I had a yamaha aerox scooter and my friend had a piaggio nrg scooter when we were 16. We both gave them a fair bit of adolescent abuse and both held together really well. However the NRG did seem to rust a bit quicker than my aerox. Both of these scooters use the 'minarelli 50cc' so reliability should be similar. Both well made scooters but i'm like you, japanese all the way.
I've been driving a 50cc Kymco People-S, which gets quite popular popular lately, and I like the bike a lot. I got it new almost 3 years back. Have my shop service it every 5000 km (I drive about 10.000 km a year, so now about 28.000 km total). It's mostly just small wear&tear parts every time that need oiling or replacement, just regular maintenance I guess. Only now my front disk brake caliper is busted and replacing that is kinda expensive! :( Tires cost the most though. Anyway, fine bike!
i think this video is great man!! but anyway you never mentioned suzuki, which is the best (for me).... make a commentary video regarding suzuki bikes just like the suzuki gsx r1000 2012 model... Its true that chinese brand bikes are really disappointing... i have a friend bought a china made bike, 2 weeks after his puchase, the the spokes from the front wheel breaked!!! its kinda dangerous you know... i really dont recommend china made bikes!!
I love this video. (in a good way) i think you have adhd. It's not a bad thing though. My algebra teacher has it, and class is NEVER boring EVER. Good vid man
It's true to say that chinese scooters aren't up to the standard of some top brands at the moment, but they are cheaper on parts and you get a lot of bike for the money. If you store them correctly there is no reason why they won't last. I've had my chinese scooter nearly 3 years and it's still going. I've ridden it loads! Sure I've replaced a few minor parts but it's a lot of bike for the money and they are getting better all the time.
sounds like your riding a parrellel twin is it a cbr 250 or ninja 250 as if its a modern one your contradicting your self here as your bike is put together in china and also some parts are made in thailand
@CR125MANIAC I ride the ER6f. Which is a 650cc parrellel twin. Good ear. And we're talking about BRANDS not where they are built.....and there's a big difference. A Japanese brand built in China still has to pass through Japanese quality assurance........while a Chinese brand doesn't.
@13mordeth oh yes I appreciate this as a lot of items now are made in china because if cheaper labour and faster production but yes they do still have to pass quality control.
I was just pointing the mere fact that you failed to tell the fact that your bike is built in china too
research your Chinese bikes--Qingqi enduro 200cc/250cc bikes are very good Chinese-made bikes (Qingqi is the OEM for Suzuki 250cc and under engines--something they don't want you to know). Go to chinaridersdotnet and mychinamotodotcom for good forums on these bikes.
I just got a sachs 150cc my first bike to learn will get better one when can afford one only probleme sometimes i put front break on ever so slight, at say 30mph and the bike seems to viloletly wobbles kinda like fish tails only dose it from time to time got mate to try it and not do it for him any ideas what it can be
This is a silly video. Sort of like comparing jewelry purchased at Walmart, to jewelry purchased at an expensive jewelry store. Is anyone surprised to learn that a diamond from Walmart ($89.95) does not compare well to a diamond purchased at Jared, The Galleria of Jewelry ($8,995.00) ? The reason people buy chinese scooters, over Honda or Kawasaki, is based on the low price. For the initial investment, the chinese scooters are exactly what the buyer pays for. Suck an egg.
well in scooters i had a chinese jonway 50 and also had a honda elite 50sr plastics on the chinese where junk but other than that i never had a problem with it in over 45,000 mile before i gave it away to someone in my family who beat the heck out of it and it lasted another 20,000 miles before it gave up because he didn't take care of it and do the oil changes like i did
@kx250fmotocross I'm going to have to stop you right there. Kawasaki, while holding and maintaining a reckonable name, began manufacturing it's bikes in 1959 as an offshoot of its aircraft engine operation. By that time, Honda had already proven itself to be the world's largest and most reliable motorcycle manufacturer. As you can probably gather, Honda was years ahead of Kawasaki-nonetheless achieving the ability to be known as the best. Good looks isn't quality son.
