@bballdaniel3 gold minerals can be harvested faster than normal minerals and usually give you a crazy amount of income, any time you can safely get a gold mineral expansion you should, the insane income is really worth it. and mules can harvest minerals a lot faster than scv's, and they can be called down from an orbital command, lol and if you get a few mules on a gold expo your income is gonna be off the charts.

Has anyone noticed that whitera splits his probes every game, and this game i finally confirmed that he builds his second probe far later then if you just clicked all the probes and right clicked a mineral patch. Atleast now everyone knows that they can rush whitera 1 second faster then any other pro player

@lassek85 If you notice whitera's nexus can't build the second probe untill the first one is finished, if you split normaly and just right click a mineral patch with all the probes selected then its more effiecent, not by much but pro's like whitera can use every second they can get, just watch near the beginning, the first probe builds then a second later he starts the second probe, when i split normally i can build my second probe 2-3 seconds before my first probe is done.

@lassek85 Its inefficent, and its not really micro heavy as its just kinda slowing down how fast you can make a probe and continue to build the second probe, it takes extra time to split the probes and even more time as it gives you minerals slightly slower, iv seen just doing 5x1 and 2x3 and 2x3 is like 2-5 seconds worse depending on how fast you do it, but its never better, thats what I am trying to say.

Microheavy means that the micro is too much to be efficient (just to clear that up for you). Well try out to split 2x3 and once u get used to it it WILL give you larger return - the probes (if u may) will always give you more if they have t travel less distance, which they do if you micro right from the beginning.

@lassek85 Dude, I timed a replay of whitera spliting his probes the way he does, and me spliting my probes the way I do, i build my second probe 3 seconds faster, its because he spends time moving his probes which makes building his first probe take longer, and then the split ends up not getting him enough minerals to build a second probe as fast as he could, this ends up costing seconds which you could avoid just by simply 5x1 splitting your probes, its faster and requires less micro.

yeah but IF you read the replies you would have seen i dont advocate the way whitera splits em i advocate 2x3, which doesnt require more micro than 5-1 and always gives u even spread with fastest possible route for probes, drones or scv to the mineral.

If you target mid minerals instead you speed early but dont get even spread throughout to decrease micro.

@lassek85 Ahhh ok, I was really just trying to get across that whitera has been splitting wrong this whole time, and honestly I can go on to say 2x3 does take more micro and thus causes you to build your first probe slower, but I do understand that 5x1 has a disadvantage that 2x3 gives, where probes do get to the minerals faster, but the thing is when you 5x1 you get enough minerals to build a second probe before the first ones done, thus making it the easiest/most efficient way to split.
