I was honored to have been in the audience to witness what had unfolded. What most people don't know is this was the night we were informed of the death of the first female killed in combat. RIP Nicolette. It was an emotional night
everytime i hear this song i shed a tear, it's a very touching song, thank you to Julian Austin for this song, and thank you to every soldier past, present, and future. - from oakville, ontario ~ lest we forget
Tomorows remembrance day. And i would like to remind u for tomorow,to take 1 minute out of 24hrs to stand in silence to remember thouse who fought for us to giv us the freedom we hav today. ~ lest we forget
I must say thank you for really putting yourself out there and giving us a gift that should be the national anthem of Canada. And many thanks for making it a song of peace and maybe some understanding of life itself and how precious it is.
THANK YOU JULIAN for remembering our veterans and those brave souls that are still putting their lives at risk so we can live free. As Remembrance Day approaches i still hear my grandfather telling us the reason he fought over seas was very simple, FREEDOM DOES NOT COME FREE. BLESS OUR VETERANS PAST, PRESENT, AND FUTURE.
what a lovely song. my grandpa taught me to pray for the heros who give there lives for us every night cause he had his bestfriends go down in the war and even tho hes gone we still pray for the ones keeping us safe
I Love this song, and the video helps me during this deployment 2011/2012,as that little soldier girl you see several times in the white T is our daughter, she was there in 2006,and was proud to deploy this july/2011.Her young son and I watch this everytime we're missing mommy,we know it was 2006,but it's still helps to keep her close,Thank you Julian for this beautiful song and a glimpse of our soldier when we need it.Damn Proud Military Mom
You may not have supported the war or anything but at least support the men and women who have fought and have been through hell, fire, and brimstone for their country. I salute them and I thank them for what they have done and continue doing. God Bless the red and white.
who are the 6 people that disliked this video people dying for Freedom and we should all SUPPORT OUR TROOPS!! Dont have to Support the war but damm right the SOLDIERS!! GOD BLESS!! SUPPORT OUR TROOPS!!!
I was in the reserve but i never went in mission like you guys,i know you will say i'm not a part of you guys but i have great respect for all of you and i support my troups...i'm proud to be CANADIAN with you !......tanks
This is totally my story, my father did just this 4 years ago ( actually, 4 years ago as of last saturday) so it totally pulls my heart strings just listening to it.
Julian Austin will perform for the nation's veterans and troops for on Friday, July 8th from 6pm to 8pm at the Gale Centre in Niagara Falls to kick-off Canadian Veterans National Rendezvous.
im so very proud to be a CANADIAN thank you to all those who have served , are serving and especially to those who gave their lives so the rest of us could enjoy the freedoms we have today.
this song brings tears to my eyes every time i hear it especially touching when Julian chokes up. please dont ever forget to honor our vets and always support those who serve so that we as Canadians get to enjoy the freedom to do the things we do, like watch YOUTUBE
@73828 The flag i'll say definitely doesn't have as big as a meaning as our previous ones but it makes more sense to have the flag we have now. It represents my people and it shows how the flag is unique, just like our nation.
WE OWE THEM OUR LIFES AND PEOPLE SHOULD SUPPORT THEM MORE AND THENK THEM FOR WHAT THE DO FOR US AND OUR COUNTRY! HOW HARD IS IT TO SAY THANKS! GOD BLESS! SUPPORT OUR TROOP!
When i hear this song it makes me wanna fight for my country , Respect all of our canadians soldiers who have fallen ove rthe past few years , god bless you for giving us the freedom we have now.
Thank you, you make me proud to be Canadian. God bless. And as for those of you who say negative things, you need to say thank you as well. Soldiers then and now, gave you the freedom to speak your mind and not be shot for doing so!!
i was on board the hmcs margaree in the first gulf war! i was there when corry well and billy hines were killed and i appreciate this song. we were never recongniseed for what we did. we put our lives on the line everyday for our country. just remember them!
