if you come at the right time to YSSY on a saturday morning (thats when i see it, dunno about other times) you can have a qantas, SQ, and emirates A380 all parked at airport at same time. sadly they arent lined up together so no good photo opp... nice to see though!
Amazing video A380 King of the skies now we have lost the queen (Concorde) great footage I need to get a good spot like that to film from. I am always worried about stopping near the air port to much security. Can you let me know where it is ok to film from? thanks.
@Deltapilot96 Wikipedia does list 12 A380's for BA. If you look at the fleet table you can see the orders recorded. They also have several options too.
I'm surprised that Airbus made something like the A380. Until now, their planes looked graceful... particularly the A330, I guess that trend is done. :(
Never said I like the 747. I think that hump is hilariously ugly.. in fact I hate almost all double-deck planes. The 777-200LR is the best looking plane in my opinion.
@whitireia I don't agree, seriously, call it a gut instinct but from the 1st time i saw the A380 I've just felt there's something not right with that plane. Give me the trusty old 747 anytime!!
*Since the first aeroplane invention by Wright Brothers, human has fly for about 100 years already. In you opinion, what does aviation mean to us, to our society and to the world?
avaiation gives us the freedom to cross continents and expierence other civilisations. it is really amazing tat a 560 ton aircraft can lift off from a long strip of tar with ease. Avaiation takes us somewere WE WERE NEVER MEANT TO BE! The world is addicted to avaiation!!
Currently until about July 2009 (owing to a delay in QANTAS getting their 4th) you can see this up to three times a week on Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday. The Singapore Airlines A380 departs at around 11.50am. The QANTAS one departs at around 12:15pm and the Emirates A380 arrives at around 12:20pm. If you're really lucky the Singapore one will be slightly delayed meaning both the QANTAS and SIA A380 are on the tarmac at the same time as the Emirates arrives.
This was filmed outside the Renaissance Hotel on the northern perimeter road because runway 27R was the departing runway that day. The runway varies each week and you can find out which runway will be in use via the Heathrow Airport website.
From June/July 2009 (June was the month QANTAS intended to place their 4th A380 into service) they will be increasing frequency Mon-Fri at least so you can see it up to 5 times per week.
You should check out my new HD channel "mcpcshowcaseHD" you'll get and even better view of the A380's at Heathrow but in separate videos so far. I intend to visit Heathrow again very soon.
im fliying with singapore in may and with the a380 and wont be very happy if im waiting over 12 hours for a rescue flight. gotta feel sorry for the passengers its my first time on one and i know how let down they would be.
I'm thinking the issue with the QANTAS A380's is relatively minor. It never even made the news over here in the UK despite one being grounded at Heathrow. I'm sure your flight will go ahead without a hitch - have fun onboard!
The airline's flagship, the Nancy-Bird Walton, was delayed in Sydney for 19 hours on Saturday, before eventually being cleared to fly to London.
However, on arrival at Heathrow airport it was again found to be leaking fuel and experienced a nose wheel ground steering issue, being declared unserviceable.
Qantas was forced to declare one of the aircraft "unserviceable" last night, after scores of passengers had waited more than 12 hours for a fuel leak to be repaired.
All three of Qantas's much-hyped A380 aircraft have been grounded over the past four days due to recurring problems with the plane's fuel tank systems.
It's a shame this incident happened but QANTAS have done the right thing and grounded the planes until they know their passengers, crew, staff and airplane will be safe when in operation.
From what I have read about this issue it is nothing major and understand that 2 of them are back in service with the 3rd going back into service on 4 March.
It's still a brand new plane and teething problems are bound to happen - as long as these problems aren't ignored everything should work out.
This video was taken outside the Renaissance Hotel off the North Perimeter Road.
The Singapore Airlines A380 is taking off on 27R in a westerly direction. The Emirates A380 is landing on 27L.
You can see the QANTAS A380 taking off on Runway 27R in a separate video on my channel. In this video you can see the QANTAS A380 banking towards a south easterly direction.
This vantage point is close to the official viewing area for the airport.
They do but I wouldn't recommend it - particularly in summer. It's outside the Heathrow Academy which again is off the North Perimeter Road about 5 minutes walk east from where this video was taken. It's behind a car park and several trees though. The hotel is the better place to stand in front of.
I have a sort of love hate opinion on Heathrow. While I love the fact that there are many aircraft movements throughout the day and a wide range of airlines and aircraft operating from the airport, I hate the relatively inaccessible nature of it for someone like me who wants to film there.
Heathrow has no 'decent' official viewing area. The one they do have is behind a main road, a car park and dozens of trees.
I have managed to establish some really good viewing spots now though.
Ok, lol, thanks for the reply, i think that Heathrow is Amazing and Im sure theres One street you can go too view planes, the planes descending towards the runway looks impressive!
Emirates Airlines is the first airline to fly the Airbus a 380 on the transatlantic route from Dubai to New York (JFK) in august 2008 after that it will be Air France than Lufthansa, British Airways, Virgin Atlantic, Qatar Airways or maybe Etihad Airways will fly the Airbus a 380 on transatlantic route.
I never noticed this the first time I watched it but between 1:38 and 1:42 you can make out the huge QANTAS A380 tail in front of the Virgin Atlantic Hanger. It's massive!
If you live near Sydney you'll be able to see three yourself shortly. Singapore Airlines and QANTAS already fly from Sydney and Emirates starts service there in February 2009.
No worries. Yeah im in melbourne, we get the LA bound Qantas but the Singapore A380 very rarely comes in here. I think only if it can't land in Sydney it ventures out here. Emirates would be great to see love that livery.
I managed to get an impressive shot of the Emirates A380 landing at London Heathrow for the very first time. Check it out on my channel. Was so close to it it's unbelievable.
Im from Melbourne too and by the end of 2009 the Qantas MEL-LAX A380 service will become daily and MEL-SIN-LHR will be 4-times-weekly. Emirates will launch DXB-MEL-AKL service late 2009/ early 2010. SIA will launch daily SIN-MEL A380 service in 2009..
Well i'm British and love the Kangaroo too. I have a longer video of the QANTAS A380 at Heathrow as well as some videos featuring the QANTAS 747 you should check them out. Thanks for the comment.
The second plane is Emirates. BA do not currently operate the Airbus A380 taking first delivery around 2012. Only Singapore Airlines, Emirates and QANTAS have A380's in service at time of this comment.
could an airline also order a a380 with 5enginges(last on in the tail). to give a bit more power, so it need less runway?

Dear All,
I have some questions about psychology on aviation:
*Why do we love flying?
*Why do we relate flying with our full potentials and with our successes?
*Why do we use the phases "take off" and "fly high" as a kind of adjectives to describe our success of our hard working?
*Why do we used the word "runway" as a expression of optimistic future of a person/ a team?
*Why do we relate aviation with freedom?
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE for your creative ideas and brainstorm!!!
