  • dont use sand my bearded dragon died because of sand. first of all they can ingest it. second of all it can cause impaction of the skin. when there babies use paper towels or eco carpet when they get older they can digest sand better. vita sand would work when ther older. besides thet nice setup!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • @beardieandme Their skin doesn't get impacted... Impaction is a blocked digestive tract, which can happen if a bearded dragon ingests too much sand/substrate.

  • Hello. Great video. :)

I want to know what software you used to go from picture to picture.

    Thank you.

  • did you have a lid on top or not

  • Your beardie has an epic name. :D

  • sand is bad for baby beraded dragons

  • EPIC VID !

  • can't sand harm them?

  • @123peterthepanda it depense there age adults is ok but baby inhail them and can efect there digestive system

  • i sense jealousy outraging from me beardie

  • I have a skull just like that in my leopard gecko's cage!!!

  • @JoeAndTeddy It has a screen lid on that end of the tank. That way it doesn't get to humid

  • you should see my science teachers bearded dragon setup...600 gallon tank with 5 deragons and a huge ass waterfall in it, its epic

  • @animal978 water features are bad for them. they will evaporate and become too humid.

  • how many gallons does a adult beardie need?and are they happy alone or do they need another 1 with them? im planning on getting1.

  • lol Boris is a boss of a name

  • i will be getting one that is 2-3 months old, soon. what will i need? the only tank i have is 10 gallons, and it was previously used for other lizards. (dont know what kind though).

  • how big is boris now? and if i was to get a baby bearded and i bought a 40 gallon tank how long do you think that would last? thanks

  • im getting one in the new year 2012 and should i have stones in it? my tank is like 25 inchs

  • @CallOfDuty3Killer Don't get any stones unless they are small.. My roomies just got a bearded, put a bunch of polished pebbles in there and all of a sudden he started swallowing rocks.. Not the best thing to put in the cage... For adults go with sand.. for babies go with astro-turf and make sure theres no frayed edged

  • @XAndrew88 ok thxs for ur advice

  • @CallOfDuty3Killer So he pooped out the rocks the following days, but still, rocks going through their digestive system just isn't a good idea.. They do it because they are looking for minerals to add to their diet.

    Anytime

  • @XAndrew88 ok so for a baby wht will it need for food

  • How many inches would you say a tank needs to be?

  • @make1me1a1sanwich it depends on the size of your beardy, but seeing as they grow quickly I would say for sure nothing smaller than a 40 gallon tank. As far as actual dimensions go I'm not sure what that measures out too. The enclosure mine lives in now (not shown in the video) is 2 feet deep, by 2 feet high, by 4 feet long. And some people argue that that's not even big enough.

  • nice design, like the dessert atmosphere!

  • i have a girl and she only grows to that big and ive had her for a year

  • nice setup! i hate the ones where they have nothing to do and climb on! beardies are actually very active

  • AWESOME CAGE!!!!

  • a 30 gallon is not a good size for its whole life, it will only work for maybe 6 months. these guys get about 2 feet in length and they need to be able to turn around and also hunt. 40 gallon breeder tanks are the absolute smallest you will want, they are wider and less tall. makes basking spots easier to position too. Of course you can always go bigger :3 A lot of people make a custom 4x2x2 wooden enclosure, some get 75 gallons even, but that takes a lot of room.

  • plz some1 answer .. is a 30 gallon tank good for a bearded dragon for his whole life ?

  • @TheTurtleKid07 30 is way too small. 75 gallon is what you need as a permanent home.

  • @hypnotic26 really ? what if you cant afford that size lol what about 50

  • @TheTurtleKid07 You can settle for 50, as long as it's only 1 dragon in the viv. I know money is an issue for most of us. You can also let your dragon roam around your room for exercise on a daily basis, that should be okay then :-)

  • @hypnotic26 Thanks :D

  • @TheTurtleKid07 no, you'll have to get a bigger one after about 6 months, min size 50 gallons.

  • I am going to get a bearded dragon soon from eather petco or lllreptiles any advise and get it off of sand

  • how much is a full setup for an adualt bearded dragon setup?

  • @tallfishman100 it depends on a lot of things. the most expensive piece is the aquarium itself, if you get a glass one it could be anywhere from 30 - 270 bucks (depending on it's size). you'll need a day lamp, night lamp, and a UV lamp, which can cost 7-12 bucks a piece, and they eat a lot. when they'll older the majority of their diet can be vegetation, but the young ones need lots and lots of crickets/mealworms, ext. They're cool to have but yes they can get expensive.