@XichhassemichX im sorry but Kawasaki is the better brand. Just because Honda came first does not mean they are any better. In 1959 maybe, but not today. I have owned many new and used Hondas and Kawasakis over the past few years and Kawasaki is just better. You were right about Kawasakis looking better though.
@XichhassemichX Actually Kawasaki Heavy Industries is one of the largest ship bulding companies in the world. Yes they also make aircraft, even during WWII. Kawaski got into the motorcycle mfr's business as a way to publicize their name.
@PeterDad60 that is EXACTLY my point. any time a company, be it motorcycle, car, or aircraft begins producing different products much after other industries were a head of them in the marketing line of said products, all the new industry has to work with are the mainstream assets of the company they are trying to compete with. because the new industry is inhibited by this factor, one can only assume that the company that worked on their products longer has a better chance at success.
@XichhassemichX Well your point is well taken. Sirchio honda started out in the 1920's making piston rings and gradually got into the motorcycle business.
You missed a terriffic argument in a video about a Hyabusa beating Harley-Davisons. The guy I was arguing with kept trashing HD. He said he was a motorcycle mechanic that ownes his own business. I kept pointing out to him inovations HD has made and nowerday's HD riders a mature group who have no need for speed as most have wives and children.
european piaggio, vespa and and aprilias, according to my friend who is a scooter mechanic, are good. chinese are shit. my friend has a thai built honda ls 125r which is a very fast two stroke, that hates cold weather lol, a few things have gone wrong but honda quality non the less
take it from a chinese motorcucle owner, dont buy one. im currently having to repair all the plastics on my lifan lf 125gy, the mirrors fell off, they wiegh to much because of the poor metals, they blow fuses and bulbs like crazy, the wheels buckle very easily. although the engines are fine, just the plastics are poor, bolts falll out and wiring is shit.
Dont know about the kawa V's Honda argument , ive never heard that but my old ninja beats my previous bikes all gsx's gsxr's in terms of reliabilty and excells in other areas too ... i went with a freind to the local Honda dealership he bought a brand new Cbf125 .. one year down the line that bike is a shed ... rust everywhere and i dont mean just on the usual places like fork legs and handlebars , its even rusted on the frame , where the neck / yokes are ... bad quality !!
Italian scooters feel like they are made in China. The electrical components are sub par quaility. We see kill switch failures in the rain all the time. Aprilia, Piaggio, Derbi....all shit.
You need to curb your ADD, you remind of that dog "SQUIRREL" and off you go in another direction. Yamaha and Honda make the best quaility scooters on the planet. I'd rather ride a bicycle than own a scooter.
After many years of not riding I have recently made a return and loving it. I was on a mega low budget and so could not afford the yamaha ybr that I wanted so went chinese. I bought a Chituma 125. However it has been a fun bike to ride so far so long as you are sensible and not go mental. I get good milage (around 95mpg), and whilst I am not a speed demon (any more) it tops out at 65mph - which impressed me as I was expecting about 45mph tops. As for reliability, I will keep you posted.
Suzuki and Hondas are the best ones. I would have to argue with you M13 that you can't really just judge on brand or where it is made from. It's how they build them is how you should maybe judge. Can I get a scientific explanation on why Chinese bikes aren't as great instead of just saying just because it's Chinese that it sucks?
I have two bikes. One Honda VFR800R, great bike for cruising and looking good. THen a BMW thats amazing for long distances. but my bmw is having some issues.
from what i heard about the hyosung gt650 is that all bikes from/above build year 2007 are well made and another minner is it drops very quick in price .But for the price they look nice especially from first bike
Yep! Believe this guy they are steamin bags of trash on wheels! LOL Runs for two weeks them something breaks. Thats why I got rid of mine and bought a Hayabusa
They all start really bad when its cold, you can fix this by changing the main jet to 1-2 sizes bigger.
A lot of people dont bother to check the valves... this leeds to a shitty driving scooter.
But when my boss decided to buy new chinese scooters it was terrible. They where allways problems with the engine and the electrics. The plastic is sooo thin it breaks easy. Once i had to brake real hard and the suspension broke in half.
