Pacquiao had already suffered KO defeats in his past, so he could better handle defeat at this stage of his career. Cotto couldn't, even against a C class fighter in Michael Jennings he struggled to adjust himself to the ring. He could've jumped on Jennings and taken him out in the first round, it was that one sided.

Believe me, my opinion is within good logical reason. I do not discredit Pacquiao's performance. He executed the gameplan to a T. I recall a certain Sugar Shane Mosley whom was more than willing to take whatever money and fight Pacquiao at 140lbs, 5lbs lower than the catch-weight bout against Cotto. He refused to defend his 140lbs title against a 38 year old SSM who is accustom to fighting at 147-154 for 10 years. It's been 10 years since he fought that low and that was at 135lbs, Pac wanted none of SSM at 140-147.

They chose Cotto for a reason and not just money.
