Hello, this is STILL my absolute favourite video of all times. Thanks again, and again, and again..... for the awe I feel everytime I watch it. Cheers!
I love the hair! Lovely blooms. I just bought a similar one minus all the hair and i think it already flowered because nothing has happened to the little purple buds and its been over a week here at my home. Im upset i just missed the bloom... but i have another small one that i got my mom and it has 3 buds coming up and one of mine has a large white flower (the rest of the plant looks dead- bought it to try to save it)
That was BRILLIANT! Love it thank you for sharing! I also love the music, my Mom and I used to watch the movie Fantasia and this reminds me of its wonder!...
You're welcome! 1100 photos? amazing! I have one question, on the bowl, I see reflections and slow movements over time, you said the whole thing took 3 weeks, (!!!) so what is moving so slowly over that time?
The cactus was growing in a small pot that was placed in a glass bowl. Once a week I would pour a little water into the bowl and the water would enter the cactus pot from the bottom.
What you see is the glass bowl getting wet after my watering.
i m ilove with cacti now. lol i just got some at the airport.. i dont even no how to care for it. that's a bummer. and the weather in oregon isnt hot.. hopefully they live..!!
I have a question do cacti live year round or they die..when it come to winter and grow back in the summer??
I love the music you chose. The 'Dance of the Flowers' seems to suite the opening and closing of the buds. Do they blossom at night when insects or birds are out and about to pollinate them?
I'll look out for that, I'm sure it would interest my son, he likes photography and filmimg, but is just starting out. A video of his is on my channel. I enjoyed your seedlings video too.
I enjoyed watching your time-lapse catus video. Our son has a catus collection also and this is one of his favorite cacti...I am sure he will enjoy watching it too. ~~ Karen

They probably do blossom at night like mosy cacti do, but I couldn't tell since my lights were on them constantly for about two weeks.
Thanks for your kind comment.

it's fascinating how they open and close, any idea why they do that? Excellent videos by the way ;)
tortoise69 4 years ago
I have no idea why the cactus does that. Maybe to conserve water? Good question and I'll look into that. Thanks.
djacob7 4 years ago
Very good, love the way it goes with the music - and you built your own gadget to take the photos!Well done.

Mammillaria, it seems. Too bad you could not catch the red fruits forming if this species does so, but they take a long time to come.

Good idea! I'll be looking for fruit-bearing cacti and try one of those. Thanks.
