Kevin don't forget to tell people when hooking up batteries, to use the neg from one end of the bank and the postive from the other. that way all your batteries get charged and cycle all the cells. sure makes them last longer over time.
Hey I have a 12v battery and based on what I've heard 6v golf cart batteries are the way to go I only have about 100 watts of solar but can I have 2 golf cart batteries 12v and 1 12v battery until the 12v dies then have only 6v batteries
@jonathans1212 If you are using batteries for solar, AGM is the way to go. Military grade lifline are the best. you can buy them in 2v 6v or 12v and really last a long time.
Hey Viking. I dont know the answer to that question.
Your DC voltage has nothing to do with it. You may not be running large enough wire. A 1000W inverter at full load on 12V will draw 90 AMPS. If your wire is undersized it will cause your inverter to overheat.
@Viking9280 I found that my Power Jack inverter PS wave needed to have a cut off switch. I used the same that kevin has. It kills the power when hooking up the inverter. Mine litterally arched when connected the inverter to the batts. This is bad. When I started using the cut off I have now been able to use my inververter for almost a yr no issues. hope this helped.
Hi men!! I remember a couples mounts ago there was GATOR chanel who did pretty nice vid about his setup... He had a Low Voltage Disconnect before his inverter that disconnect the load (inverter) when it reach 11.1 volts and reconnect it at 12.9 volts.. He was not BIG as yours but the interesting thing about this it was hassel free. Nice setup and explanation from you men. This is a 5 STAR video.. Thanks
Thanks for watching my video, I watched yours a while ago and I said to myself what a crazy guy! :) So much going on in your shed. Yes I agree about been neat we all need that. I like your system looks quite powerful 1.2KW in solar, + the wind turbine and the 3 new panels. I want to see your grid tie inverters in action in your new video and you meter spinning backwards. I've got 2 grid tie inverters on their way, after I get them connected that will be my next video. Cheers
Thank you I made a mistake with the yellow cable it represents dc - ground is allways ground in AC or DC wiring it is always greeen or bare copper. yellow is seen in marine aplications to indacate - DC to save confusion. Perhaps I will go to one of our local yhat builders and do a video. This will put my wiring to shame. All it takes is plenty of money. Must be nice CHEERS WINDY NC
Thank you for you positive feed back. I have been doing batterie backup for about 5 years and solar for about 2. As far as cost, guessing maybe 7000 let you know come tax time. Its hard to say had so much material over the years. now that I watched my video I need to work on not saying anyway. let me know what you would like to see in future videos CHEERS WINDY NC
On a side note. You can subscribe to my channel, and get updates when I post. I just added one. Also, any more info on wiring would be great. Also where you find/buy gauges, parts and panels. SAM
how do you equalize the battery yourself?

Kev need your help again mate
i blew up my invertor 1500w at 12v by putting on 2 florecent lights
why did this happen and should i go to
24v system
i got about 1KW of solar now
should i go pure sine or should i stay with modified invertors mate

Hi Kevin
I have 35mm squared wire so that should be ok
so whats your thoughts on 12v verses 24v system
and
modified to pure sine
let me know thats ian
Viking9280 2 years ago
Hey Ian The only differance in 12 and 24 is wire size you need wire 2 times larger for 12V
24 volt components are more specialized and can cost more money.

How expensive are golf cart batteries usually?

hi it looks great should i use 6 volt or 12 volt deep cycle what would be better?
gunneddowninglory 2 years ago
I recomend 6v best bang for your buck. I ts also hard to find true 12v deep cycle batts, Check my new vid.

How long have you been working to put your system together? And about how much have you spent? Nice looking batt. bank. Later from sunny FL.
