the reason the star spangled Banner is our national anthem is because it depicts a battle that was a major turning point in an early american war, it talks about american heroism and valor in the face of seemingly insurmountable odds, America the beautiful is a pretty song, but it really says nothing about us as a nation

Great version- I've always thought that this should be our national anthem. It stresses the greatness of our country instead of the other war-mongering "star spangled banner" Wow, a song that actually promotes brotherhood-fantastic!!

Not the complete song...but some notes are really much out of key; it´s a fact. But anyway...the words and meaning of a song is always the most important. That's irrelevant; I may as well ask "what would I do if I controlled the weather," it's a non-existent hypothetical. And why are the Japanese singing it? Second, national identity is important; people acting in a RATIONAL self-interest (which inherently considers others' needs) is what drives competition and ultimately people improving their lives and the lives of others.
