It's kind of depressing that you can actually tell which part Carol worked on... even without the blatant Donkey Kong Country 2 reference, the span from 4:19 to 5:29 is, even with the glitchy hit-detection bees, somewhat slow and un-PANIC PANIC PANIC compared to the rest of the level, focusing more on your "aim and don't get hit lol" skills as opposed to platforming reflexes. It's usually not so much of a contrast, but when it's only one section of a level...

It looks like it uses that tileset, yeah, even if it's not an exact copy. It could be a DraQue background as well; Enix had a lot of really similar spritesets back in the day.

...What I'm curious about... isn't the dam background from a Megaman X game?

It's a reference to MegaMan X series. In that series, computers and robots that behave in ways they shouldn't are said to be "mavericks". Thwomps are typically moving verticaly, and the horizontal ones are weird, don't behave in the usual way - thus are "mavericks"

My justification was that that beginning segment that I restart many times at the dam section lasted so short each times that I couldn't really justify editing, and I was strapping for time (final video is 10:58 after all!)

So I figured the 'unmodified' one would be the one where I do it all in one shot.