I deliver pizza on scooters for my job next to my study. And i have driven a lot of 50cc scooters for my job. A lot of my friends have scooters too Heres my opinion:
Piaggio: Good build quality, Best 2 stroke engine fast and reliable, Rotax 4 stroke engine is ok, Shit suspension. The electronics dont like water.
Yamaha: Good build quality, Outdated 2 stroke engine, Slow but reliable 4 stroke engine. Bad suspension.
Kymco: Best engine, Best quality, Best suspension, Best scooter
I ride a Piaggio Ciao, shit suspension and everything rattles when you go over 30 km/h but the things still built like a tank. It sat unused in our garage for 11 years and started on the 6th try after some fresh petrol poured in. I've modified it a bit to make it lighter and I've pulled the carburetter plug so it tops 50 km/h.. speedway style through the bends during winter :) Though I'd use my Honda MT5 during the winters if i hadn't sold it.
@ThomasD909 lol i love your videos man i got into watching ya blogs after you had the balls to go ape shit about that fuckwit beating a innocent dog. Cheers from Australia
I have a 2010 Kymco Super 8 50 (Had 400km - used as a Indy 500 pitcrew scooter) & a 2011 (chinese) TaoTao 50, bought both @ same time because I was told the TaoTao would fail and leave me stranded, or how I'd work on it daily.... I've rode both as daily drivers now for 6 months NON-STOP and the Kymco looks awesome BUT it never wants to start & the electronics act up, top speed 36mph. YES my TaoTao needed a $12.00 CDi after 100km BUT now 5000km and runs GREAT! luv my TaoTao & it was only $500.00!
I have a Peugeot scooter (Peugeot = French = European), It actually has a SYM engine. The quality is OK, Comparable to the Taiwanese brands. In my country there are only 3 Japanese four stroke 50cc scooter models available, but their engines are so over-complicated that I wonder if they are actually cheaper and more reliable in the long run compared to Taiwanese basic 2 valve, carb, air cooled engines. Who needs 4 valves, liquid cooling and injection on a 50cc?
What makes you the final word? A china scoot can be right for the right person. If you like a project or working on your scooter they work. They are not for everyone but if you know what your doing they can be fun, it is like the difference between a kit remote control air plane and a ready to fly plane. depends on what you want.
@WuBingWay It seems that YOU are not good in geology, Taiwan may dream of independance but still officially belongs to China and WTO do not recognize Taiwan as a country.
@mordeth13 or anyone else know of Jinlun Motorcycles? Im not sure where they're from but are they any good? i was looking at their 250cc and it was comparable to the Kawasaki Ninja in specs same CC brake etc.. same weight almost. I've seen a few videos on here and a guy or two says its a good bike. anyways please help this will be my first bike ever i need a bike $2000 or so and i have to be able to pay credit on it anyways thanks all
Kymco is made in Taiwan i believe... I have the KR Sport in the UK and it really is good, not as good as the Honda CBR which it copies but looks better than CBR, shame about top speed
There's some scooters that are like 400-600 CC, would this be preferred over a motorcycle for just general commuting where you also need to use the highway in your daily travels?
I'm from Europe and on my second Piaggio NRG (1st one was MC2, crashed that one, my new one is MC3). I can't imagine a better scooter could exist. So if Japanese scooters are better, I'm sure you can't really tell the difference. The only Japanese scooter popular here is the Aerox, which is held in high regards and equal to Italian brands (Aprilia & Piaggio).
Motorcycles are different, Japanese bikes (yamaha, honda) live longer and are cheaper to maintain, whereas Italian bikes are not.
i have a gilera 50cc 2006, fantastic package for a 50cc. tops out at 105kph on stock engine. get down to the ground in the corners. great quality and garantee, i already have it for 5 years not a single engine breakdown. cheap maintenance. cheap parts..depends which parts jajajaja. i think theres a difference in taiwanese bike to italian bikes. italians know thier stuff! all aprilia derbi vespa piaggio gilera are fantastic machines.
there are a ton of excellent chinese scooters and motorcycles out there, you just have to pay 1200-2500 for them. Look at Lifan, Zongshen, Tmec, Qlink, Shineray, Loncin, Hi-Bird, ect, ect.
is GIO scooters a bad brand? thats what im getting soon this summer and after seeing this vid and knowing my scooter is make in china lol im having 2nd thots
I raced for Kawasaki, as far as quality goes I wouldn't compare them to honda because I know several people who have to replace all kinds of stuff on their honda's while I have only replaced a sparkplug...
