Because the Italians intentionally built their exhaust to be loud, as that's what they like. Audi built the exhaust to be "civil" in the R8. In Germany, people complain if the exhaust is too loud, even for a performance car. They're more concerned with a nice sturdy sounding interior noise, with a faint bit of engine noise, then screaming down the road at 110dB and ears bursting.

The r8 and the gallardo model lines have never been supercharged my friend.

They sound a bit different b/c the r8 has a different exhaust manifold and differnt exhaust system in general.

Although you're right, the lambo is higher pitched (i think it sounds much better) but not because of a supercharger because, as i said, both cars do not have them.

i think its not as loud as the gallardo, they just toned it down a little bit because audi is classy and the lamborghini is a LOOK AT ME shouty car. ive seen both v8 and v10 models of the r8 and the minor changes make the v10 much better looking.
