What would be the best set up for bombing a downhill? I currently have a carving deck, paris 150 mm trucks, orangatang durian 75mm wheels. What trucks, wheels, and deck should i get???
@SwitchDurianParis check out the eastside rocky bomber deck, caliber 40 degree white gold trucks and abec 11 big zigs, or if your an otang fan, in-heats.
@MotionBoardshop i am looking for a sliding and carving truck for my landy 952, what would you recommened? i was thinking randalls or callibers please help me. also what size mounting hardware should i use for having a top mount landy 925, thankyou so much please reply tonight

would the randal 42 work for the aperure deck by sector nine? Its a drop through but was made for the "sidewinder" trucks which totally suck balls. I already have this deck and really dont want to buy a new deck so yea...
I am planning to get The Switch deck, Pink powerballz or Zombie hawgs, Bear Grizzly trucks 181mm, Bones super red bearings 76mm 82a. And I like sliding, free riding and going downhill. Do u think its a good set up?
i am getting a loaded dervish. I want to get the bets overall parts for cruising, pumping, carving, and sliding. i am getting green bigzigs, but i dont know what trucks and bushings are the best for my needs
i have gullwing chargers and i was wondering if i put some dh bushings in it and put it on my evo would it do DH well or would it not be a good choick ? |
I understand that trucks don't really matter when it comes to sliding, however, what do you recommend for a Drop-through Board for maximum sliding capabilities?
I mean, precision trucks def look badass and all, but there really is no benefit for the average longboarder right? I mean, if I were pro I would go with the best of the best of course, but I don't think the rest of us need to pay 250 dollars more for something we won't even be able to tell the difference of.
hey, just wanted to ask how the bear 1040's response is when set up with soft bushings. i was planning on setting it up with venom 85a elim bottom, venom 83a barrel top for DH. i am 123 lbs. thanks.
I have a Rayne Avenger and I want to get a more of a DH setup so I want to get new trucks that are very low and stable cause the avenger is a top mount can any 1help me
@Staby27 if you want very stable at very high speeds but can still carve as hell get 50 degree gullwing stalkers but if you want super stable at 60mph or more get 40 degree gullwing stalkers
@IndianEli77 if you want a stable trucks but amazing at downhill get gullwing stalkers i have them they have the best stock bushings on any other cast truck very reboundy which is excellent for carving it carves really hard and the best thing is no speed wobble at me going45-50 mph
I just go my new landyachtz switch and got randall 180's with it, there very good for downhill but its seem impossible for standup slides... any ideas on either other trucks or loosening or anything.....message me plz... that would be great thanks!
@SummerLongboards change the bushings, I have the same setup. just use venom cone bushings and you will slide and carve like a mofo. What wheels r u using??
Proof is that if you try it you would realize the turning radius remain the same (it just feel diferent cause of the ride hight and the stability) also if you check the "Randal-flipped-diagram" image on the net , you will notice the pivot axis is remain the same
huh?? wait a minute here >> reversing the hagner dont change the angle ,it just change the ride hight and the stability (Cause the angle is "from the pivotcup to the hagner bushing plate" so it always remain the same angle) >the thing that change the angle is putting lower bushing in the bottom or wedging the trucks
I'm getting the Avenger soon for my DH board and I was wondering what trucks I should get I will be going 30-60 mph on straight-aways and technical courses. I want a stable, really nice truck I can rely on. thanks!
2 questions I cant find an answer to and would appreciate a hand why do people have old style trucks on the back and new style on the front, and how do I set up wedged risers? I think I have got the risers right but am not sure.
I currently ride (mostly a scrub deck with randall 180s, black bushings bones red and 98mm flywheels green in the dry and XT in the wet
ok this is my setup : Landyachtz SwitchBlade 181mm Bear Grizzly 852 Truck 70mm Metro Motion Freeride Wheels - Radtastic Red (80a) Bones Reds Bearings 0.25" Khiro Soft Shock Pads Risers. "flipping you paris hanger is not very good. sure it is lower, but it really isnt good for the truck. it has an offset bushing seat, so when flipped it has a larger space between the plate and the seat. in order to aline it, you have to shim the bushing, or just crank the pivot into the wrong spot. it really isnt designed to flip. you can do it, but it isnt good for it. i wouldnt."
I cant decide between paris or randal for freeride, right now im riding chargers with venom bushings but they just don't feel stable at higher speeds. What will give me more stability without sacrificing carve ability? thanks!
@SoldierSide36 PARIS. randal may be better for downhill, but paris is better for carving and i easily go 45 mph with my paris, and some hard barrel bushings. i would go with paris all the way man
@Mateoapex34 obviously you are deaf hellen keller he explained they are like cut out more precise to make for a better ride, also if you are blind to they installed bearings in the hanger and pivot...they are also more precise on there measurements on there axles! the explains all this in the video btw! maybe re-watch it?