I've owned and ridden Vespas, Lambrettas (all vintage) Bajajs, and a couple of Hondas. The old Italian bikes, some of which were made in Britain, have great build quality, but are foolishly designed. One model, the early Vespa Rallys, I think, had the carburettor under the gas tank. The Hondas are designed really well, but the plastics etc. don't stand up as well. My two cents, anyway.
I've owned a Peugeot scoot, now own a Kymco, I've worked at a Peugeot workshop which also serviced Italian scoots. They're all fine! Kymco scoots (the older stuff) has some "rough edges" but from my experience the quality is above most italian stuff, if not all. Same goes for the newer Kymco's like the People GTi 300 and Downtown (Nikita/Superdink), they're comparable to their Japanese rivals. Good stuff about italian scoots here is cheap parts and a great dealer network.
Chinese may look cheaper to start, but give it a year and the maintenance costs will go throught the roof, part will break due to inferior quality and will put u in danger
I have owned Yamaha and Piaggio scooters, both 250 cc and the Yamaha was good but my Piaggio is far more reliable and handles much, much better. I agree the Japanese are better than Chinese however, the Italians have a quality that is unmatcheable.
I got a Honda CBF 600 2006, Quite a good bike and mine was left for 7 months in the garage whilst I was working abroad but came home, started first time... apart from the ABS which had been chewn away by mice... meh
Also i have own a peugoet speedfight scooter, I had mine a year. Nothing went wrong with it . Felt strongly built and did its job. Engine bulletproof too. One downside was if it was parked out in heavey rain then the immobilser would have issues. Other than that, it was a good scooter.
My mate bought one of those cbr 125 look alikes, He took it back within a few weeks and bought the real thing. The indictaor stick came off! Something you wont see on a japenese bike.
Ich had an Piaggio Sfera 50 1992 Model sold it last year, ran like the first day, theyre just so well build, like most italian. Peugeot scooters are also very well build.
You can't blame every issue Chinese scooters have on the manufacturing itself. Owners and dealers need to take a lot of the responsibility for the reliability or lack thereof of Chinese scoots. I've owned 4 Chinese scoots. 1 was pretty much junk. The other three are good scoots. What a lot of people don't understand is that a Yamaha scoot gets a lot more attention after manufacturing than most Chinese scoots. An owner or dealer that properly maintains a Chinese scoot can have a good experience.
I never owned a chinese bike, however my parents bought me and my brother a chinese ATV/fourwheeler. Talk about utter shit. It would vibrate and shake violently when you'd ride it. Shifting gears was a bitch of a task, and I can remember a time that when I drove down my driveway, the fucking ignition got so loose, that it fell out of the socket that did a shit job holding it in. If I can remember the brand is called Kazuma, and they share parts with another chinese brand called Roketa.
@neelantra Lol quit being a fucking troll. All I talked about was my horrible experience with a chinese ATV. What does that have anything to do with me being a spoiled, ungrateful bitch? The only thing ungrateful is the fact that you have no brains or english skills whatsoever. Get off the internet and go play in traffic so you can be someone else's problem.
@Oldkt English skills? Have you balls even dropped you fuckwit? What the hell makes you believe my 'English skills' are bad you idiot, and what the hell has that got to do with anything? You're a little potty mouthed dickhead kid. Get mummy to tuck your fat ass back to bed.
