  • i loved the adventures of superman series, grew up watching it.always thought that george was the best superman, you can't go wrong with chris either.i have the whole series on dvd and enjoy watching these episodes over and over again.they also have really cool special features.phyllis was a good lois lane but she was kind of stuck up and mean, noel neil was the best.she was so sweet and loved her and jack together.

  • If anyone's wondering, so far the deepest we've drilled is nine miles.

    Thank you Patrick Stewart.

  • always liked the original lois lane phyliss coates the best.why did she leave the show anyway do you no ?

  • @13jam100 The first season of The Adventures of Superman was filmed in 1951, but did not appear on TV until 1953 when it got Kellogg's as a sponsor. By the time they were to film more episodes, she had other offers and decided not to continue with the show. Phyllis was perfect for the darker tone of the first season.

  • "...powers beyond mortal men" but yet needs glasses?!? defender of truth?... but yet lives a lie?!? "...Justice..." is relative term anyways and "...American Way" so he has a hitman lobbyist for big business?!?

  • 4:00 The old actor playing the watchman was in It's A Wonderful Life. George Baily (James Stewart) drove his car into the old tree in front of his house and he yelled at him for it.

  • thanks for putting this on. i remember bit's and pieces of the t.v. series from my childhood. i just read up on the history of the tv series and saw this was the original movie/two part tv show. and viola, here it is.

cool. i am so hooked on youtube it's scary.

  • Does anyone know the name of the episode in which Superman went to arrest a mobster who locked himself up in a "vault" that if tampered with would cave in and kill him?

The cops asked Superman to help arrest him but Superman actually couldn't. So Superman did a "nasty trick" to get the mobster to come out on his own. That was the only way he could be arrested.

  • @vassephardi Right. I sorta recall that 1. The nasty trick was Superman went 2 the 'National Time Standards Control' or something like that & had them advance time 1 minute a day 4 a week or so. That way the guy would b exiting early on the day it was legal. Obviously back then they could control time at his request.

  • @Ferpius Right. I don't think they had atomic clocks back then. I've looked for that episode here but I don't think it's here. And there are several different guys playing Superman from back then. I thought it was only two guys but it seems maybe like 5 or so different actors played Superman.

  • @vassephardi Was that where the physics professor told superman to vibrate his body so he could walk through the solid walls?

  • @tebass1957 Yes, that's exactly the episode.

Superman would occasionally consult with that old scientist. He'd walk into his office & the scientists secretary would say "Superman, you have to take a seat because the professor is taking his afternoon nap". So Superman sat for like an hour.

Then the professor said for him to vibrate his molecules & just "walk" through the wall. Superman said "I'm used to smashing my way through things. I've never heard of what you're saying".

    Very good episode.

  • @vassephardi Season 6,episode four, The Mysterious Cube.

  • @tebass1957 Thanks.

I just tried to find it here but can't.

Do you know if it's on youtube by any chance?

  • @vassephardi Season 6,episode four, The Mysterious Cube.

  • How about that car!!!!! wow!!!

  • @hugatag ~ lol, that was a car? i thought it was a land boat!

  • I remember watching this many, many years ago.

    I thought it was cool.

    I still think so.

    Thanks for the memories.

    George Vreeland Hill

  • This was the "pilot" for the TV series, originally released theatrically in November 1951, and re-edited into the first season two-part episode, "The Unknown People".

  • I haven't seen this since I was probably eight years old back in the early '70s when a lot of daytime TV was old black & white shows.

Thank you thank you thank you for posting this!

  • How fun, superman...
