  • Its Fucking easy to use and it aint strange that it takes a couple seconds to load a sound, there are tons and tons of sounds on that disk!!

  • donload link please

  • they could have made it easier to navigate with D-pad making u flick through options and the analog nub going freely, like in the psp browser

  • Downloading :P

  • I'm downloading it now.

  • @matthiaslsw same lol

  • downloading this game's cso haha

  • one of the best music creator games!!!!

  • don't take this for an answer. Reason one: less easy = more control reason 2: more practice means it gets easier

Reason 3: more features than lots of expensive software of the same genre

    Reason 4: cheap, Now 20$

Reason 5: Updated (loading isn't nearly as long)

Reason 6: Accessible, not enough programs like this

Reason 7: Loops, lots of Loops. most loops I've ever seen in a single software.

Reason8:This isn't cheap. you can make top notch songs, from something that fits into your pocket.

  • You can't spell IGNorant without IGN! Beaterator is awesome, douche.

  • lol get Fl Studio

  • Rockstar Games are amzing all rockstar games is cool and awesome

  • there are better reviews than this one out there. looks like this guy fails to see that beaterator is optimised for a handheld platform, not desktop.

  • I know I'm pretty much spamming this shit right now, but I have a whole channel dedicated to beaterator and I barely get any views. Please just check out a few of my songs?

  • you guys have to quit complaining, he has good points, not the best interface therefore not the best score, makes sense to me

  • hi ppl I made a beat with beaterator watch?v=KzlbkovFvlA , plz watch it... ty btw!!:D

  • the problem is they had a dumb ass GAMER review this. Should have been somebody who does music production. Would have had a better review.

  • man there was a mixtape done with beaterator, and it is SICK! I think it was called ATL RMX..... has gucci mane, and lil jon, and ppl like that, and the beats are kick ass, and none of the beats contain any pre made loops, these dudes did it all from scratch, just like real production is done. It's from Adult Swim.. This beaterator is serious, u can do real music production with this thing!

  • Comment removed

  • yeah its really good for on the go and for not having a mouse, actual studio equipment, or some crazy amount of desktop goodness, its pretty damn good.

  • i think its really amazing i love the fact that u can save your songs as a midi file and used it on your much better pc software such as fruity loops and stuff

  • A music producer named DJ Shiva (I thinks thats his name?) has made an album which you can download, using this programme. He records his vocals and instruments and makes drum loops all through Beaterator. It just shows the potential of it.

  • How does the iPhone version compare to this?

  • @EDIBLEFRIDGE the iphone version is a scaled down lite version of beaterator. The full version is on the PSP. That is where u can do all the in depth music production tools this program comes with.

  • Beaterator is easy to use once you get use to it...I got useto it and make my own beats with it. Check out my beat. Only have one up but produced over 10 beats with Beaterator and getting better each time. It does take a lot of time to make a beat. It takes about 1 to 2 days for me to make a beat but is worth the time at the end:)

  • This review is so one sided. Of course its gonna take time to make a good track. .nothins easy. .u need patient in the music industry. .I know nothin bout producin' tracks but I'm just a singer and I have good ears when it comes to music. . I got this game the other day. .and I already made a track from scratch. .my own melodies and everything. It really depends on the person. .It was confusing at first. .but only took a few days and now I know how to work the whole thing.

  • This game sucks. If you have no work, partner or dog then it's usefull, because it cost a lot of time.

  • @majin27 i don't think this game was made for you to sit at home 24/7 and play.. there's a meaning behind the name "Playstation Portable" .. i often sit on the train, or in the bus or even on the airplane on my way to vacation and make beats .. if you really wanna be somebody in the music industry, i guess you you have alot of programs on your computer at home, and some instruments and not just this game ;) . just saying!

  • wow this is crazy, im using PSP Rhythm at the moment on custom firmware 5.00m33 it seems pretty similar to this but this is on a UMD.. :-( so im forced to buy it and also the UMD speeds are quite bad compared to loading an EBOOT file off the mem stick :-( so im not sure if i will actually go ahead and buy this! seems pretty good though worth looking into :)

  • IGNornat

  • i think justin bieber made this review....

  • This is a good and easy to use program, better than PSP RHYTHM

  • fuck this reviewer

i dont have this game but it looks awesome

hey but do u guys knw if u can edit saved songs on the psp?

  • he must not be a "music guy" if you know how to use the software you can make and produce high-quality music however it is not for those who are not familiar with music production software

  • Unfortunately, the reviewer was looking for ease of use; equally unfortunate, he didn't have a point of reference by which to claim *how* easy it ought to be *if* a music production studio were to occur on the psp. Why? Because there is no frame of reference (except Timbaland's own logic) for his point of view. When compared to computer midi software, combined with the set of controls available on the psp, rockstar did a remarkable job regarding navigation and creation.