@neelantra Let me reiterate for you so you can get it through your head. You spelled "ungrateful" as "ungratelful". Also you said "Have you" when it should be "Have your". Therefore, your english skills are shit. So please, if you feel the need to harass me, do it so I can understand what you are trying to say. Enough said and have fun trolling you little shithead. ;)
@Oldkt oh big freakin whoop, my typing isn't 100%, so my pinky hits an extra 'l' or 'r' and then you - sir youtube grammr dickhead policeman makes tangential assumptions about the the 'English skills' of others. I'm sitting back on my comfy chair with limited room for hand placement on the keyboard - you need to accept the odd typo without freaking out you fag. BTW, it's a capital 'E' for Englsh because you do know that the word Engish is a proper noun right? Moron.
@Oldkt Gees you ae pathetic! You accused me of poor grammar (which had nothing to do with the argument) when you made critical mistakes yourself. so your internent grammar policing didn't work out. So now, because you are shown up as a douchebag, you go and piss off on another tangent and say something dumbass like "Feel free to take offense to my comments and replies!" . You really are a dickhead aren't you? There's not much matter between those big floppy pink ears of yours is there? Stupid.
I have a SYM scooter in the UK its been amazingly reliable for over a year and a half, problem is tho, whenever someone asks me what make my scooter is; they immediately assume its shit because of its foreign brand, but in actual fact its excellent, and I also want to move on to a Kymco 125cc which had caught my eye
@13mordeth On very long time right but BMW is the best quality brand you can find! And i think somehow kenshow is right. If you pay tons of money for mv agusta f4 1000 rr or BMW s 1000 rr you got a bike for your life. But your Honda Twinstar or the Honda Transalp shows Honda bikes are the most durable.
@SuperNobody1000 Yes and no. There are plenty of final drive failures and electrical glitches on newer bikes out there. In general though the construction is a reflection of the price - this goes for many higher priced Japanese bikes (Gold Wing, ST, etc) also. People just bitch more about little things when they feel like they paid a premium.
@technician172 Yeah, am getting that impression from the F800 owners website, although they have a very high user satisfaction rating. My training instructors said BMW/Honda are generally solidist, closely followed by Kwak, then Suzuki + Italian brands. Although, shortly afterwards my examiner took 10 mins to start his 1200 BMW due to a major brake failure light, nearly cancelling my test lol
I bought a Chinese 200cc Dual sport bike and it ran about 100 miles before the starter clutch went out, I replaced that and it ran another 200 miles before the engine blew up and top speed was 50 MPH. Lesson Learned.
they are crap in Canada, they are cheap but you are lucky if they run for a week before they start to break. You also cant get parts for them anywhere...
I bought a Lexmoto Gladiator 125 and the only thing that needed replacement was the spark plug and thats it.Its been 4 months now and its got 1460km on it and there are no problems so far.
I bough a new scooter Baotian BT and on the very first week the rim got a little hole leaking air and the accumulator i threw it away cause it was shit and the gasoline arrow always points down that means i dont have gasoline but I actually do have. This is pure shit. NEVER BUY CHINESE SHIT! NEVER!!!
i had a jinlun t - 13 125 cc scooter with less than a thousand miles on the clock it was not bad for the 250£ i paid for it needed a lot of maintenance and acf 50 had it for about 9months and no problems luckily did 50mph too
had a hongdou gy 125 from 2004 brand new it fell apart within 6months..
My dad's Kawasaki has lasted since '99. He's upgraded it multiple times and it's currently running well. However, there are often problems with it. It is a very reliable bike otherwise and I can't wait to get it (3 YEARS LEFT!!!!)
lol it's not "high-yo-sung".....it's "hyosung"....as in add an H pronounciation to "yo"...and sung...as in ... "song has been sung" (dunno if that's grammatically correct) lol just fyi ;)
Over a year ago, I wanted to buy a cheap bike so I went to the local chinese bike dealer and proceeded to buy one. I hadn't even started the bike yet and the throttle cable snapped and the rear brake was stuck... The shop owner agreed to change to another bike but the two next ones also had small problems.
I ended up cancelling the sale, saved some money and bought a honda. Since then I owned 4 honda bikes (still own 2) and never had a problem with them.