  • @ShredderCheddar you dont need a Heatpad or a nightime bulb depending on where you live.....If it gets under 65 degrees in your room or wherever you keep him then you do, but as i live in florida, my room is always at least 70 + (79)

  • @tallfishman100 $300- $500 (australian dollars)

  • HEY YOUTUBE LIKE BEARDED DRAGON VIDEOS!!? THEN YOU SHOULD CHECK OUT MY NEW HD VIDEOS ON BEARDED DRAGONS IM NEW TO YOUTUBE AND WOULD LOVE TO MEET NEW PEOPLE AND FRIENDS.. I WILL BE POSTING VIDEOS UP ALL THE TIME SO CHECK OUT MY CHANNEL AND SUBSCRIBE! :D

  • i strongly suggest that you should put news paper or carpet down when their that little. my cousins ingested sand and died

  • @MrHoody1234 the sand is harmful to any animal that consumes it, a safe consideration is to feed your lizard in a different container or use a thick natural mulch as a bedding. i've also seen people use a tile bottom and they clean the floor daily with a damp rag

  • Comment removed

  • @imaj4991 i realize the sand is bad because of impaction, but i feed him in a different enclosure. so he's safe lol

  • @ShredderCheddar Sorry about that, my little sister logged into my account and wrote that comment to you, I just found out about it in my email I got this morning telling me about your reply. I'll have to change my password so she can't log in anymore. Sorry :) P.S. Your lizard is cute.

  • i keep my beardie in a 34 gallon tank and all he does is eat, climb, bask, sit in his hammock the tank he came in is a 20 gallon tank but i dont trust repti-sand bcuz the fear of impaction

  • @chevymuddiger as long as he doesnt eat the sand theres no risk of impaction, and yea all Boris does is lounge around lol

  • check at petco i got a 20 gallon tank with the lights and sand and temp gauge and and food and water dish and some other odds and ends all for 70$ its perfect for a baby but you will need to buy a new and bigger tank in about 6 months.

  • @chambers104 this video is about a year old, i built him a habitat out of a hollowed out dresser about a year ago, its dimensions are 2ft (height) x 2f (depth) x 4ft (length)

  • I'd like it if there were no sand! haha

  • How much together (without the bearded dragon) does the setup cost?

  • @webkinzluv09 For a nice extra large reptile tank you're looking at about $200. $10 for non-adhesive shelf liner(or tile, the safest substrates, no impaction risk :)), for a dome light fixture and a UVB strip fixture about $60, for the bulbs (Reptisun 10.0 UVb STRIP not compact and a baskin bulb) about $30, a nice little hammock and other tank accessories allow yourself at least $50. So about $350 all together :).

  • @evDivia Dang.... well thanks im not sure about getting a beardie cuz i saw a vid on a baby 1 and they need like 30-40cricket 3-4times a day and ya i dont have that much money.

  • @webkinzluv09 no i have a baby bearded dragon and he only eats maybe 3 or 4 crickets per day,and maybe a little greens or fruit. and as adults about 80% of what they eat will be greens.

  • @chambers104 oh thats cool now ill most likely get one:)

  • @webkinzluv09 glass aquariums usually run about a dollar per gallon. so a 10 gallon tank is about $10, but as soon as you start getting into the 40+ gallon cages the prices go way up. i've seen 55 gallon tanks costing $172, which doesnt include lights, bulbs, bedding, climbing toys, basking rocks, or anything else you want to put in it. Bearded dragons are pretty expensive pets, and they need lots of care

  • @ShredderCheddar Dang thats really expensive

  • @ShredderCheddar Where are you getting tanks for a dollar per gallon? Petsmart is bleeding me dry.

  • @ShredderCheddar Yes and No I got my 80 gallon tank for $100

  • dude awesome setup im hoping to get a beardie for christmas

  • What kind of substrate is that?

  • hey guys i just got a bearedi and he is a rund 9 in and i was wondering if i could put sand in his cage

  • @honda300exxxxx I mean its easier to use repticarpit you can find it at Petco...

If you choose sand make sure he does not eat it.

  • @honda300exxxxx as long as your lizard doesnt eat the sand, it shouldnt be a problem. i use a mixture of sand and mulch in my newer cages

  • @skyxsickxsniper the tank you see in the video is a 29 gallon tank, and he grew out of that in about 6 months. that's why i had to make him a cage out of a dresser last summer lol its 2 feet deep, by 2 feet tall, by 4 feet long. But as far as glass aquariums go, you'll definetly at least a 40 or 75 gallon tank, they get pretty big and love to climb!

  • @ShredderCheddar i might be getting a bearded dragon 2 od u think they sell a big enough tank at petco?

  • @JacobLizard05 i've never shopped at a petco, so i wouldnt know man, i know petsuppliesplus stores and petsmart stores do.

  • i no tht cage i badass

  • that's a badass setup

  • +1 for the Beardies awesome name!

  • love the deer horns great addition

  • Ive heard sand is bad for the babies also, BUT, Boris seems to be doing well! So lay off people! It looks like Boris is in good hands!

  • sand can kill baby bearded dragons

  • good song chose and kool how u did that book thing

  • no not all the time mi baby bearded dragons ben on it for 4 mounths and hes in good shape no signs of impact likd the the setupe tho

  • Comment removed

  • no its not repti-sand, i forget what it's called. the setups in this vid are a couple months old, he's in a different tank now, im putting together a video now of it. but its got the uv bulb, night bulb and a day bulb in it, its legit!

  • @ShredderCheddar Any sand is bad buddy

  • dude u really need a uvb light..

  • Is that Repti-Sand in the tank? I've never used it, looks so smooth. Nice set ups. He's cute too.

  • @ffaqueen08 dont use repti sand it will kill your lizard on impaction
