How Old Is He? That Is Absolutely AWESOME To See Someone So Young & So Good As He . WAY To Go. What Is The Kids Name? I Hope YOU NEVER GIVE UP On Playing the Organ. Not alot of Organist Around. A Lost Art. You Should Be Proud. Keep Up The Great Work. Looking forwatd to hear more From You.
You might want to take a look at North Carolina School for the Arts. They have a fine organ program there. It is a "boarding high school" and you could have access to other music courses also. (Cameron Carpenter went there to high school.) This is a part of the University of North Carolina in Winston Salem and they have a residential high school program where you would be with other music sudents
@augustusturner1855 The organist at my church went to UNC School of the Arts and Eastman. I agree with augustusturner that you should consider that. Keep up the good work. We enjoy your postings.
One of these days, a good piece to do would be Marcello's Psalm 19 - Let the Heavens Declare the Glory to God. You do good work. Dont know your background but you sound as good as an organist I know who has played for 40+ yrs and another I know with a Masters in organ performance from New Orleans Baptist Seminary - both are good
I have an mp3 copy of this piece at the Cathedral of the Assumption in Louisville if you would like it. That might give you a better idea for a good tempo. I will warn you, when David Lang played it, it was a bit faster. I like your registration, by the way.
I really enjoy listening to you play this. Have you tried Karg-Elert's Marche Triumphale. I think you'd do a great job with it. A minor suggestion, pull the camera back so we can see you play the pedals.
i was searching on youtube for this to send to a future bride, and you're the only person on youtube that doesn't fly through it at 500mph and make very few mistakes. THANK YOU!
Request: Would you play Richard Dirksen's, "Rejoice ye pure in heart..." from the Episcopal Hymnal 1982. It is an impressive change to the usual tune for this hymn. I believe you could add some extra zest to it. Thanks!
I have a recording of Michael Murray playing this on the organ at Boston Symphony hall. The organ is an Aeolian-Skinner. I notice Murray goes through this piece by Lemmens much faster than you do on this video. When you start listening to the piece before you know it he is done. I like your slower tempo and phrasing.
The title says absolutely nothing about the tempo. It is a Toccata, indeed. "Fanfare" only refers to th character of the main theme at the beginning. (And, meanwhile, while I listen to it, I think that there are still mistakes.)
I am "hooked" on you videos! I came across them while searching through You Tube. Your performance is "first class". I can't get over how well you do at the organ for a boy of your age. What ever got you interested in the "king of instruments"? You make playing this Fanfare look so easy, but that comes with practice. You have a talent for the organ and excel, were other boys of your age have a talent for sports and they excel in their chosen field. You found your God given talent!! BRAVO
awwwwww...........I was so little!!!!! Maybe one day I'll take the time to start posting again. :)

This comment has received too many negative votes show
tempo to slow and a bit of improv here and there... not at all satisfying...

@frankflower69 I prefer it slower. You can hear the MUSIC. This isn't the Grand Prix, you know.

Can you imagine a march band (cause that's what a "Fanfare" is) marching through town at this tempo? ;-)

@octavebasse8 How long were you playing the organ?

You really put the joy in this piece, which other players forsake in the name of speed, and technique.

Quite well done, no mistakes, but I would play it a bit faster. Besides I think Lemmens meant it more soft when he wrote p and pp.
Angultimmarik 3 years ago
My opinion about the tempo is, that when he titled it Fanfare, he meant for it's tempo to be slower, versus titling it Toccata.

Well, there are for sure mistakes. I can find one in the first 10 seconds of the piece.

Looks to be an Austin console
edolch 3 years ago
agreed - looks somewhat like the Austin console where I go to church too. I wander how large this organ is.
photobug1963 2 years ago
It's a 52 rank Austin.
octavebasse8 2 years ago
This is great - one of our organists @ church played this as a Postlude on our 60 rank pipe organ - beautiful piece
photobug1963 3 years ago
very well done! i've heard this piece in cathedrals and this rivals that without question. by the way, the composer's first name is Jacques.
