  • It would work better with a bicycle pump and you need to put put more pressure in it.

  • pilot: ok Im ready to launch

*launches and rockets to the ground*

    oh noooooooooooooooooooooooo *crashes* X_X

  • Just hold a hose onto bottle and it will fill up and do exact same thing

  • I just did this, but we didn't let off the air and it got to about 100 psi. It exploded next to my friend. We both were partially deaf for a good 5 minutes. It was loud and the bottle vaporized, couldn't find it anywhere.

  • Very dangerous

  • make a playform with a tube that fits snugly in the opening. Then pump till she goes :D. thats what I used to do and they went around 100 feet high

  • at least they are playing outside ;)

  • You should seriously consider building a trebuchet. That would be really awesome!

  • No need to. that's been done before.

  • add a de Laval nozzle and you would have a powerful rocket

  • put powder instead of water and a fuse instead of air a you get.... A FIREWORK :D

  • flippy

  • Holy crap.

  • his mum is

  • Dx3

  • I agree jorge

  • Meanwhile, in Canada....

  • put some wings on that to fly straight

  • he is preparing for a zombie attakc

  • is that helium o.o?

  • @2Young2PIay nope it's plain air straight outta an air compressor.

  • la la

  • All of em hAD no direction!! they wer all random!! bUT still Cool!!

  • lol man glue a fucking stick or duct tape it and it will flew more better

  • your not to supposed to throguh it

  • i tried this once or twice and it was FUN

  • the trajectory of the projectile is as joyous as the launcher!

  • looks... like a.. fun time to spend ur afternoons... >_>

  • that's cool i wanna do that!

  • ahh yess.. the caveman stage of bottle rocket building. *ugh ugh grunt grunt* "look wat bottle can do with air tube" *grunt grunt*

  • Lol he probably built that house behind him.

  • haha the happy look on his face is priceless when he fills up the bottle with air

  • My water bottle rocket does the same thing but I use a push pump.

  • Man, nice rockets. Make'em a launch ramp and it will be a lot of fun.

  • haha

  • we did that in science olympics, except since it was a competition to see how high and long the rocket flew, it didnt get quite that sort of dismal performance, but it is the right concept

  • @plane15man whats school were u

we didnt make it our team got 7th

  • @Wowblogger Thompson, I dont remember what we placed though. I know we got to states though

  • is that a brazil jersey your wearing

  • lol if it hit the car

  • should of stood on the roof:D

  • I was just waiting for one to take out his car window lol. Looks like fun :D

  • what you should do (me and my friend did this)

test how much weight it can lift and measure it out so it stays in mid air floating till the pressure's gone.

when i did it, a 2 liter coke bottle, fully filled with 2 cups of water and the rest with air, could lift about 2 pounds to stay at the same height.

P.S. when you do smaller weights the bottle rises straight up with no curves if you hold it right.

  • You should make a body for it to guide the flight path. It would go so far.

  • beast

  • we have a compressor with the attachment to do this..now i wanna try it! LOL

  • Neat, but you really should devise a way to put rifling on it so it will stay upright. And so you don't have to hold them.

  • A Water RPG. Lol. I want one in a watergun fight.

  • super cool

  • we did something like this in my jr high school we made a stand so we wouldn't have to hold them and throw them o.0

  • Nice thing, but it's very dangerous .....be careful with that....I tried when I was child and I stayed in the hospital 2 weeks....just for a bottle....

  • it would be funny if one of them hit him in the face

  • Ahh see what you need to know is how to make the Trailer Trash version of this.

You take a normal garden hose that has been cut. You know like the one you use to siphon gas.

and any plastic bottle. A normal garden hose is almost the exact size of the opening of a soda pop bottle.

Stick the hose in the bottle Turn the water on full and use your hand to create a good seal at where the bottle meets the hose.

    Let go and have fun

  • I've seen one, Japanese made it has fins and looks like a real rocket and damn it flies really high............

  • nice #

  • You need some FINS on it-!

  • i like ur golf in the background

  • Matthias, you are a cool cat. Your videos are great; your inventions are genius. Long may you rock!!!

  • O: Oh my...

    M: My word!

    G: Got blown away :O

  • Duct tape a yard stick to the side for stability.

  • Awesommmmee!

  • "Rocket Science from a Wood Scientist." LOL

Did the second bottle went just up the yellow car?

  • Lmao literally a "Bottle Rocket".

  • how would a nose cone sort out that flight path?

  • not much.

fins do pretty much all of the directional work in a rocket.

nose cones are just to help with reducing drag, it'll still flip out without fins.

  • definately an effective way to water your lawn XD

  • lol put wings on it

  • I have a serious question, and heaven help me for asking it on youtube, but what is the fuel of this rocket?

By definition, fuel is something that is consumed to produce energy.

So does that make it the compressed air or the water being ejected out of the bottom of the rocket?

My guess is the compressed air is the fuel and the water being blown out is the exhaust. But i honestly don't know if that is right. Anyone care to take a stab at it?

  • It don't think compressed air counts as a fuel, as it doesn't store chemical energy. Fuel normally means something which is burned to release stored chemical energy.

  • there is no fuel. nothing is consumed in this. this is a physical change, not a chemical. that way, it's just pressure that causes the chang

  • I know i just wish it could sustain its pressure longer i mean think about planes that just run on air and have really efficient wings.

  • Its because of the wings and the bottle doesn't have enough water to keep on flying

  • I suppose that means that calling this a water bottle rocket is a bit of a misnomer then.

I was looking into the definition of rocket and there needs to be some form of combustion for a rocket to be.

So N.A.S.A. rockets: OK. Military rockets: OK. Bottle rocket fireworks: OK. Water bottle rockets: totally not really rockets!

  • yeah, really, it's just a projectile, not a rocket.

  • You are such a hard-ass

  • You need a tail on it, to fly straight. :P

  • 3rd and 4th were cool

  • That looks like a hoot. Fins would help it go straight, but maybe that wouldn't be as exciting.

  • holy sh!t! the last one looked like it dissapeared in the sky!

  • you have a lovely home

  • Even his house is made of wood!

  • @lollypopdude

i bet you he built it

  • you can buy cosmic rocket its got a stand and etherything

  • That was dangerous

    BUT AWESOME

  • Fly water bottle, be free!

  • It kept getting higher and higher O-o

  • I assume there's a hole cut in the bottle cap to insert the nozzle? We stuck a bicycle pump needle into a cork and jammed the cork into the bottle, when we released it the cork would come off the bottle instead.... it always went straight up, which may or may not be desirable depending on your mood!

  • watch the end...

  • awesome do it next time with a bigger bottle

  • looks crazy! sweet

  • lol, nice xD

  • I would do this all day xD

  • yay!

  • Great but you need to make it more stable, i'e seen one mad for am office water cooler bottle with 3 fins attached and it went v far and in a straight line.

  • nice!

  • thats crazy! XD
