Why is it is in most every other sport, the term 'greatness' is only defined by one thing...# of WINS...Jack Nicklaus, Boston Celtics, New York Yankess, etc., etc., yet when it comes to determining the best F1 driver, # of wins MEANS NOTHING? So, why the discrepancy?

Because the Yankees are a team not a person. So they can not be cut down in their prime. Robbed of their place in history and their chance to set those records. And the other thing is the greats that do die young in other sports don't die while pursuing their sport. Whether it's a team or individual sport, the consensus is always based on the number of championships, but apparently, this does not apply to car racing of any caliber. Who cares if someone died young? While tragic, it does NOT prove that Senna would have won more championships. That's like saying if Tiger Woods didn't have leg surgery last year, he 'could have' won both the Open AND PGA championships..but we know he doesn't win all of them...thus, it's just an 'assumption'.

actually the year that senna died. shumacher had to hit Damon Hill for the tittle, it was a 1 point champ. my point is if Damon Hill could do it and make shumacher make contact to win. why could'nt Senna do it? Ayrton was better then Hill in everyway. ayrton drove in F1 when they had more failures with the car. other then that he was a constant driver. not to mention having to race against other great drivers with more wins then anybody shumacher raced a tittle against. senna has more credit.
