors from the original did such a great job and its an amazing movie

  • @mshayzel10 CAUSE HOLLYWOOD IS RUNNING OUT OF GOOD ORIGINAL STORIES THAT BRING PPL TO MOVIE THEATERS. I WAS APPALLED WHEN I SAW THERE WAS A "NEW" ICE CASTLES. THE THING WITH THIS ONE IS THAT IT HAS BRILLIANT QUALITY ACTORS AS OPPOSED TO THE 2010 VERSION WHO HAS THE CRAPPIEST OF LEADING YOUNG ACTORS. THE GIRL (WHOSE NAME I DON'T EVEN CARE TO KNOW) IS DULL, HAS THE FACE OF AN EGG AND DOES NOT PROJECT ANYTHING. ONE NEVER MANAGES TO REALLY 'FEEL' FOR HER AND THE GUY, WELL...

  • @mshayzel10 HE'S NO ROBBIE BENSON :P

  • i dont understand why they remade this movie, it may be an older movie but it's still just as powerful as ever and the only difference between this and the new one is that its filmed slightly differently and has diferent actors. i dont see how thats necsasry? especially since all the actors from the original did suc a great job and its an amazing movie

  • she says this is for you mom at 0:16 min this is a great movie thank you for posting it ...... my first husband looked just like robbie benson

  • the story was really great and it bring my tears down when i watch the tracker ..i really like this movie..

  • i like the background music ad the artist who play the role of each character....

  • What does she say at 0:16?

  • simmons

  • SIMMONS!

  • This song has always made me cry. Watching that movie clip made me cry even more. This song is so moving and touching; I love it!

  • Love this song and the movie. It still moves me to tears after all these years.

FYI- Robby Benson produces and directs on the stage and on TV. And he was the voice of the Beast in Disney's Beauty and the Beast.

  • I forgot why I'm a huge fan of Mellisa Manchesters - what a voice! Wonder what ever happened to Robby Benson? He was a great actor back in the day too. This film is a fav & missed it on TV tonite so thx 4 allowing me 2 cry again!

  • no matter how many times i watch this scene or hear this song...cuts me deep every time.... its on hallmark tonight at 9...catch it..

  • if I ever win the lottery I will sponser some child that loves ice skating but cant afford the money to make their dreams come true. I love ice skating :-)

  • I love you!

  • Even after 30+ years, the beauty and artistry of this routine is still evident. Absolutely beautiful. And to think someone got the "bright" idea to do a remake. Nothing can match Lynn-Holly Johnson's hauntingly beautiful performance.

  • @blkwebman

I completely agree! I was 6yrs old when this came out. It set my mind that this is romance. Needless to say, I set my standards high when it came to love....true love....

  • Her skating style reminds me of Dorothy Hamill. Interestingly enough, Dorothy had to wear glasses doing the School Figures! She is a bit taller than Dorothy but both are beautiful Women and beautiful Skaters

  • Wonderful! American movies of until 70's were giving dreams hopes and tears to us. Also I love this movie!

  • I loved this movie and its soundtrack so much...Lynne holly johnson and robby benson just made it real great on screen during those times...so touching and inspiring...Lynn's performance was indeed amazing...

  • The song was nominated f or an Oscar....and I remember how figure skating was more concerned with the artistry than all the stupid triples and quads they do now...such a shame...and Johnson i believe medaled in the US Nationals, then went right to the Ice Capades..I wonder how well she would have done if she had remained an amateur...

  • I asked another person who uploaded a version of this who wrote the melody, it was Marvin Hamlisch, he is Barbra Streisands orchestra conductor.

  • Great Movie..

    Happy Love Month Everyone..

  • not to get technical here, during such a touching moment, but wouldn't an ice skate cut right through flowers?

  • @lookingfortalent2007 Not likely. It would cause a pretty good slice, but probably not cut all the way through. I know because I cut rose canes yesterday in my garden, and they are pretty tough.

  • i haven't seen the movie and i just discovered this song is actually the theme song of this movie, and just from this end part i can guess what it's about, and it's already so touching that i cry while i am watching it...

  • Great movie! Lots of memories with this movie!

  • i love this show

  • This will lift you higher! It was sung at my wedding almost 31 years ago now. Sadly, I'm divorced now, but this is still so inspiring to me.

  • tks sweetie

  • beautiful.

  • i really like to see you dancing in a difficult way..

    i love it..

  • this movie did more than just made me cry. It LIFTED me, higher than i expected.

  • the music, the book, the movie, all culminated to the greatest outcome period.

  • better than the revival version

  • My favorite movie (and song) from when I was a little girl! I always said that I would have that song played at my wedding!

  • Sad movie. I must be a wuss, 'cos I cry all the time when I see this movie.

  • I love this song and the new remake of the movie!! It is awesome!!!

  • i love this movie. very touching and romantic...

  • Her skating is so much more gracefull than the remake girl.

  • I bet that coach feels bad she ditched her.

  • I couldn't even do that with my vision.

  • Every time I watch this ending I think it's one of the best ever. I used to think Westside Story had the best, although sad, ending, How do you top this? Where can you go from the best? The music, the acting, the timing, the editing and most of all a performance that should have gotten an Oscar. Way to go Lexi !

  • she looks so young...

  • this is my fevorite movie in my life.

  • @motokoski it is so for me, every time I see this part I cannot stop crying and it makes me gook!

  • I cry everytime i watch this one...x

  • @Scotslass471 Me too. I was a figure skater and it breaks my heart to have had to stop. I wish I could go back :-)