Kymco: I must say i'm impressed by the build quality and it almost rivals the Honda's, i also heard they took over a Honda factory and that may explain why i found that the use some of the same parts.
AGM, Baffi, Kinroad, etc..: Pure shit especially the scooter types, Honda monkey/dax imitations are not as bad.
I'm a scooter/motorbike mechanic living in Holland. I refuse to work on a Chinese scooter the are utter shit and i feel really sorry for the people that bought one.
I've had a far share of experience with the following brands:
Yamaha: Made in spain by the Minarelli group, they are really shitty compaird to the bikes yamaha makes.
Derbi: Until recently made in Spain now they're based in Italy, about the same quality as Yamaha's.
i have a kinroad xt50q and i have had it for a couple of months since i started riding. i admit its cheaply made. it came in a create when i got it. but the power in it is really good and its a really nice looking 50cc. a bit on the small side, but i'm only small :) best of all it only cost £600 brand new 11 reg. best £600 i've ever spent
i have never ridden a chinese scooter so i cant compare but i have an italian offroad 50cc Motron. and its from 1994 i think. i have never replaced ANYTHING on that thing and it runs beautiful. ITALIA!!
I actually am from Europe and I own a Giantco 50 cc 4-stroke (I think its chinese) scooter and a 50 cc 2-stroke Peugeot (France).
The chinese one got some heavy electrical problems after about 2 or 3 thousand kilometres. The engine is actually very good, but the rest of the scooter just crap in comparison to my Peugeot one.
So finally just spend a few more bucks on your scooter an you will be happy a long time. ;)
TAKE THE HELMET and don't upload the vid! That's a win. Teheheherherherhrrmmm...
I can't believe you caught that crash on film JUST as you arrived! Doing my M13 catching up right now... got some good commenting for you in the newest video.
What I have understood that Chinese and Taiwanise made scooters/motorcycles are both very cheaply made, but chinese are some worse.. But I don't beliewe manufactures like Aprilia for motorcycles or Piaggio for scooters are poor quality.. M13 said Italian are about same than taiwanese..
To be honest I don't know any taiwanese motorcycles, but like Aprilia has won Superbike 2010 world championship, guess that can't be poor quality..
I searched for local Piaggios, costs 2500euros, not very cheap..
I've got a Chinese ped that cost me £300 new, best fun in the world, everything is broken and its less then a month old.. (i suppose it doesn't help that i keep jumping off it and doing jumps hahaha!)
Yeah Aprillia is kind of... sad...They make good scrooters and Bikes but they need much maintenance and the parts for maintenance/repairs are way too expensive.
I have had a CF moto v5 250 for a year it's been fine so far (knock on wood)

I have chinese scooter Baotian 50cc with big bore to 80cc.
Its originaly a honda GY6 clone. I made 9000km with it with no major failures.
Build quality is not good, plastic is very cheap and soft also original tyres are unusable.
But for the 300$ is okay. With 80cc kit drives ok with top speed of 85kmh

@GAZEDable Your rim is not true, so when the brakes are applied the wheel pulls from side to side=violent wobbles.

Suck an egg.

well in scooters i had a chinese jonway 50 and also had a honda elite 50sr plastics on the chinese where junk but other than that i never had a problem with it in over 45,000 mile before i gave it away to someone in my family who beat the heck out of it and it lasted another 20,000 miles before it gave up because he didn't take care of it and do the oil changes like i did
grandmackdady 2 months ago
WTF are you talking about? Kawasaki makes way better bikes than Honda.
kx250fmotocross 2 months ago
@kx250fmotocross I'm going to have to stop you right there. Kawasaki, while holding and maintaining a reckonable name, began manufacturing it's bikes in 1959 as an offshoot of its aircraft engine operation. By that time, Honda had already proven itself to be the world's largest and most reliable motorcycle manufacturer. As you can probably gather, Honda was years ahead of Kawasaki-nonetheless achieving the ability to be known as the best. Good looks isn't quality son.
