  • You play it like if you were bored...lol

    Amazing cover man

  • you make it look so easy. good cover man

  • man you are the best I have ever seen play piert , you are so AWESOME IM going to watch you and try to play Rush and I know it will be the hardest thing for me to do , But I set my mind to it I will , I have seen Neil piert 3 Times and hes so amazing to me that I dream about Playing that good lol just half as good , But my friend you are the best I have seen Other then Piert , cause you can play like him .

  • Awesome cover my friend, keep up the good work. You make it look so easy being so relaxed and calm the whole time. Great job!

  • He looks like officer Slater from Superbad (:

  • HOLY CRAP! thats all i got to say Great Cover man!! keep it up

  • are those pro mark niel peart sticks? those are my favorite

  • Fantastic.Well done.You made it look easy.

  • So after a year or more I looked again at my vid and saw all the comments! I like them! The good ones, the bad ones and the stupid ones. Thanks Folks!

  • @thedrumfiles Hi! Excellent work!! Can you tell me how you mixed Rush in with your drum track? Thanks!

  • I hate when people make comments like "double bass isn't needed to play this song." Who cares. This is a superb effort and your timing is impeccable, especially in the beginning. your relaxed style is great, just like Neil. Awesome job, dude.

  • yeah that´s very very good job men ...you are a good drumer hahaha XD

  • r u using a double bass pedal??

  • damn your good.

  • Comment removed

  • Good stuff. Just shows that you don't need a massive drum-set to do a cover to this song.

  • you are very good! :D

  • I thought Neil Peart was the Drummer? Not Geddy Lee.

  • Really good tight fills, very nice!

  • I gotta say the Exit... Stage Left live version with the solo is much cooler. It has more complicated fills and the drums sound much cooler.

  • is that a 15" crash? it sounds sweet!

  • excellent job

  • quite a few missing details I would say... but It's Neal Peart creation... so it's not easy

  • You are really good man. Keep it up

  • I don't think anyone can do this song the way it was meant to besides Neil, since he has like, 50 drums surrounding him =P

  • no drum solo?!?!?

  • @DavidKC53 that is the song easy version but in live they do the solo!!! i maen rush!!

  • This is really quite good... Very good timing, relaxed, great sound... well played!

  • Wow. Really awesome job. :)

  • its not about slamming the cymbals or the drums itself. its all about your technique and how well you use your wrist. Thats where all your force comes from

  • @scrapes08 Tell that to Bonham

  • BRAVO!!

  • great cover

  • where is the ride cymball

  • Nice job man. Great cover.

  • Really great cover! Great recording sound! Everythings is micked??? Fills are great to...who can really play exactly like Neil anyway...????

  • really good thanx 4 this video ive been using it to learn how to cover this song

  • awesome dude keep it up :)

  • Very solid drumming mate. You made it look easy, and I saw somethings on your video that I was doing wrong, so thanks for this.

  • hey dude really nice cover and nice sound 2

  • I like the way you play, not to mention your kit is awsome. Great sound.

  • Good job. I'm trying to learn this but I can't get the part down where it switches from drum to bass solos.

  • lovely cover : )

  • men hit it harder

    NICE cover

  • Sounds good!

  • dude u look like u have a drum stick up ur ass, loosen up!

    good job anyway

  • Aren't you supposed to sizzle the hats in the verse, or are you? It sounds closed but maybe it's these headphone.

  • do you have a double bass pedal

  • looks like it at the end part!

  • double bass isn't needed to play this song

  • @AlexjBartlett But skill.......oh yes

  • hey you missed the drum fill at 2:37

  • your both wrong lol, in the official drum book it says "finger Cymbal"

  • No it's a cowbell.

  • Cowbell?

It does NOT sound like that! :P

  • I have a question.

On the intro it isn't a cymbal that you hit?

  • yeah its the ride cymbol

  • One word >-- Superb :-)

  • DOES IT REALLY MATTER WHO IS BETTER THAN WHO,,,, Bottom line is if ur a musician, respect, love and honor ur instrument,, thats ALL THAT MATTERS.... Great Job on ur cover BTW,,, and keep up the drumming man ur good,, PEACE

  • Why does always in this videos people try to prove something! Why cant we just see and hear the damn video! xD

  • hahahahahahahaha

  • Neil Peart and his right wrist is so sick how he makes these hi hat/ride riffs

  • Dude that was awesome!!