What a phenominal song; I heard it live 3 years ago, finally time someone gives a Canadian tribute to our soldiers. I had an Uncle who came back in body from WWII but was never the same. The one thing I will ever remember him saying though is he saw when the Germans heard the bag pipes, they were scared shitless as they knew it was either the Scottish or CANADIANS and they knew they were in for one FUCK of a fight.
this song immediately popped in my head when i heard that a solider from here in Corner Brook, NL had fallen in combat. very powerful song to say the least; this song truly is a hidden treasure. we should be grateful and extremely thankful that we have brave men and women to stand up for our freedom. To all our Soliders- Past, Present and Future, THANK YOU!
fuck.. that video makes me so.. woow. amazing, ahah its just amazing, the song is amazing woow, damn, FUCK, i know im just a reservist but FUCK FUCK FUCK, who cant be proud after earing that song,
You hold in your hand the most precious of gifts Freedom to love, and express art Freedom to be who you want to be. With it comes responsibilities & consequences The price of freedom is eternal vigilance Don't make our sacrifice one in vain I join god knowing I fought for my fellow man"s freedom My duty complete, yours to carry on in memory For now my mother is crying & criticism of our mission arises Question not but always remember. I am a Canadian Soldier
@protectoroffaith I will head back to Afghanistan, after 9 months the Americans were using us to APOLOGIZE for their Negligent Discharges that were killing family's and children. Seriously a school bus? Why the fuck did the Americans EOF a school bus?
the Veteran who told us this story cried and he said ''Why, Why did no one come We fought so hard to come back home.. . we fought and died.. . Why did no one come, we were brave soldiers.. the Canadians were brave soldiers''
and watching that Veteran cry made me sick to my stomach that some people especially the ones who play Call of Duty and don't know what real war is! takes everything for granted, and even dares to make fun of out serving men and woman and say Canada has a shit army!
I remember a story from the Korean War (Forgotten War) where American and Canadian soldiers were coming back home, and they stopped in the USA to drop them off first, and the Canadians were asked to join there ceremony and people celebrated the heroes who came home
what happened when they finally came to Canada? they were put in a football field with a big sign saying welcome home.. and no one showed up to welcome our troops. .. they just stood there in the rain and the silence. thinking why-
@RazorCell7 hello:)) I just wanted , after reading your last 2 comments here on this channel , to tell you , That , you can be proud !!! Not once , were Canadain, Soldiers , no matter what Theatre or years we have served in , have ever been forgotten .. I am so sorry , if you were told something different ~~ Our Fellow Canadians have never let ,their own down !!! Not then & certainly for so many of us , not now !!!
it saddens me when people would rather know what paris hilton is doing then the names of a latest casualties it saddens me to know that tiger woods made the front page news rather then Cpl. so and so who saved his best friend in combat
what do we get? A pat on the back, people can say thanks for everything waving the Canadian flag and putting on a fake smile which they will forget everything in the next 12 minutes, so at schools kids can talk and laugh in the moment of silence of remembrance
I remember being a kid. We use to have Rememberance Day ceremonies and such in school. None of that goes on or on a down sized scale. My grand father was a WWII vet and my cousin was in Afghanistan. I will always support our men and women in the military. If it wasn`t for the young men ine WWI and WWII we would be speaking German. I support the Red and White. And I support the Red, White and Blue also.
Thank you, once again, Julian, for what you sing and what you do. I am very proud to be retired military for this great country. I want to thank you again for everything you do for our men and women in uniform. Take care and come see us again soon, Julian!
Julian, hope all is good with you! I have to thank you again for this. You are a TRUE PATRIOT and I am so overwhelmed with what you do for our soldiers! Thank you my friend! All my best, forever and always!
This is such a great song and I wish every Canadian could hear it. I have a cousin on his way over in a few weeks to defend this country. Whether you belive in the war or not, stand behind our men and women in arms. If you don't stand behind them now someday you may have to stand in front of them, in peace or war. God Bless our forces and all the freedom fighters across the globe
i remember when cpl Crooks died over seas he was from my town and i knew his bro personally they are all a great family and whe his casket was coming back into port Colborne most of are city lined the streets to pay him respect we also hung yellow ribbions all over the city to show respect for him and every other fallen soldier
My dad was in the military and thankfully retired when i was young so now i feel super blessed to have him here and it makes me cry everytime i hear anything abot the military because i realize that it could be my dad and PLEASE remember to thank a soldier because we have no idea what the soldiers go through we cant even begin to think. any canadian should be proud to hear this song because it desribes the military perfectly so please thank a soldier and just remember LEST WE FORGET!!!!
This song makes me proud to be the wife of a soldier. Thank you for this song, it breaks my heart and makes me cry but in a good way. I am so proud of my husband and all our friends (known brothers and sisters and also the unknown ones to us personally) Thank you, Thank you for doing what you do.
