  • my heart goes out to his family and friends

may his soul rest in peace

  • i don't understand why there are people out there who need to fuck with other people for no reason. my heart goes out to abhijit and eve.

  • poor guy. may his soul rest in peace.

  • The same person responsible for the murder of Eve Carson from UNC has also been charged with Mahato's murder. I'm glad they found the person responsible for he might have kept killing more innocent people. My prayers go out to the families of Mahato and Carson.

  • if he were a blonde haired, blue eyed, sexy female student, all the news outlets would be taking a shot...sad nobody even acknowledged his death! DEATH TO US RACISM AND CRIME!

  • it's sad to think that carson's life is made to be more important than mahato's life from the media coverage. carson's death could have been prevented if they gave equal investigative treatment to mahato since the same guy killed both of them

  • It had more to do with her being a pretty blond woman than anything. News covers whatever sells, if Mahato had been a doctoral white student he would have been covered the same. Keep in mind that major news didn't cover the death and rape of Channon Christian. News organizations are fickle and stupid but would it have helped in the assailants capture? He got caught because he killed again, only this time he was squealed out and the police had pictures of his face.

  • I think that the most ridiculous thing is that we would rather hear about the death of a pretty blond student than an accomplished doctoral student, regardless of race. The news only reports what people would most like to hear and they are good at it. It saddens me that we lost another great brain, we have so few.

Loser. It has nothing to with a pretty blonde girl being killed.

She was the student body president. The most important undergraduate student at UNC was laying dead at the center of Chapel Hill. She had hundreds of friends -- who made her the best memorial.

Most students, including white ones, don't get so much coverage.

I was talking about why the MEDIA focuses on her. It is a fact that the media prefers to focus on WHITE, PRETTY or FEMALE victims because the general public cares more about PRETTY WHITE and FEMALE. This is a FACT. The girl was all three.

My point was she got attention and he didn't. That had nothing to do with how many "friends" the girl had. Male & minority? You are expendable to society, period.

You replied to a post of mine 2 years old and call me a loser, how mature

  • This has nothing to do with race. She was the student body president. If you were part of an American university you would know how pivotal that role is. If the student body president is dead, there are many things in the university which would come to a complete halt. Recently, in this area, there was a shooting in exactly this vicinity and some white people were killed. There was no fuss about that in the media. Because that white person was no student body president.

  • @inaneframe I totally disagree. Why was the Stephen Lawrence murder case so big then?

You need to stop having a chip on your shoulder about 'race' my friend. That Eve girl was very popular, well known Etc. Whereas he was a shy, quiet immigrant from another country who no one really knew there.

  • @lavakava

There is more racism in India dude. Just ask any Black person who has just visited India. This is no race issue. The cops were looking for the criminals from day one. When those same criminals killed the blond girl, the cops found more evidence: 1) The photograph from the ATM, 2) the current city the criminals targeted. The cops eventually busted these guys and they are in jail now. The media was covering her because she was the president of the UNC students.Too big to not cover.

  • for more pictures, memories go to respectace dot com/mahato

  • Lets us all pray for Abhijit's parents to gather the courage to face these circumstances. May his soul rest in etarnal peace.