XichhassemichX 2 months ago
@XichhassemichX im sorry but Kawasaki is the better brand. Just because Honda came first does not mean they are any better. In 1959 maybe, but not today. I have owned many new and used Hondas and Kawasakis over the past few years and Kawasaki is just better. You were right about Kawasakis looking better though.
kx250fmotocross 1 month ago
@XichhassemichX Actually Kawasaki Heavy Industries is one of the largest ship bulding companies in the world. Yes they also make aircraft, even during WWII. Kawaski got into the motorcycle mfr's business as a way to publicize their name.
PeterDad60 1 month ago
@PeterDad60 that is EXACTLY my point. any time a company, be it motorcycle, car, or aircraft begins producing different products much after other industries were a head of them in the marketing line of said products, all the new industry has to work with are the mainstream assets of the company they are trying to compete with. because the new industry is inhibited by this factor, one can only assume that the company that worked on their products longer has a better chance at success.
XichhassemichX 3 weeks ago
@XichhassemichX Well your point is well taken. Sirchio honda started out in the 1920's making piston rings and gradually got into the motorcycle business.
You missed a terriffic argument in a video about a Hyabusa beating Harley-Davisons. The guy I was arguing with kept trashing HD. He said he was a motorcycle mechanic that ownes his own business. I kept pointing out to him inovations HD has made and nowerday's HD riders a mature group who have no need for speed as most have wives and children.

Only problems with kymco:
They all start really bad when its cold, you can fix this by changing the main jet to 1-2 sizes bigger.
A lot of people dont bother to check the valves... this leeds to a shitty driving scooter.
But when my boss decided to buy new chinese scooters it was terrible. They where allways problems with the engine and the electrics. The plastic is sooo thin it breaks easy. Once i had to brake real hard and the suspension broke in half.
Dont buy them for ure own safety

I deliver pizza on scooters for my job next to my study. And i have driven a lot of 50cc scooters for my job. A lot of my friends have scooters too Heres my opinion:
Piaggio: Good build quality, Best 2 stroke engine fast and reliable, Rotax 4 stroke engine is ok, Shit suspension. The electronics dont like water.
Yamaha: Good build quality, Outdated 2 stroke engine, Slow but reliable 4 stroke engine. Bad suspension.
Kymco: Best engine, Best quality, Best suspension, Best scooter
Chinese shit

I ride a Piaggio Ciao, shit suspension and everything rattles when you go over 30 km/h but the things still built like a tank. It sat unused in our garage for 11 years and started on the 6th try after some fresh petrol poured in. I've modified it a bit to make it lighter and I've pulled the carburetter plug so it tops 50 km/h.. speedway style through the bends during winter :) Though I'd use my Honda MT5 during the winters if i hadn't sold it.

I've rode both as daily drivers now for 6 months NON-STOP and the Kymco looks awesome BUT it never wants to start & the electronics act up, top speed 36mph.

I have a 100cc Chinese scooter (sorry I forgot the brand name)
I've owned it for a year now, done about 5000km on it (I used it a lot)
And I have never had any problems with it, no rusting, no bolts coming lose, no seat flying off, body work still attached, engine okay.
Which amazes me because I treated it like a Chinese scooter, I rode it like it was going to break the next day.
I have treated it like dirt and it still runs fine! A pretty good buy for £400 when the next best thing is ~£900
SmallGodFly 7 months ago
I've owned a Peugeot scoot, now own a Kymco, I've worked at a Peugeot workshop which also serviced Italian scoots. They're all fine! Kymco scoots (the older stuff) has some "rough edges" but from my experience the quality is above most italian stuff, if not all. Same goes for the newer Kymco's like the People GTi 300 and Downtown (Nikita/Superdink), they're comparable to their Japanese rivals. Good stuff about italian scoots here is cheap parts and a great dealer network.

If I can remember the brand is called Kazuma, and they share parts with another chinese brand called Roketa.

So finally just spend a few more bucks on your scooter an you will be happy a long time. ;)

Yeah Aprillia is kind of... sad...They make good scrooters and Bikes but they need much maintenance and the parts for maintenance/repairs are way too expensive.