  • It a studio dumfuck you can't just think of a song in 1 second and think you got it , it takes time and learning Everyone come check out my metal I made on beaterator it;s metal...... 3 songs Megalith, mobile fortress, Black comet

  • OK wait... This isn't a review at all. This is one guy saying how a small music production program doesn't work on a PSP. I beg to differ. Considering the limited resources the PSP has, this is probably as far as you can push it in regards to creating anything. It's a lot better than PC studio programs were 5 years ago as many might remember. Creating music is difficult, that's why they added the live DJ part, to at least give you something to do if it gets hard.

  • If you know anything about music, unless your very gifted, music isn't suppose to be easy, if it was everyone would do it, the fact that they made it more like a studio and not a game is the reason i like it, cause you can use your creative mind and not sound like everyone else, again my thoughts

  • omfg they do forget 1 thing,ITS JUST ONLY A FUCKING GAME O_O

    FUCK IGN's BEATERATORS REVIEW

    thumbs up if you agree

  • c

    fhrth

  • damn... just when I thought I didn't need a psp...

  • I totally love this game. I got it for 5 bucks at the store! It was priced down! Totally worth it and I already made 3 awesome beats!! :D

  • is just another traxxpad ??

  • 8.0 for a fuck*** music studio on the goddamn PSP!!!

what the fuck do you want???

    a 9.5 for easy handling???

  • tis is great im getting it!

  • I much prefer the song crafter/studio over live play. It's so much more deep, and it's easy with a bit of experimentation.

  • TRAXXPAD IS THE WAY 2 GO

  • yo i have a tutorial video where I show how to import your own sounds into beaterator. Just go to my channel. Peace!

  • can u use songs from the psp itslef?

  • wow this guy is a dumbass, I can get a beat started in right away, and I compose EVERYTHING myself, I don't use ANY premade loops. I bet FL Studio would be too much for the reviewer! I can have a beat completely tracked out, with effects, and mixed down in 1 hour tops! And I will use all 8 tracks! If U are a music producer, it is very easy to make beats with this, as u will notice how it strongly resembles many PC digital audio workstations.

  • @RapidTraxx hey man if u make a good beat then make one for me and send send the video or mp3 or whatever to me, because i can white very impressive songs but not so good with the beats, but however there will be nothing that i can think of that i can give u so if u do this it will have to come from the kindness of ur heart and u wnt be expecting anything back lol, if u do thx alot if u dnt then i understand, i prob seem stupid askin u this but its worth the shot ^_^

  • Check check Solid Beats very Hot peace from Germany

  • FREAKIN' DOUCHE... U Can't compare PC with PSP.... And plus its hard because it's a STUDIO... Studios aren't Easy... "I've TRIED" and It only takes a little time to load the samples.... This GUY IS STUPID A|F!!!! Anybody AGREE... And PSP is the best for this, DS isn't good enough for it, and the iPod Touch version isn't that GREAT.... I think it deserves 9.5 at least 8.0 isn't fair....

  • i think that the review was pretty fair.. 8 is not enough but 9.5 is too much.

  • Then 8.5... But like i said "he doesn't review it fair enough... But that's just me... lol

  • @ant2194 Well you can't spell IGNorant without IGN so what did you expect?

  • @ant2194 your acting like 8.0 is a bad score it isnt 9.5 would mean a game is nearly perfect

  • @ant2194 i hear his point...and yours...i don't think he's knocking the idea or the game, but the developer...however, he is sort of douchy because....how else could a developer make it any easier? It's on a damn handheld....

Question, can I import the music i make on this game to my pc? say i made an entire album of music, could i potentially upload this to windows media player and burn a disc?

  • @ant2194 It's IGN bro, they try too hard to sound professional. Hell I could use this thing until I get a Toshiba or somethin'.

  • @ant2194 your right Apple and NINTENDO Fucker Are punk ass biy=tches

  • @ant2194 A 4real tho its not stupid, if u go 2 my page all my songs i made from Beaterator...

  • @ant2194 No you guys are idiots. The IGN guy is completely correct. This game is great, serves its purpose well, but doesn't go above and beyond to make the whole experience more user friendly. All he said was that this was not any sort of perfection of portable music studios, which it certainly isnt. Reviewers make reviews for core gamers. Id say an 8.0 is a very accurate score. I know some IGN reviews do bring up ridiculous points but that doesnt make every single editor at IGN bad.