  • mannnnnnnn u hit the drums way too soft... it loses its taste u gotta hit em harder and let ur body be more relaxed and let it flow with the neat... u look like a robot.

  • Are you a drummer? Because it sounds like you're not. Every single drummer has these own style of playing, it doesn't lose taste. Also, his body is relaxed, non-relaxed would be your body shaking too much from things you can't handle. Him, on the other hand, knows what he's dong, and, is flowing with the beat. His hand moves, his leg moves, his turning, etc. is all lined up with the beat perfectly.

  • You are not better than him.

  • First, you don't even know him and you think your better than him? Videos don't mean shit. Second, I know you were talking to him, but I was just correcting what you said. Third, I might be like the most person caring about his grammar, before I post a message I make sure everything is right and periods, commas, etc. are where they need to be. If I mess up one word, I'll go back and fix it or re-post in it's correct format. Thank you, and please go kill yourself. :)

  • well dude....u r the one that spelled beat neat....so maybe u should learn 2 spell....

  • Honestly, you don't know enough yet to recognize what he's doing.

After watching your own video, I don't believe you really think you are better. You may like your style more, but he's developed good arm/wrist/finger technique and it allows him to play with much better feel.

You shouldn't be quick to criticize someone who has obviously been playing for a lot longer than you. It's ignorant.

  • OMG the video I have is like 5 years old... I have obviously improved alot... now can u just please stop responding to my comment, im sick of gettin emails showin the shit you guys write... i dont even give a SHIT about this... I was just commenting on the fucking video and it was directed to him and now all you people are responding to it like if i was talking to you... I dont give a damn what you guys think about my 5 year old video or of whatever i wrote just cut the SHIT PLEASE!!!

  • dude u r fukin awsome keep goinnn i like wachin u drum

  • thats great , chek my vids

  • 2:50...where's the stick throw, man!?

  • awesome mad you can do that neil peart ride beat perfectly! wayyyy better then me. i dont know why but i always stiffen up when i play that

  • Just try to relax you arms and the arms do the rolls for you. It's like in Rock Band 2 where you have to stay calm on the drums, otherwise you fail, staying calm is half the job of drumming.

Only if you can play the with no music in the background perfectly, let spit fly and heads bang all day! :D

  • yea im gettin better and better every time i pracitce it. almost got it down! i tried to bounce my stick more and it helped a lot.

  • Exactly. It's all about arm and bounce, the more bounce the more calm you get and more accurate you hit. Just don't overbounce otherwise, it just doesn't sound right. Many people tend to do that, if you do, then just listen to the rolls in the song a few times and find out the pattern. Like is it 16th notes first and then 8th or mix up and so on and so forth.

  • will do. thanks for all your help man.

  • dude dont be so stiff. have fun with it man!

  • are those neil peart signature sticks?

  • Hey what kind of drum set is that?

  • It's so cool how you can play so calm. If I could play like this, I would be all over the Freaking Place with it!!! Sticks, spit flying EVERYWERE!!! lmao

  • @xavierkickstand hes not using a double bass. you can tell cuz the high hat stays closed

  • LMAOAOAOAOAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH (Wheres the emotion) (It's up your ass) OMG lmfao

  • amazing

  • dude, that was really good. ur just a little stiff. itd me more fun to watch if u played with a little more emotion. but still sick

  • It's good.. But.. Where's the emotion?

  • good job man

  • i like your set. it looks like nothing is there but you have everything you need.

  • That was all right. The solo section wasn't quite as complex as the original, but it was okay. You're talented but you can't even touch the original, Neil Peart. And that's not an insult since no one can. Haha

  • not many people can do that man

    your coordination is great

  • Dude ur amazing! I have just started to learn this im thinkin this will take me a while lol how long did it take you?

  • flawless, such a perfect pocket, great groove.

  • if anyone says that u suck punch that fucking fag in the face for me and holly shit nice

  • Great drumming!!!

  • fuckin amazing 5 stars

  • cool

  • brilliant

  • this guy can groove

  • Can Anyone please tell me a good recording/sound editing program and what should I get to record myself? Like micks or something along those lines and where I could get them.

  • audacity

  • you should listen to dream thater mike portnoys freakin awesome

  • Agreed. I love Portnoy.

  • Your pretty good, do u think you can play vital signs. cause that one confuses me. l0l. Right on.

