Thanks, this is my third experience making a bird-house. I wasn't that confident when I first made my bird-house. But, that was a long time ago since I made one before. I had a good variety of ideas from you.
I have to plan making a bird house and im comfused because when he comes to putting it together he says the holes are already drilled on the back peice- Did i miss that or didnt he show it? Please could someone help me??
My question is that because tho door is too far up from the bottom, how would baby birds get out, before learning to fly? I bought a bird house like that but afraid to put it outside, yet. Any ideas? Thanks.
@MAVIEGUITARS The birds fill the gouse with stuff like grass and it is filled to the top so the birds are sitting by the door if you know what i mean?
Nice job, Mike. It's fun making these videos and there are always people who will criticize. You have good skills and your explanation is clear and to the point. I just made my own bird house making video after I had made some with my boy scouts. You can see it at 99timmie.
Mike, You don't describe what you mean when you say the back has to have a 12 degree slant as well. How to measure for that? Also, where do you use the drywall screws?
Very good, but I have read stuff that tells you not ot put those grooves on the outside. Apparently it allows predators to climb up. I would put them on the inside.
Nice job. You may also want to think about a roof that is slightly wider than the bird house to give you little protection from wind driven rain. It's a little more work, but just an 1/8 of an inch can give make a difference in keeping the nest dry.
mike i really like your video it, i just got through building what i call apartments for my love birds, 7 of them in a row, but i would imagine that the same principle applies when it comes to the hatchlings being able to come out, i didn't leave any cuts right underneath the entrance whole, oh well i guess i will find out when the time comes...thank you for your vid.
Great video Mike but we don't have Bluebirds in England. It was all going so well. I built the box left it in the back garden and then somebody pointed out we don't have bluebirds. This morning i saw two Great Tits.
Hey Mike, nice videos so far, good variety of topics! I found your 'how-to wash your dog' video through a youtube search, as my friend is dog sitting and didn't know how :) great job!

....wouldn't it be more easy if you cut diagonally then just flip the wood panel to get the same size and shape ?

Great video! This is very helpful for me, since I am building bluebird houses for my eagle project.
Do you know about how long building one will take?

Thanks for the post.

@thehumanfootprint Hi - I think he is saying that the top of the back board needs to have a slant so the roof can rest on it.

Safety FIRST! Please wear safety glasses while cutting/drilling and clamp down the wood so it doesn't fly out of your hand and possibly hurt someone.

2:43 you dont need to do that what are you doing youve already got your other side there once your draw that side
deckoland 2 years ago
No. Only one side of the wood is rough. So in order to have the rough side facing out you do have to cut the way I did @
2:43. Thanks for lookin out dog!

Haven't had a double-breasted matress thrasher in my nest for quite some time.
I don't think they like my choice of wallpaper.