@sontompa if your looking for turnier trucks downhill trucks are not good for you. If you want turny trucks get paris's. Downhill trucks are made to be stable and not be turny
@mrPACarrier for freeride, i would just go paris, but if you want it to do a little bit more bombing that paris, go for 50degree randall with some venom bushings, and your all set.
i just bought a longboard pintail but i have a question... is it normal that front wheels i mean the truck turns to the oposite side of the board?.... i mean when i turn the booard or bend to the right the front truck turns to the left whats wrong with it?
@pkdukesnides1 yes sir, i hit about 35-40 today, good idea to have some 90a barrel at least on board side or something tho (at least 90a barrel works well for me and my 165lb friend). I hit 35-40 with 80a conical roadside and 86a barrel board side, not exactly a downhill setup, but it works fine up to 35-40. I got 1 wobble today from about 35, but that's mainly my fault for coming backup too fast after a toe side hand down turn = too much weight into my backfoot = wooble = road rash..
what's the duro on those stock grizzly bushings? i weigh no more than 120 lbs, am about 5'6 - 5'7, and i'm planning to put the 852s on a LBL sea calf. and i want to set the trucks up so that they're somewhat carvy, but stable for hill bombing too. should i change the bushings? i'm thinking of venom elims, but i dont know which duro/ duro combination. thanks.

im using paris 180s on my downhill setup with red and green venom barrels, is this a good downhill truck or should i change to my randals or my bears?
Bro I have a question... My girlfriend got me Seismic 180mm truck with Stable-Turn 30-degree geometry. What I would like to know if I can use them for downhill or if I can do nice slides with them? thanks in advance.
I wanted to get into downhill some more...so like some medium bombing but i want to be able to turn enough...so not as much as carving but not incapable of turning
im getting some orangatang stimulis i was going to use my old durians but they are too big and the stimulis are the same pretty much...i may get some retro zig zags eventually but until then im just gonna use my stims for like medium downhill sliding type stuff
@THE6POINT0REJECT go with something with a round lip, like a retro freeride, a zombie hawk 84a, or something like that, but yeah, stimulus are good wheels.
yeah i was thinking about some orange zig zags..but i saw something called the orange plus zig zags...idk what they are but i may look into them some more.
@THE6POINT0REJECT zigzags orange plus is a retro zigzag, in 89a, thats too hard, i would say go with retro freerides 86a, a stimulus 86a or a hawk zombie 84a
hello people, can you help me out with this? okay so im trying to find out what trucks are like the best, i mean THE BEST and the lightest trucks that can handle anything, tell me what you think
hello people, can you help me out with this? okay so im trying to find out what trucks are like the best, i mean THE BEST trucks that can handle anything, tell me what you think
I have the worst trucks for DH, something like gunmetal magnums. But i just tighten em up and ta daa. but its not stable enough but i live with it. Im gonna buy sum DH bushings, do a little tuning here and there. and hopefully it feels better :) LB 4 life
Hello. im in need of help right now. i have a sector 9 tree barrel longboard. it is a dropthrough deck. first question is, can all trucks be used for drop through? or can you only use specific trucks? and would randal 180/42 degrees be good for carving and bombing and everything pretty much. and what do bushings do? im kind of new to longboarding :) thanks for help!
the trucks that came with my longboard were some gullwing misson 1 trucks they measured 8.375" in axle. I really wanna upgrade for some trucks that will be all around great for downhill and carving... especially since the hills whre I live have a few turns and some are tight.
my longboard itself is Lenght:30'' Width:8.25'' Wheel base:19''
What would you recommend I was looking at the Bear 852's but if theyre 181mm in axle then thats 7.125''
do not get the randal 42s if you have a drop deck i did and my board dragged when i tried to make any sort of turns with it. i tightend them as much as i could and still the board draged on the pavement
can all trucks have their kingpin facing out or in? i have a pintail right now and the stock trucks have the kingpin is facing in so if i were to upgrade trucks do i have the kingpin facing in or out? thanks
when freeriding, light bombing, and carving... would it be better to have a randal rII 180 with a 50* plate and i could flip it.... or have a 42* plate and leave normal... my deck is the tan tien
i just got a pair of gullwing 50 degrees complete trucks if i changed the hangers to bears or randals would it make it more stable, because my trucks suck for downhill
obviously they don't physically change the angle of the pivot but EFFECTIVELY they do. Flipping a 42* randal is like switching from a 45* to a 39* baseplate with a non-raked hanger.
do caliber white gold trucks turn as tight as randals or paris?

Tobybbrown 1 year ago
@Tobybbrown

86a Pastel Blue Venom SHR Downhill Barrel bushings boardside and 83a pastel yellow roadside im 145lbs. Is this good for my weight?
THE6POINT0REJECT 1 year ago
@THE6POINT0REJECT it depends what you wanna do (carving, Dh, etc..)

