This is a really great video. I lived in Tokyo for two years, about the time you posted this. So many of the street performers I have seen. I've showed this video to my family and friends back in NZ. Thanks for sharing, it's very well done!!
Unfortunately I have never been there yet, but I really love Japan. Japanese girls are beautiful, and Japan has the best technical stuff all over the world. :D
I love seeing videos like these! It's so wonderful to experience the culture through videos like these. :D Btw, Does anyone know the song from this video? It's really nice. xD
I love this remix of "Lazy Eye- Silver Sun Pick Ups". Have a source?
You put alot of heart in the editing of this footage. I felt some emotion. The music went so well with it. Much like you did, I'm waiting for that moment as well.
But, I do not speak or read any Japanese what so ever, will I have problems when I go there? Or do a lot of people there speak english/understand english, and are there english signs and what not?
@S33LiN4 not many speak English but don't be afraid to go, there is always a way to communicate even without language and sooner or later you're gonna find someone who does. In a way, going there without knowing the language will be like going with blurry vision, but still, even with blurry vision you can hear! haha, that doesn't make sense but hope you know what I mean
i always wanted to go to japan. more like kyoto or osaka. i tried taking a japanese 101, so if ever do go i wont' get lost. but it was way too hard for me and not so good on memorization. but i'm afraid of what happened there won't be anything else left. they seem so down to earth and fun to hang out, especially the tokyo rockabilly club, that was cute. thanks so much for uploading this!!
@1281247124 I don't mean to be rude, but that sounds like it would be ass going there with "blurry" vision. That is one my fears of going there is how i'd get by without knowing any of the language and it sounds like it would be tough. How the hell am I suppose to find people that speak english there anyways?Yell out loud to a crowd that I only speak english and hopefully someone comes to my rescue? It's suprising to me because I heard that they all take english in school so you'd think have a basic
@whatever25 Yea I know that feeling like AAAAHHH I WONT BE ABLE TO DO ANYTHING BECAUSE I CANT TALK TO PEOPLE AAAAH, but words are only so much, it's like, you go into a restaurant, point at something, and they ask you something back and you look confused back at them, and then some guy sees you're in trouble and yells "hot!" from the otherside of the room and you understand that the girl was trying to tell you the food is spicy :P it's not a made up example it's just one example of me traveling
@whatever25 I can understand that it's not something for everyone but for me it was fun, and occasionally instead of someone yelling "hot!" it's someone explaining to you in fluent english, has happened to me too, protip: ALWAYS say their english is good, they'll be so happy :D
Cette vidéo est juste magnifique, un grand bravo pour ce merveilleux moment, cela rappelle énormément de souvenirs à tout ceux qui ont vécu des instants inoubliables à Tokyo ... Merci !
I love this video so much and the music is great as is Beautiful Strangers. You did a really good job and one day I want to go to Tokyo and create an awesome video like this. But i have one question where was this opening shot taken? Is it Shibuya?
Excellent! I can imagine myself in your video. You hit all the familiar spots that I miss so very much. I would move back in a heartbeat if I could. Thanks for sharing this great video.
@elitechrstn ah, it was amaaaazing!! definitely the best time of my life!
The food was unbelievable (especially the sushi), the people are incredibly friendly and there is a lot to see & do especially for young people xD The city is so busy and noisy but in a good way ;)
I will definitely visit Japan and Tokyo again, I could even imagine living there for a while :)
You have an amazing eye...you've really captured the big, frenetic craziness of Tokyo but also it's little things, the small intimate things. I love it!!
This is very well done. The music fits the scenes. You captured the feeling. I've been to Taiwan Korea The Philippines and Japan. Japan is my favorite.

I think I saw the most awesomeness video on youtube! I LOVE IT! I want to go to Tokyo, Japan someday! I'm looking for some friends to join me. How much would it cost for 2 weeks in Japan?
definitely badass. I traveled around rome and china, and I didn't have a camera and it sucked. Specially b/c im a future film student. So im now in boring ass america about to buy my hv30 and going to go backpacking overseas to tibet, nepal, india, vietnam, thailand, indonesia, australia, and japan! I will SHOOT EVERYTHING! Your video is very inspirational. What's the name of the song by the way?
fantastic video good angles and great way to capture the energy and bustle of tokyo. to be totally honest i thought that this was a high budget film for the city or something great, fantastic work, love every last bit of it.
I was considering gettin the HV 30 but after seeing this footage i am definately getting one today! this is awesome work! did canon pay u for this? lol
I have my CANON HV30 bought last year December 2008 and I'm going to Japan next month. I can hardly wait. I'd like to shoot some videos like this one.

