It's interesting that this film is from 1985 but the gunbarrel footage was filmed back in 1977 for Spy who loved me, (then re-used for all subsequent Moore films).
He was supposedly the same character we had seen in Dr.No 23 years earlier so it made sense.
At this time James Bond wasn't yet "immortal". He only became immortal with Pierce Brosnan, in which he somehow was a "Cold War relic" despite looking as if he was spawned in the 90's.
@McLarenMercedes Roger Moore's Bond was immortal. If you're suggesting that the Moore era Bond showed any signs of realism all I have to do is point you to Moonraker and the concept of Bond in Space.
Pierce Brosnan was 41 when he played Bond, hardly a 'spawned in the 90s'. His Bond was hip to the times however. And he wasn't invulnerable, not physically, certainly not emotionally, even though by then the movies had bastardised Bond conventions so much that he never really suffered heartbreak.
A b&w gunbarrel in 1985?? How Ironic. But then again, Roger was getting was too old for Bond which is obviously symbolic saying that Moore is old news and time for a new Bond.
@TonyShow82 he only made 1 more flim because sean connery brought out never say never again just after occtupussy was realised even thought never say never again is not classes as a james bond flim he still made it (sean connery) i think
this sound and the octopussy sound seems to be hard to create - though the instrumentations is correct the sound is something one has to be lucky to get :(

@ChristopherMe1975 Interesting. I've always wondered why this gun barrel looked "washed out".
