  • the only thing I would replace is the small one handed striker and matches with 2 bic lighters in a old sealed vitimin bottle filled with the lighters, cotten balls and lard. you also should replace the firesteel with a magnesium firestarter because if your lighters somehow get wer (with my old vitimin bottle setup it's nai impossible) you don't need dry tinder if you have magnisium. And I would add a poncho so that I could have a roof to my shelter. Other than that everything else is great.

  • @andrewsheldonreeves - Thanks for your comments. We don't add Bic lighters to our kits because the fuel can leak in shipping. There are much better lighters on the market (e.g., "Storm-Proof") but they add a lot of cost to the kit. There is space to add those kinds of items, however (unlike in tins), which is why we go with silicone coated pouches -- so you can add some tinder you find along the way and keep it reasonably dry.

  • @SurvivalMetrics well you don't even have to add a real poncho. A lowly garbage bag will do. and I like the silicone coated pouches. for my fire kit i use a watertight fish oil vitimin bottle (with no vitimins in it) , then I melt down lard and pour it on the bottom and let it harden. I place a piece of cotten cloth over the lard to keep it from getting the cotten balls I add to the bottle messy. After that I add 2 clear cheap disposable lighters. You can eat the lard asWell

  • @andrewsheldonreeves - Our more advanced versions have large 25 gallon poly bags for use as vegetation stills, which can double as shelter building material, in addition to the shelter component. The lard is a good idea - but we add Wetfire Tinder and Tinder Quick Wicks - which are better suited for a commercial kit due to their packaging.

  • This looks like its a more comprehensive Escape and Evade kit than the smaller one from another company we reviewed last year. this may be worth reviewing when the economy picks up again.

  • @weaponeer - Thanks for your comments. We have a full line of E&E Kits - some only for sale to the military, on our site. The one represented here is our most economical model. More videos outlining the others in the series are coming soon.

  • @SurvivalMetrics - look forward to seeing more of them. Our purchasing budget for reviews this year has already been expended (due to the economy, and army disability income). Thankfully we still have 50 times to review yet this year, and an all new video introduction. We look forward to the future when we are able to purchase and review your kits on our channel. I think our 6600+ subscribers would be interested in seeing them.
