Warnie may have been a more clever spinner, but i have to point out some disadvantages that Muralitharan had: he debuted in a shit team, revived them and took them to very top, while Warnie was in a team of Invincibles who could beat anyone, also, in Sri Lanka, he was a great personality, when Tamils were being killed all over the country he was inspiring their team, and he also helped after the tsunami. So, Warnie is the more fortunate of the two. Not taking anything aaway from either, though.
best bowler to never have his technique criticised, most wickets for a spin bowler who everyone knows does not throw the ball, in other words people Muralitharan will never be considered greater for that reason, there is no doubt in shane warne he did legit and with no controversy!
LETS GIVE PERMISSION FOR WARNIE TO BOWL PACE WITH THE AMOUNT OF WICKTS HE HAS GOT FROM SPIN GIVE HIM A TRY AT PACE HE WOULD PROBABLY GET ANOTHER 5OO WICKETS ON TOP OF THE 5OO WICKETS HE HAS ALREADY GOT AND THERE HAS NEVER BEEN A BETER BOWLER WARNIE HE USED TO SPIN THE BALL LIKe ALOT AND HE HIGHEST AMOUNT OF WICKETS IN ONE GAME/MATCH IS 8 WICKETS TOODLES HAVE A NICE DAY CRICKET4LIFE45
Warnie can do shit like that if he want's to. Legend. Greatest cricketer ever, not just for his skill, but because he was a character, he helped un-interested cricket followers like myself interested when ever the ball was in his hand. Warnie helped me fall in love with cricket and the art of leg spin bowling. Cricket needs more Warnie's, more characters, people who you can become excited about when they come in to bat or it's their turn to bowl. Warnie is the greatest ever. Period.
@shadowzone69 Indeed he did - but the guys I mentioned were complete cricketers ... Bradman was without a shadow of a doubt the greatest batsmen ever, but I don't think he qualifies as the greatest cricketer ... its a tough one though ... because he was so far ahead as a batsmen...
@cheekasri I have no problem with you putting Sachin first, not at all, the man is a living legend, i prefer Warnie as i am a leg spinner, and i'm Aussie, and because he had a bit more flare and character to him than Sachin, that's the part i really enjoy about cricket and no one was better than Warnie at being entertaining in my opinion. But i respect you're opinion and thanks for not being a dick about it and slamming me for thinking this way.
I have never been to Australia. Planning on a vacation though.
I see cultures playing role in what qualities we revere in sportspersons.
For example, in India, nerds are revered. Any nerd in a school is given so much respect for being a nerd! Everyone wants to be the cool-intelligent-nerd. Which is perhaps unlike the 'white world' if I may call (I am not discriminating...just distinguishing).
A calm Pete Sampras was prefered over Andre Agassi across tennis loving India.
@cheekasri No offense taken mate, all good. Most Australian cricket fanatics like the players with a bit more flare and character about them, i was under the impression that it would not be the case in India, so thanks for clarifying that point. We like knowing our favorite player(s) drink beer, are loud and vocal on field as that shows us they are passionate, that's what entertains a lot of us down here. May sound weird but that's how i like it, adds a bit of spice to the game.
@spinking458 We own spice.dont we.?!:D Actually we love to know about our players too. But not their beers. In general, drinking alcohol, behaving roughly is not respected in places other than the metros like mumbai(where ppl could at best be neutral). It is easy to booze but difficult to resist the temptation.Although Sachin and most Indian cricketers do booze(exceptVVSLaxman).Having a single woman in life is revered. Divorces, dating etc are mocked at. Just wanted to give a gist of our culture.
Btw, I totally understand how it feels for you, being an aussie guy. I know what you guys respect.
Its just the way we are brought up. I am not judging. Different places. Different cultures. Different metrics for awesomeness. Everything is cool. Mutual respect and harmony is all the world needs.
@cheekasri Exactly, different cultures. Like the caste system and partition you've got going on over there. As for Sachin the greatest cricketer ever? A greaqt cricketer no doubt, but the greatest? Get off it. He's clearly not even the greatest batsman ever--Bradman, Hobbs etc. Let alone all-rounders like Headley and Sobers.
About --Bradman, Hobbs, Headley, Sobers AND KALLIS (you forgot Kallis...look at his record..classier batsman than Sobers and is a fast bowler!! ).
All are great players. No doubt.
Greatest?again perspectives. If a tie is to be broken, stats are the first thing that come to mind. Sachin beats everyone else in every field except the batting average of Bradman. Remember rest lose in every other field. More than everything else, sachin's calm, good nature on and off field stand out.
@spinking458 greatest ever of all I have seen in bowling, I have seen Sachin too. they are head to head.......cant separate ......Just Imagine a one on one match, for five overs between sachin and shane...I think sachin hold the edge in my opinion.....
@spinking458 You sound like you know shit all about cricket.Cricket is a gentleman's game.Warnie sure was and will be probably the greatest spin bowler ever.He was also a wanker. To say he is the greatest cricketer of all time is not only foolish but also disgraceful. Having characters like Warnie was/is good but anyone that knows anything about cricket, ie most definitely not you, should know that it not only takes skill to be the best, but to have good etiquette and sportsmanship.
@grijam02 It is my opinion mate, shit on it all you want, but in terms of skill and the mark he left on the game, Shane Warne, in my opinion!, is the best ever. Have no problem with you disagreeing with me, but no need to be so rude in doing it. Never claimed to know everything about cricket, but i know enough from 10 years of being a passionate fan, to give an educated opinion on who is the best cricketer ever.
@grijam02 he was the greatest spinner the world has ever seen, will always be.he made us love test cricket with all his tactics plus no one wants to sit through just a long and slow game if you could get amazing talent and enjoyment together.Everyone has their own opinion,so dont trash anyone.
@spinking458 I think it's unreal to say the greatest cricketeer, Don Bradman was all them things you listed and more, he basically brought Australia out of the great depression. People would pay to get into the ground and then leave when he got out. The ball warne bowled was infact developed to stop bradman.
@spinking458 amen. Watching warne play was like a chess match between batter and bowler....now it just seems like bowlers go for dumb luck "if i bowl it in this spot all day eventually he will stuff up" this is why i stopped watching
I like the way someone of Sachin's fans remembers something about Sachin and that this is true every time. Every Sachin fans seems to know something unique about Sachin.
@yaanni hahahahahaha very true !! lol made me laugh....and they remember probably coz sachin has been playing for like....since that meteor took out the dinosaurs....
@stanley8125 Tendulker is the 2nd best batsman of the modern era, (many would say the best... but Brian Lara owns) so you wouldnt expect any less. Always was a good contest when warnie (best bowler) took on someone of Tendluker or Lara's (best batsmen) abiity.

About caste system.
I hope you invite knowledge and are not the kind who knows a little, talks a little and closes ears thereafter.
The ancient hindu tradition was to never mix knowledge, wealth, power and worldly-skills.
No one possessing one of the above qualities must have the other. Otherwise there could be disorder Thus, the society was divided.
No where is it written or preached that one caste is lower than other. It is the european idea to show low our culture.