  • @ant2194 if u had beaterator on psp or pc wat do u think would be better hmmm it would be alot faster on pc and as he sayed u have to click through every lil thing to get to wat u want on the psp and for a music thing it would be really tricky.. WOULDN'T IT?

  • @kevlolie can a PC fit in your pocket?

    this conversation is over.

  • @BrokeGamerJD brrrrrr android

  • @KashgroundTM not really...

  • @BrokeGamerJD brrrr that galaxy shit

  • can you save the songs you have created on the memorystick so that you can move them to your computer

  • Ya you must go 2 Download it 2 my playlist orsomting by settings then you just put it from your music 2 your comp

  • use garageband ;)

  • can you make rock songs or is it just rap?

  • you can make anything on it...i made r and b, rock, rap, hell even jazz on this thing...well worth the money

  • I have this game and yes you can also make rock songs trust me ;)

  • @WeazelBeats yep. that's how i roll : )

  • This game is INCREDIBLE. If you love beats...music...or anything of that sort..GET THIS GAME. The creativity of the beats that you can produce is beyond the limits. This is a game full of thousands of beats and sounds....which are the same beats and sounds that Timbaland uses in his studio. I love this game.....it needs to be advertised more.

  • its not a game.

  • a bit too complicated 4 me

  • It is hard first, but then so is anything.

It just takes getting used to and then its a breeze.

2-3 days (6-8 hours) practice and its simple.

  • I wanna hear the beats ign made

  • this game is awsome i got it for 60 dollars..... man its expemcive in my country

  • lol

    its £5 on amazon

  • im talking about my country

  • im clearly not

  • okei but you replyed on ME saying lol it only cost five pounds. but thats not a valuta in my country

  • ok its 20 bucks and how can you diss it for that price its jawsome

  • whats better? this or the korg on the ds?

  • this it better korg is to hard to control... pluss its better loops to be mad in beaterator

  • Korg has a interface 10x better than Beaterator. But they're both different. Beaterator is more of a game and watered down to be user friendly. The Korg DS-10 is more technical and requires a little digital recording/synthesis experience to enjoy. It's not hard to "control" like the other user stated. like I said the DS-10 has a far better interface but is also far more advanced and technical. If you want to learn synthesis and digital instrumentation get the DS-10.

  • i bought this game like 18 Euro's..!! It's not bad..just complicated.!!!!!

  • "Crank it out in minutes in Beaterator"?? Yeah and Timbaland should also come on in and shake it to your song on MTV for free, because you paid 40 bucks.

Any song made in two minutes is crap.

  • like souljah boy HAHAHAHAH

  • The "long" loading times sure are cause the UMD. ... Backuping the game into a memory stick should fix that problem

  • its actually pretty good i got it 4 $20:)

  • can you sample songs you have saved on your memory stick?

  • you can export it and play them on your music

  • i have got this game.

i bought it for 38.90 eur

  • on psn usa for 20 dollar

  • featuring timbaland... suppose you can steal sid music with the beaterator in that case... maybe hold X to sample... :/

  • can u actually save songs onto your PSP.

  • yes you can you can also play pictures and videos but you need a memory stick duo to do it however you cant listen to files bigger that 20 mb

  • sucks ableton pwns this pos.

  • word.

  • Looks like less of a game and more of a program/piece of software... :/

  • duh

  • @TheOpenlocker Thanks I didnt know that =)

  • pufixas...timbaland is black...

  • can u save these songs u create then put them on the computer?

  • ha thats what im trying to figure out too

  • yea...all you have to do is export them as wavs and it should make a beaterator folder...i do it all the time so i can master it better with audacity

  • damn, what happened to real scratches..

  • I'm so sorry about this answer. Please don't be mad, but no Timberland is not white, he's black. The correct way to phrase your question is, "Is Timberland a white guy?" That sentence was ridiculous.

  • well maybe if you used proper grammar people could understand wtf you were asking!!!!

  • @pufixas well im not sorry for kill yourself bitch.

  • yeah right.... hold you nerves.... psycho....

  • your thinking of justin timberLAKE

  • looks like a cool program (or game) but what a retarded review.

  • Comment removed

  • Ingewikkeld LOL

  • Well, it's not a game actually.

  • Nope.....

  • If IGN had upgraded to PSP Go i doubt the loading time would have been in the cons menu,

i think its safe to say it was more designed for PSP Go because i have no problems with load times at all on this game.

  • I wish someone who own this one would break down and compare it to traxxpadd and advise which is better

  • bidga garb it isnt

  • if ur not using a real keyboard like a korg m3 or logic ur really just a loop composer. FL hinders any producers from there true potential. although if heard some pretty hot loops made on FL.