  • Very good man! I like very much your groove and your fils...good job! ;)

  • I know neil is damn near impossible to cover but you did a good attempt. There are some parts after the solo bridge in the middle you might wanna go back and listen to on the song you missed, but other then that good job

  • can barely hear the ride =( nice cover

  • im a drummer 2 so im practicing on it do u teach lessons????? plz reply

  • sorry dude, I have no time now, but check out the other vids here, some guys are explaining how to play YYZ. And there is also a instruction video out with all the Rush songs... good luck

  • props to you for posting an excellent cover of one of the best drummers to ever live!

its nice to see some decent covers for once on youtube, rather then all these 2nd rate amateurs chewing up pop culture crap and spitting back on here for some cheap admiration. the level of technique in this kind of drumming can only be appreciated by those who know what drumming is really about.

    beautiful.

  • I love how crisp this guy's simbles are. Greatcover. I would like to see anybody do the drum solo lol. (If possible lol).

  • lol Crispeh Cybals

  • NEIL PEART IS THE BEST!!!!! kudos to a GREAT cover!!!

  • Very smooth! Great cymbal work!

  • nice drumming i'm almost there !!!!!

  • nice! goo work guy!

  • are u retarded!? clearly its jeans fuck im sure hes got brown legs. as compared to his arms and face. fuck. unless hes wearing panty hose.

  • perfect

  • little light

  • that is a tiny hi-hat. haha nice playing dude

  • No he's just playing really loose i play like that too sometimes.. just need to tighten the fulcrum a bit more so it wont look like that... pretend that you are holding a quarter between your thumb and index finger...

  • DUDE nice playin man

  • dude note for note nice playin

  • DUDE!!!

I have like LITERALLY learnt from this video :P

  • freakin holds his sticks weird.

  • no he doesn't

  • well it's probably the way i'm looking at it lol

  • Its probably because he uses regular 5a sticks. You probably use like 5b or something alot larger.

  • na my sticks seem to be the same size

  • sounds good

  • what mics did you use?

  • i like your kit

  • you missed in 2:35

  • the part at 3.55 was double base pedal.

  • you're really good!

    omg!

    amazing!

    ur a really smooth drummer.

  • Amazing !!

But how he plays at 3.55 ?

  • actually that was just the backing track drum fill that was orignally there but he replaced it with just a beat on the crash

  • i can play the intro but the rest is just crazy(for me)

    nice vid

  • man ur a really smooth drummer

  • sweet good job

  • very clean cover

  • that was badbutt

  • i like this good good good

  • curious... do you not have a ride or does it just not fit?

  • ...he does have a ride :/

  • then he should useit! instead of the china...

  • thats no china. It just darker in the middle. I think it's a Bosphorus? Anyway, he has one, he used it.

It'd sound preeetty obvious if he was a riding a china...

  • it sounded china...

  • ...yaaaaaaaaaaaa...

  • Zildian Rezo Ride.

  • I don't believe so, the ReZo rides are relatively new, I don't believe they were in production in 2007.

I think it's a type of Turkish ride, like Bosphorus or Istanbul.

  • Bosphorous Antique Thin Ride Cymbal.

  • There was no china in that setup. Both were crashes and the larger one in the middle was a ride.

  • ur toms sound awesome

  • 2: 48 nice fill. not too shabby...

  • Whoa dude!! Your are awesome!!!

  • 2:19 fricken sweet job on that man. Nice set

  • Awesome! nice cover

  • you forgot the ghost notes on the middle part.. but all in all good work!

  • Really nice job.

  • Your kit sounds awesome. Nice! :)

  • nice sticks. peart sigs. i have those they kick ass

  • uhmm, actually those are promark sd9 maple...:)

  • ???????????????????

  • amazing but dude yo gotta smash those drum heads

  • you did the drum solo amazingly well, good job

  • Very cool

  • u drum like neil pert, the way u look, u do it with such ease and hit them like neil does

  • good job, but missed some bass notes in the song

  • maybe he just have one bassdrum?

  • Im pretty sure peart only used one bass drum. theres no need for 2 in the song. I think hes talking about some of the simpler beats missing a hit or 2 here and there.

  • tight drumming

  • muito bom cara. parabéns!!!

    very nice man. congratulations!

  • 1:51 - 1:54, love that :D This song is so awesome.

  • awsome

  • thats was dope

  • Very Fluent, missed a few at the end but did not dissapoint very good

  • He is only human...
