Advanced Web browsing has always been one of the iPhone's selling point.
The point of this video is, you don't need to buy an iphone to have a decent browser, any cell phone released in a last few years will do (you know anyone who doesn't have one of those already?)
So practically, you can get an advanced browser for free, on any phone.
I started using Opera Mini on a Sony Ericsson K300, and have been a fan ever since.
Opera mini is kickass I have the unlimited data plan for $15 on my vu and most pages load in 5 seconds (AND THATS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE COUNTRY). In 3g, if you blink you dont even see a loading screen. Its that fast! Youtube is great on the vu also. Ide get the unlimited data plan if I were u (but Iphone's is $30 like the blackberry)
The Safari browser on the IPOD touch is about the only thing I hate on this device. Honestly it sucks. Would be nice to have a real browser like Opera Mini or a Mini version of Firefox.
Safari is pretty great although it doesn't have full flash either. I've got IE, skyfire, torch iris, and opera mobile on my phone. Opera is the fastest but skyfire does flash the best.

I had opera mini. It was useable, but not pleasant. I would use it if I couldn't get to a computer and NEEDED to find something out.
I now have an iPhone. It didn't break the bank as this video suggests and web browsing using Safari is awesome. It's intuitive, fast and almost feels like I'm using a real computer. Lack of flash sucks balls, but it beats the pants off Opera mini. And yeah, comparing software to hardware is like comparing colours and smells - it only makes sense if you're tripping.
I don't understand. Iphone is a phone/media player and opera mini is a browser. How in the slightest are they competing? You might as well be comparing photoshop to a logitech mouse.
The only reason opera mini is free is because it can be reproduced over and over again free.
Maybe they should be comparing the safari browser for iphone to opera mini.
I have the Samsung A737 and the MEdiaNet browser worked ok and the download service did too, but then I downloaded Opera Mini and after a day it started saying connection failure in the AT&T Mall and in Opera Mini. The phone's 3G or EDGE symbol would disappear even though before it had 4 bars of 3G. I then deleted Opera Mini and turned off and on my phone. Still no luck on MEdiaNet. I then attempted this after hard resetting the phone. Still no luck. If anyone knows anything please tell me!

'Better' is subjective. I can say that Opera Mini and Opera Mobile are better because they are faster (especially Mini), and can run on any device and not just iPhone.

Yes, I do have a self-correcting on-screen keyboard, but I also have a very comfortable physical keyboard.
I have a 2.8" screen, easy interface with 2 soft keys, answer call, end call, a dpad and two more button for my to assign to what I want. And no, I don't have 8 hr talk time, I have 12 hour talk time.
i have 1 button, a more comfortable keypad which require virtually no pressure, no your interface is not east because u need to cram your stylus into a corner. not many people like sonic, sorry. the cingular 3125 is fucking hage, u could stack 2 of mine and it still would be thinner. need a decent design and an easy to use interface. do u have a motion, proximity, and light sensor? wat tankredworst said is correct opera mini is faster then opera mobile on most phones. and search iphone 3g speed test, around 30 secs for iphone 3gs web page to be FULLY loaded, my opera mini on my nokia 5310 loads pages in like 2-3 secs. and if i had a data plan it would be cheaper then iphones cuz of fast rendering and compacting size of pages, but since i have t-mobile i only need t-zones 5.99 plan and i have unlimited internet. plus opera mini is FREE, and works on EVERY java phone.

I like Opera Mobile better than Opera Mini, but sadly you have to pay for the full version of Opera Mobile, which is actually quite close to Safari Mobile. But without multi-touch, I can't really recommend Opera Mobile/Mini... Maybe if the Blackberry Thunder gets multi-touch... We'll See...
why cant you, just cuz of the multi touch, opera mini works on a lot of touch screens actually, i don't think there is any other MULTI touch other then the iphone and other similar ones, but still just because of it not supporting multi touch you cant recommend it, you'd prefer effects to speed O.o plus im sure soon there will be a ported (non official) version on jail braked iphones/touch any way. i still could not handle safari mobile even if its a nice interface still, it lacks.
plus im not a big fan on full touch screens, i have tried the touch/iphone many times. i have never gotten used to the keyboard, i need buttons anyway it is cool for the effects, but with everything it lacks still i cant recommended it to serious phone users who use their phones for multi purposes, if i dont have my laptop i can live off my phone, my phone does every thing iphone can but multi touch and the tilt acceleration. those are not major features i look for in a phone :S

Um Snipereye64, lots of other browsers can comment on YouTube. The iPhone requires a separate app to view YT videos though! Whereas other phones come with Flash support.

Also, Wii's resolution is limited so Opera needed to implement zooming and panning... The point being that Apple didn't invent the stuff. Nokia, Opera, etc. did it before Apple. And yes, Nokia had it ages before Apple too. They used WebKit on their phones long before the iPhone came along.

Safari on the iPhone is a standalone browser like Opera and Nokia's browser, but it can't handle YouTube, and it isn't as fast as Mini. So Opera and Nokia have an advantage when it comes to regular browsers, and Opera Mini has the speed advantage.
Opera Mini loads full, normal sites. No mobile sites needed. That's the whole point of the browser.