Hi there. A little help please. I've been trying to upload my HDV 24P Cinemode video from my hv30 to Sony Vegas but it can't. Do you know what I should do? I would definitely appreciate any help. Thanks.
Hi Markus. I just got my Canon HV30 today at the customs office here in the Philippines. I paid its tax but it's okay. It's been two hours and I've been playing with it. Playing around with focus and defocus. It's fun. It's really great. I tried to upload it using SONY VEGAS but to no avail. How do I upload it to my laptop? A little help please!
I need some help right now. Please help me guys. What's the difference between CANON HV30 and CANON ivis HV30? What is CANON Vixia HV30? I'm going to buy one. Which is it? Please help!
movienoob is right, I couldn't afford one of those nice 35mm adapter lenses, so I just simulated the effect in Final Cut Express using a vignette effect. it's nowhere near as cool as getting an actual lens, but much more affordable, thanks for watching!
im planning to go to tokyo and i was looking good camera...i guess this video is the one im looking for...shows the beauty of tokyo and shows the awesome camera hv30 is.. THANK U!
NIIICCCCE! Everything about this film ROCKS! (I call it "film" becouse it's much more than just a video.) If only I'd had my HV30 in Hong Kong all those years ago! Love S.E. Asia!
Brilliant! This may very well be the best vid on utube! I've been watching as many HV 30 videos as I can, Y'all got me convinced, This is the camera for me!!!
Yeah, I'm sure this video was going to include many more interesting location shots, such as skydiving, coasting down mountains with zip lines, etc... but the guy went and wasted the funds he would have needed for those activities on a CRANE rental!
...or maybe that was hand-held footage on a descending escalator. Who knows?
haha i see. well its a very well done piece. and im doing a media studies course and im just curious as to how amateur filmmakers on a tight budget or no budget achieve good shots with maybe some tips and tricks tt could mimic a crane of some tracks
sorry i didn't respond sooner! johnny's got it. I was just standing on an escalator and holding the camera above the heads of the people in front of me. thanks to the both of you for watching!
ahhhhhhhhhh i see. I was under the impression you used a crane because the descent looked so straight! bloody well done video. im looking to get teh HDR SR11 by sony
I got to really give it to you. This video and the music are excellent. Love the effect of coming and going and the day and night and the music. I've been watching and sharing it a lot. It's excellent cinematography.
I've been in Tokyo this August just after you, for a week, and that is exactly how I remember it. You have captured the moment. Thank you for sharing your art and hope to see more of them world travel moments on video, my picture music videos just don't cut it. Cheers!

Great. Your editing is really seamless. This could be used for a Japan travel video or something.

did you put on a 35mm adapter for some scenes? because in the narrow DoF scenes, I see blurry edges. Which kind did you use?

Probably some kind of editing effect in Final Cut, I was seeing it too.

I need some help right now. Please help me guys. What's the difference between CANON HV30 and CANON ivis HV30? What is CANON Vixia HV30? I'm going to buy one. Which is it? Please help!

Thanks Markus!

movienoob is right, I couldn't afford one of those nice 35mm adapter lenses, so I just simulated the effect in Final Cut Express using a vignette effect. it's nowhere near as cool as getting an actual lens, but much more affordable, thanks for watching!

It's not that hard to learn how to do the vignette effect on FINAL CUT EXPRESS, is it? A little tip for the dummies please. I would appreciate it.

it's not hard at all. you can adjust the size, the amount of blur, the amount of darkness, it's great.

How did you achieve the opening and closing shots? Did you use a crane?
caledfwlch 3 years ago
Yeah, I'm sure this video was going to include many more interesting location shots, such as skydiving, coasting down mountains with zip lines, etc... but the guy went and wasted the funds he would have needed for those activities on a CRANE rental!
...or maybe that was hand-held footage on a descending escalator. Who knows?
johnnytastetest 3 years ago
I wasn't criticising him. Im just curious as to how he achieved that effect.
caledfwlch 3 years ago
I know.
I was just making fun of the fact you thought he rented a crane.
johnnytastetest 3 years ago
haha i see. well its a very well done piece. and im doing a media studies course and im just curious as to how amateur filmmakers on a tight budget or no budget achieve good shots with maybe some tips and tricks tt could mimic a crane of some tracks
caledfwlch 3 years ago
sorry i didn't respond sooner! johnny's got it. I was just standing on an escalator and holding the camera above the heads of the people in front of me. thanks to the both of you for watching!

Cheers!