To the units that just left, Stay safe
To those coming home, we will see you soon
To those still serving, stay safe and remember you are loved and we appreciate what you do.
This song makes me cry every time! I drove into work one day and this was loud out of the truck, and four people went and bought the CD!!! I hope you like the hat! Can't wait to see you again! Doris, Sheila and I loved seeing you in Napanee! Hugs and Kisses, Julian!
i was there when this concert happened on the boardwalk in KAF, it was the most powerful and moving performance i have ever seen, and i had the opportunity to talk with him after, and let me just say we need more people like him, that song was amazing, and he is an amazing person for going to afghanistan to perform for us, it was a taste of home when i think alot of us needed it, thanks Julian
I'm very proud to be Canadian, grandson of two Canadian WWII paratroopers. I will be joining the military and will become a paratrooper just like my grandfathers, God bless Canada.
What a wonderful tribute to Canadian troops past and present. God bless and protect the soldiers and comfort their families as they wait for a safe return.
i'm not what you'd call a country music fan. but this one made me cry (tears of gratitude). i am Canadian. every Nov. 11 i go to Remembrance Day ceremonies for my Grandfather. he was in WWII in the RCR Black Watch. he was a survivor among those that were the first on the beach of Normandy. Thank You Grandpa. and Thank You to all that are currently serving. the porch light is on, and the key is under the mat. come home when you can..
i haven't learned much of my grandfather's old regiment. i know that when he was home, he was stationed at the base in Newfoundland. (a lot of the Black Watch from the Maritimes were back then) i would love to see a copy of their War Diary. is it online? it would give me something more to think about on Nov. 11. i wonder.....did your father join the Legion after his discharge as my grandfather did? i'm guessing "yes".
He played this at our local red friday, and not a single eye was dry. My friends father fought over in Iraq or Afaghanistan when my friend was seven years old. He stayed up every night fearing for his fathers life. His father is now home safe and sound , but still works for the army , but will not be departed. My great Grandfather, fought in ww2 , i never got to meet him.
Im absolutely proud to say that i am canadian, and wouldnt leave if my life depended on it !
that a girl!!!!!! workin in bermuda ...i wear a canadian flag sticker on my helmet here ... adn every time i see our flag at the airport here i have to smile ... i miss home . have an XL tripple tripple from Timmy's for me pls...
I just came back from a 2 week vacation in Florida. I was never so happy to see our beautifull flag flying high overhead at the boarder! I too break into a smile when I see our flag abroad....
I don't drink coffee, but I'll have a doughnut from Timmy's for you!
@Gameplayery stand proud , canucks ripped some shit up on D-Day and earned us alot of pride . give them hell son and don't ask for anything in return . our god will do the rest
this song keeps me goin and makes me want to join the canadian forces more and more each day, im only 17 and im planning on joining them in july to possibly train to become an infantry soldier
its a very ogood choice im on my BMQ rite now, but its a start, im also trainig to become and infantry soldier...brockville rifles...but join, its the best choice anyperson can make, make the rite choice, and good luck
This is a very moving song that helps us to remember the people who died for the sake of our country. I had a Grandfather in WW2 and a friend planning to head to Afghanistan soon.
Great song. My country will never forget what Canada did for us in WW2. Mutch respect to all my brothers from countries all over the world still serving out there, in afghanistan or wherever.
my dad was there when this happened before the show they came in and asked if there were n e docters to report to the ER bc of the two that died god bless all that r over there now and are back my daad has to go back again its gd too c people actualy care about our mission
at the very end of the video, someone hollers out "thank you julian!" and he yells back "no, thank you!" i say the same thing. Thank you to all our heroes who are serving, or have served. It means the world to me. thank you all. we love you
i'm going for the CF and even though its fucking scary, i want to serve over there to, I also play guitar and will also write a song, amazing song amigo, respect
Do you know that Nov 10 is The Marine Corps Birthday? It is an on honor that your son enlisyted on that day!! I salute yourt Family, I salute you!! Jacky
you know, I watched this video about 10 times,I am a former USMArine. THIS VIDEO IS VERY POWERFUL. Canadieans and Americans are very similair? Yes I think so, Thank you all you neighbors of the North, you are the best !!you are the best!!!!