MacOSXrulez, that's exactly the point. Opera Mini IS faster than Safari at loading full web pages. The page is compressed just like a JPEG file is much smaller than a BMP file because of compression. But it's still the full image. The full contents.
First of all, the regular Opera Mobile loads pages faster than the iPhone browser, but that's besides the point.
The point is that Opera Mini gets compressed data, so it's MUCH faster than iPhone-Safari. I mean, REALLY noticeable.
But Opera Mini DOES load the full webpages. You get all the FULL content. It's just that it's compressed to make it faster. Compressed doesn't mean that actual content is removed.

If you have a fast connection, there is no reason to switch.
But on a slow connection Opera Mini will outperform ANY browser significantly due to it's proxy compression.
BTW: The new Opera Turbo functionality does something similar for PCs.

I had opera mini. It was useable, but not pleasant. I would use it if I couldn't get to a computer and NEEDED to find something out.
I now have an iPhone. It didn't break the bank as this video suggests and web browsing using Safari is awesome. It's intuitive, fast and almost feels like I'm using a real computer. Lack of flash sucks balls, but it beats the pants off Opera mini. And yeah, comparing software to hardware is like comparing colours and smells - it only makes sense if you're tripping.

I have the Samsung A737 and the MEdiaNet browser worked ok and the download service did too, but then I downloaded Opera Mini and after a day it started saying connection failure in the AT&T Mall and in Opera Mini. The phone's 3G or EDGE symbol would disappear even though before it had 4 bars of 3G. I then deleted Opera Mini and turned off and on my phone. Still no luck on MEdiaNet. I then attempted this after hard resetting the phone. Still no luck. If anyone knows anything please tell me!

i have 1 button, a more comfortable keypad which require virtually no pressure, no your interface is not east because u need to cram your stylus into a corner. not many people like sonic, sorry. the cingular 3125 is fucking hage, u could stack 2 of mine and it still would be thinner. need a decent design and an easy to use interface. do u have a motion, proximity, and light sensor? wat tankredworst said is correct opera mini is faster then opera mobile on most phones. and search iphone 3g speed test, around 30 secs for iphone 3gs web page to be FULLY loaded, my opera mini on my nokia 5310 loads pages in like 2-3 secs. and if i had a data plan it would be cheaper then iphones cuz of fast rendering and compacting size of pages, but since i have t-mobile i only need t-zones 5.99 plan and i have unlimited internet. plus opera mini is FREE, and works on EVERY java phone.

Also, Wii's resolution is limited so Opera needed to implement zooming and panning... The point being that Apple didn't invent the stuff. Nokia, Opera, etc. did it before Apple. And yes, Nokia had it ages before Apple too. They used WebKit on their phones long before the iPhone came along.

you have absolutely no idea how good the YouTube app is since your ignorance has never told you to ever touch an iPhone, you have no proof that the mobile version of YouTube is better than the app, the app has more features and has a cleaner and better UI, so once again, stfu n00b

I don't have an N95. I never even mentioned what kind of phone I have, buddy.
Safari on the iPhone is a standalone browser like Opera and Nokia's browser, but it can't handle YouTube, and it isn't as fast as Mini. So Opera and Nokia have an advantage when it comes to regular browsers, and Opera Mini has the speed advantage.
Opera Mini loads full, normal sites. No mobile sites needed. That's the whole point of the browser.

YOU ARE SO WRONG NOOB, the only mobile version of Opera that loads normal webpages, not mobile one's is Opera Mobile, and because it has to load FULL webpages, it takes longer than Safari to load them (and Safari loads full HTML webpages too) so stfu before you say stupid shit, and your as ignorant as you can be, and mini also has the advantage of being a POS when it comes to features when compared to Safari, you are so full of yourself, give it up, you lost and are always saying the same shit

Actually, with Opera mini (not talking mobile) you have to ability to load the full web page or a mobile view, your choice.
Just thought people might like facts instead of rambling.

How would you know it's faster if you didn't even know if Opera Mini could load full pages?
I've never used the iPhone so I can't comment on that.

MacOSXrulez, that's exactly the point. Opera Mini IS faster than Safari at loading full web pages. The page is compressed just like a JPEG file is much smaller than a BMP file because of compression. But it's still the full image. The full contents.

You are incorrect.
First of all, the regular Opera Mobile loads pages faster than the iPhone browser, but that's besides the point.
The point is that Opera Mini gets compressed data, so it's MUCH faster than iPhone-Safari. I mean, REALLY noticeable.
But Opera Mini DOES load the full webpages. You get all the FULL content. It's just that it's compressed to make it faster. Compressed doesn't mean that actual content is removed.

I think I already explained to you that 'better' is a subjective term. To me, Opera Mini is better than the iPhone browser because it's faster and cheaper. To me, Opera Mobile is better than the iPhone browser because it's faster and has proper YouTube support.
Features? If counting features is what makes a better browser for you, good for you! That doesn't mean that everyone else counts features to determine which browser is better for them.

(cont.) not only did they needed a class action lawsuit for 3rd Party Apps, but if you even installed a 3rd party app, the new iPhone update would've become bricked cause apple didn't want that. I'm not saying that Blackberry and Windows are better for it, they both have it's pro's and cons. FOr example...Windows mobile wont sync with Apple machines, but iPhone is cross platform. Very inconvenient...

Wow...there's a lot of fanboys here about the safari vs opera. I have opera on my phone with WM6, and it's very fast, efficient, fluid and a bit better then PIE. It's mainly opinion, and I think people take opinions too litterally. iPhone is great, but they definately has it's weakness. I mean they needed to have a class action lawsuit just to start support on 3rd party apps. >_>