@sk8er37dus
I wanted to get into downhill some more...so like some medium bombing but i want to be able to turn enough...so not as much as carving but not incapable of turning

THE6POINT0REJECT 1 year ago
@THE6POINT0REJECT awesome! :D, and witch wheels de you have?
sk8er37dus 1 year ago
@sk8er37dus
im getting some orangatang stimulis i was going to use my old durians but they are too big and the stimulis are the same pretty much...i may get some retro zig zags eventually but until then im just gonna use my stims for like medium downhill sliding type stuff
THE6POINT0REJECT 1 year ago
@THE6POINT0REJECT go with something with a round lip, like a retro freeride, a zombie hawk 84a, or something like that, but yeah, stimulus are good wheels.
sk8er37dus 1 year ago
@sk8er37dus
yeah i was thinking about some orange zig zags..but i saw something called the orange plus zig zags...idk what they are but i may look into them some more.
THE6POINT0REJECT 1 year ago
@THE6POINT0REJECT zigzags orange plus is a retro zigzag, in 89a, thats too hard, i would say go with retro freerides 86a, a stimulus 86a or a hawk zombie 84a
sk8er37dus 1 year ago
@sk8er37dus
yeah i know i got some stims 86...

sorry for the questions but what trucks in your opinion are the best the bear grizzly 181 mm trucks or the original s8 200 mm trucks?
nirvana50325 1 year ago
hello people, can you help me out with this? okay so im trying to find out what trucks are like the best, i mean THE BEST and the lightest trucks that can handle anything, tell me what you think
nirvana50325 1 year ago
@nirvana50325 in my opinion, the Original S8 trucks. They handle everything, carving, sliding, downhill most of the time. Hope this help :)
kokaPRinter 1 year ago
@nirvana50325 There is no "best" truck.It differs by every person.If you want a good all-around truck,go for some Randals.

@patsnissislikethis yeah, you dont need specials wheels
sk8er37dus 1 year ago
did you flip the kingpin on all those trucks? if so, how does that affect the truck and how it rides?
M3talm0nst3r 1 year ago
so with bear u can flip one way for carving and the other for more downhill??
dustin102432 1 year ago
@patsnissislikethis if you can buy smokeys, you can buy also 10mm bearings......
sk8er37dus 1 year ago
u guys need to get "original" trucks they have springs and make for great carving. plus there heavy duty springs make for great downhill action.
SuperSupertimmy 1 year ago
@SuperSupertimmy
how heavy are the original trucks?

sk8er37dus 1 year ago
I have the worst trucks for DH, something like gunmetal magnums. But i just tighten em up and ta daa. but its not stable enough but i live with it. Im gonna buy sum DH bushings, do a little tuning here and there. and hopefully it feels better :) LB 4 life

usuariocaralho 1 year ago
Hello. im in need of help right now. i have a sector 9 tree barrel longboard. it is a dropthrough deck. first question is, can all trucks be used for drop through? or can you only use specific trucks? and would randal 180/42 degrees be good for carving and bombing and everything pretty much. and what do bushings do? im kind of new to longboarding :) thanks for help!
Andryanshivs 1 year ago
how are the paris 195s?
Loadeddervishrider 1 year ago
the trucks that came with my longboard were some gullwing misson 1 trucks they measured 8.375" in axle. I really wanna upgrade for some trucks that will be all around great for downhill and carving... especially since the hills whre I live have a few turns and some are tight.
my longboard itself is Lenght:30'' Width:8.25'' Wheel base:19''
What would you recommend I was looking at the Bear 852's but if theyre 181mm in axle then thats 7.125''

jobtin007 1 year ago
@jobtin007 Yes, it's what i use. I run double Barrel 91a Venom SHR bushings. I've gotten up to 40.
MrEmerican 1 year ago
so when flipping the hangers, do you flip the bushings with it or do they stay and your just flipping the hanger? i have 2010 bear 852's

if i flip my trucks do i need to flip the bolt?
vexywexy 1 year ago
I'm glad I got the randal 50degrees they're so nice for downhill and cruising
TheAirsoftScout 1 year ago
do not get the randal 42s if you have a drop deck i did and my board dragged when i tried to make any sort of turns with it. i tightend them as much as i could and still the board draged on the pavement

Hey Motion Board Shop
I'm all about down hill and i reach speeds around 45 mph, i tend to get speed wobble a lot causing more then a few wipe outs any recommendations?
Thanks.
jo3ker95 1 year ago
@jo3ker95 speed wobbles dont have much to do with your trucks it mostly confedence if your nervous your more likey to get speed wobbles
MrLongboarder94 1 year ago
when freeriding, light bombing, and carving... would it be better to have a randal rII 180 with a 50* plate and i could flip it.... or have a 42* plate and leave normal... my deck is the tan tien
sk8skiboard3 1 year ago
@sk8skiboard3 50* plates with softer bushings. or you could go prandal and have alot of fun.

I looking for trucks you can turn good on, any tips?

Flipping hangers on Randals doesn't change the degree of the pivot...
hellsambassador666 1 year ago
@hellsambassador666
obviously they don't physically change the angle of the pivot but EFFECTIVELY they do. Flipping a 42* randal is like switching from a 45* to a 39* baseplate with a non-raked hanger.
MotionBoardshop 1 year ago
@MotionBoardshop It changes the castor which is how the truck feels when it turns. Due to the downward force exerted on the hangers.
hellsambassador666 1 year ago
hey! i just bought regular r2 randalls.. are they good for downhill if u flip them?
orrymannen 1 year ago
@orrymannen
They work well for DH when flipped. They won't be as stable as a lower angle plate, but they are better than when unflipped.