Thanks! As a former Canadian Soldier (whose son joined the Army on Nov 10, 08) I get pissed off at the trash talk between our two countries posted on youtube (particularly related to military matters). You have walked the walk, not just talked the talk and therefore your opinion is valued. Thanks again.
thank you... as brothers in arms we know what it is to fight for freedom... thank you to the americans who fight for us... god bless or brave sons and daughters
@Jacky1864 And we appreciate all that our brothers and sisters to the south have given in the name of peace and freedom when fighting side by side with us or for their own. We suffer along with you as well, you are never alone or forgotten!
OMG I just saw him in concert last night and he signed my head and book and he also gave me a play sword but it was on the stage and he held it up and then gave it to me :P and he touched my hand like 5 or 4 times :] and I met him in peron and he signed the sword :]
I love him sooooo Much and he is so cute and he is so nice and he has a niice big heart :)
This is an awesome song everytime i hear it I start to cry...Listen to the last minutes of the song and he started to cry then I started crying more, it's okay Julian we all feel the same way you do...I love you...!!!!
what a great song and a great guy! Julian, keep it up! So cool, just as I heard this song, a song by Christian Recording artist, Mark Schultz, called "Letters From War" came on the radio. very fitting and the timing was perfect, between songs!
God bless you Julian! Hope to see you again soon...10 years has been waaaaay too long!
Nice song, my grandad volunteered and served in the CF in ww2 fought in north africa Italy and europe, and the bravery of the soldiers from ww1 ww2 korea and Afghanistan is without reproach. This war in afghanistan is not ww2 this is a war of lies and deseption and our soldiers are victims just like the afghan people are too, we need to bring the soldiers home now! Karzai is corrupt and the mission is unwinnable, nothing glorious about it its a waste, support the troops BRING THEM HOME
....Come off it, war of lies and deception....Stop getting Afghanistan and Iraq mixed up!
Back when your Grandpa was in it wasn't the "CF" it wasn't unified until LONG after, and WWII we fought against a lunatic......Now again we're fighting many nuts....I don't care how fucked up the mission is if it brings hope and helps the Afghan people....
Let it be, my cousin died over there I plan on joining up and hopefully going over all of our troops believe in their mission they know in the end.
aww man you can hear him choaking up in the end this song makes tears come to my eyes every time i hear it, it's true this country doesn't care enough about our soldiers in war if you can't support the war atleast support our troops! FOR THE RED AND WHITE!
No half assing it support them all the way or not at all...Most of the soldiers get pissed when they hear "I don't support the war but I support the troops"....If you don't support their mission and what they do.....Then you can't really support them.
Some guys I used to play hockey are over there... I pray they come home. Im planning on joining now, because I have a son, and i dont want to see him go through any of this
Support our troop men and women, so that other can live in peace. Great song and thanks for caring. Our nation forget's why we go to help other sometime.
A few good friends of mine almost died over there so don't you ever say that they are just there smoking pot and drinking all the time like in Germany, I don't give a shit what they did then. They are there trying to prevent the terrorists from taking over the world, and unfortunatly we have to protect assholes like you. Now how about you come over here to Canada and talk to some Afghan war vets, say 1 bad thing to their faces and see how long your standing.
I was honored to have been in the audience to witness what had unfolded. What most people don't know is this was the night we were informed of the death of the first female killed in combat. RIP Nicolette. It was an emotional night

Canadian People sometimes get annoyed when people from foreign lands ask if we are American.
I don't get bothered by it. I just say no I am a Canadian Soldier, My brothers are the American Soldiers but people confuse us all the time.
We are the closest and most friendly countries in the world and I do call my American Soldiers down south my brothers in arms.
You have been there for us and we will be there for you. Soldiers understand each other.

i'm not what you'd call a country music fan. but this one made me cry (tears of gratitude). i am Canadian.

My Father was an NCO in the Black Watch RHR Camerons of Ottawa in WW2.
If ever you are interested, I have the War Diary of the Black Watch from the moment they landed to the end of the war.

i haven't learned much of my grandfather's old regiment. i know that when he was home, he was stationed at the base in Newfoundland.

Karzai is corrupt and the mission is unwinnable, nothing glorious about it its a waste, support the troops BRING THEM HOME
andyst6 3 years ago
....Come off it, war of lies and deception....Stop getting Afghanistan and Iraq mixed up!

No half assing it support them all the way or not at all...Most of the soldiers get pissed when they hear "I don't support the war but I support the troops"....If you don't support their mission and what they do.....Then you can't really support them.