  • This review is sh*@! NO music production tool is simple to use, no good one anyway. It's hard for me to complane too much about something that lets me create music on this level on just the PSP, the free online Beaterator is easy to use but in my opinion it's lacking alot more than the PSP version. Seems that all I hear now from people is how hard things are, those people wouldn't have lasted 2 seconds back in the 80s when games had no saves and no retry from your last checkpoint!

  • "complain" sorry about that! :D

  • nah coz its still the same cpu shit just bigger size in thoery it will actually take longer coz of the large size its searchingthrough but hey

  • @FlamingMonkeyInc if you have the PSP GO i assume it will run as fast as if you have a memory card Mark 2.

  • Korg DS-10 on the Nintendo DS puts this to shame:P

  • yes, the touch screen makes all the difference :(

the psp NEEDS a touch screen, maybe in 10 years it will happen :S

  • That would be nice, but I imagine if they put a touchscreen in, the price would go up drastically.

  • yeah a $50 upgrade will prolly end up being a $150 upgrade :(

  • Beaterator has some better features.

  • If you run the game on a memory stick all samples take 0.10sec - 1sec to load even is you havent herd the sameple. Im using an 8 gig memory stick duo pro mark2.

  • OK, right now im really struggling with the ease of use. its pissing me off but i just picked up the game and plan to really dive in to it. i dont think IGN realizes that this isnt a game and things like this usually take a bit to get used to. i will keep at it before i judge but right now im frusterated.

  • he says in the review that it's not a game and it is not easy to use dumbass

  • The loading times annoyed me also, however, you will notice that once the sample has been loaded once it works pretty much instantaneous next time you listen to it, even if you have listened to other samples in the mean time.

  • i agree with the2baco

  • damn shame about the loooooooong load times. What a waste

  • Looks like it add's nothing new to what "Traxxpad" did on psp years ago, infact it looks exactly the same but more childish and cartoony, if u want music creation on psp, look for "Traxxpad" should be a quarter of the price of this too.

    Peace

  • great review, i might still buy it though since i'm gonna be without some money to get a computer for a while

  • Once this game drops down to 20 bucks, i'll buy it, cause its definitely worth 20 bucks. I love making beats and having fun with music, so why not?

  • I actually disagree with the ease of use criticism in this video. It may take a day or so to get used to, but after that it's just as easy to use as, for example Garageband which I would say is very close in features to this. As long as you're used to the PSP button layout, Beaterator is excellent.

  • i just bought beaterator last week and been on it since then....been using it along with fl9

  • Kinda reminds me of traxxxpad except with alot more sounds.

  • KORG DS 10 !

  • i got this yesterday and it rocks :D! i work alot with FL studio and Q-Base, ok you cant compare those program with this but its not far away, what i love most of all with this is live play. that is a future every studio program sould have. any way, this program is verygood and fast to learn. simple but still very good...

sorry if i spell bad :P

  • hows it compare now after 2 weeks.

Ive used fruity loops, reason before. If this can sound like those, allow me to use non timbaland drum kits etc and is easier to use then im buying it.

  • i use Fruity Loops 8 producer edition. i got this game its really good theres lots of tutorials, its easy to use and its like a mini FL if you want you can check out the beats i made with it.

  • Damn ads

  • i remember all the rappers in my city would rap on beats that were made on the playstation 1 in a game called MTV music generator.i was like damn.this shit sucks.

id have to say the same about beaterator.

Id make a game to actually make beats profesionally and the online interactions would be to collaborate with people and whatnot.maybe even do like a little matchmaking show for others to watch other producers show the instrumentals they have composed and players rank them. :D

  • i think Korg DS-10 for Nintendo DS is much better...this is loop using noob shit

  • i may, get a psp for this.

  • get a drum machine

  • is this game worth the money?

  • if u wanna make music get instruments not a game

  • Gotta Love Timbaland beats. Definitley picking this up for my PSP so I can create my own beats.

  • Check out my page and there is a vid of me pulling over right after I got it and hooking it up to my car stereo and did a mix for a few. NICE!!

  • creaters of gta

  • Comment removed

  • It looks like i should get this, always been into making music but never had very good tools, this looks like it can do a lot for cheap price.

  • right, but then the music samples would of sucked & it would not have many features do to the limited memory on a cartridge.also this could only be used on a DSi do to no SD card slot on the old DS.

  • korg ds 10. look it up

  • as a sound engineer i thought this was a toy but a guy at work let me try it and its awesome.

if anyone wants to get into music production get this, its a great introduction.

think of it as a mini logic.
