Hello -- not sure why my earlier post vanished but to answer your question, McCoig (or MacCoig) is a listed sept of Clan Mackay. If you go to the Clan Mackay Society USA website & look up their septs, you'll find MacCoig listed there. Good luck!
Interesting. One thing to remember about Scottish and Irish clans is one they where not all clans some where septs of clans and two very importantly lots of names where misspelled when finally written down due to the names being Gaelic and the records being Scots or English. EG. McCoy and MacKie came from the same origin but accents effected their spelling.
Hi Dan. I am glad to tell you that you actually do have a connection to Clan MacLeod. The name McCoig is a spelling variation of McCaig. Your family belonged to Clan McLeod of Harris and Skye. If you contact the clan McLeod im shure they would add you to there ranks. : ) Cheers!
BWofC these ridiculous and tedious clan connections from obscure scottish last names and variations of them are ridiculous can you please stop talking bullshit about my country.
"If you contact the clan McLeod"
There is no such thing anymore, the last time I checked the clan mcleod along with the entire clan system died over two centuries ago.
do you really mean the "clan" MCleod culb for americans with scottish surnames. ?
Their are still Clans and Chiefs but it is more out of ceremonial benefit and most aren't even in Scotland. That's not always to say you are directly part of a Clan Due to your last name but your ancestors where part of one at some point maybe even taking on the last name for safety. I don't know why people get upset at Americans seeking out their roots at least they take an interest in our culture and separate us from the rest of the UK.
Thanks BWolc, we always get a spirited debatre and conversation over anything to do with the UK. Check out the comments on our Castle video Oh My.. Ha, but thank you for your kind remarks
There was a boy named Charlie and he was a smart man. He was killed by an assassain on April 12th, 1975 at the age of 14. If you read this, then tonight while you are sleeping, he will come to your house and go in your heart and stop it from beating, then you know what happens after that. This is was happened to a voice actor at the 4kids company named Maddison Blaustein. If you don't want to end up like Maddie, repost this message to 10 other videos before midnight tonight.
Ha, Yes exactly! We wanted to go to so many different places but didn't have the vacation time for all , so from Virginia, to North Carolina to Tennessee all in 5 days, it was an Appalachian whirlwind tour.
Kind of short but still cool. Audio was a bit screwy sometimes but the best part was the waterfall over the road. To bad you didn't film more of that and the museum.
Thanks Scott, The rain really put a damper on the waterfall coverage! I didn't wish to soak the only camera I own. Eek
I would have liked to have spent more time at the museum myself, but we would end up in 3 states that week and always seemed to be rushing on to the next adventure.
Hey Daniel, I dont know why I missed your comment, very sorry, I suppose thtas as disrespectful as kicking you out of a clan! ha, (I am sure you could find one if you looked. I found two, but then they both diowned me)
Very well done, Dan! Always love that I get to learn something new in an entertaining way. So sad you're a man without a clan, though... hope you find where you came from/which one you belong to soon!!
I feel so lonely without a clan! Maybe I will just start my own YouTube Scottish Clan! I'll call it the Shopping, North Carolinian, Observing, Barbecue Clan
or the S.N.O.B. Clan for short ,
Those MacFee's will rue the day they rejected my heritage Ha ha
Great little video! I think most people don't have a clan, so don't feel bad. Nice ending shot of bridal Veil falls, too. :-D
