  • boring it only works for the ubuntu range and nothing else like zorin

  • i like ur computer setup

  • its ubuntu!!!!!!

  • You do not need a disc to install Ubuntu. For newer computers, you could use a USB. Your computer could boot to a USB if it is from 2007-2008 And so on. For older computers, use the live CD.

  • @techbeast34 i like the 1 2 3 usb installer (google it) it will download, patch and put the image on a usb drive. the usd drive will be much more responsive to use when trying via live cd. i've tried the live cd option and the usb live cd image is the way to go. aslo if any windows users wanna try linux, i'm pleased with linux mint 11 katya.

  • you retard your always talking all of your tiring videos put your videos in trash..

  • will linux destroy my files and anti virus software plz tell me

  • Typical nerd; installing Linux, always playing with computers and a marriage that failed because of that. Well at least you made a lot of money Chris, you could call your bank account your "partner".

  • XP UNINSTALL: start/control panel/add or remove programs/Ubuntu and then uninstall :)

  • should people be scared of dual booting windows and linux

so dual booting does NOT mess up your computer right????

btw i am using linux or WILL be using it off of the live cd

i mean for people dual booting windows and linux, installing ubuntu from the cd COULD be scary.

  • all of you videos you just talking not doing somthing :/

  • Fuck off, u must show from zoom position but just u showing your face, fuck

  • i have a toshiba and woobie dosent work how do i make linux work on my machine

  • Thanks for the tips though

  • Thanks but already installed it to an external hard drive! but I know for sure that I can install it alongside Windows 7 whenever I upgrade my hard to a TB hard drive.

  • I would like to know how to install Ubuntu Linux my Windows 7 Laptop what to do

  • yay its techiegeek

  • So technically speaking I could install Ubuntu on XP who is already running in virtual box on my native Ubuntu rig! lolll

  • I tried installing Debian and it keeps stalling. I left it for a week and it still didn't finish. Any solutions?

  • Wubi, this was 2007, but that program's interesting..

  • I wonder if this guy has ever gotten some pussy.

  • STOP!

Before you go ahead with wubi listen to what happened to me.

I installed Ubuntu using wubi so as to not mess about with partitions and so on. While in ubuntu an update for "GRUB" came up and was recomended.

So I went ahead with this. The result?

The Grub update overwrote my windows bootloader... This gave me the GRUB RECOVERY> Comand screen.

Wubi is not 100% safe... make sure you have a back up of your current OS and files if you must do this.

Otherwise just stick to windows or mac.

  • @dontmesswiththeryhan Or look into what you install before you install. GRUB is a bootloader, if you already have one that you want to use then DON'T install a new one, its that simple. And even then grub will recognize windows and let you boot that if you need to. I too have had problems with WUBI but in this case PEBKAC

  • @dontmesswiththeryhan LOL that just means you're an idiot. Just use a live cd or a flash drive and use the "TRY" option

  • @dontmesswiththeryhan I installed Ubuntu 11.04 with wubi and have had no problems with it. I have seen in the Ubuntu page on facebook that had trouble with wubi too. I guess I am one of the lucky ones. I am thinking of installing it on a real partition. I am going to reinstall Windows 7 then install Ubuntu 11.04 again and split the hard drive in half. Instead of the 30 gig virtual drive that wubi gives you. I became a fan of Chris Pirillo on Tech TV and would trust what he says.

  • When the dude in the video gets older he's going to sound like john craymor (Jigsaw)

  • Linux Mint runs much better than Ubuntu and can be installed with a wubi like installer.

  • what was the name of the program rubyinstaller? or post the url for it.

  • could you please comment some of my videos? I need more commentors. Thanks :)

  • Gentoo is the best distribution out there !

You decide every thing ! - what kernel to install what packages you have on your system.

ALL the installation are specifically complied for YOUR specific chipset!

After the installation you will have the best/most compatible OS for your SPECIFIC system!

    Gentoo is all about performance.

The performance is unbelievable ...there is no other OS like it!

  • never learn anything from the dude

  • use virtual box or vmware fusion

  • @bamige1 VirtualBox is THE BEST.

  • linux rules!!!

    debian , fedora , suse , centos , all!!!

  • @l3n3tt debian is best.

  • This is more to do with wubi than linux. On the wubi site it says: pre-downloaded ISOs should be placed in the same folder as Wubi.exe so could i install windows xp from an iso that i made from a windows xp disc?

  • I prefer Mint over ubuntu. Mint is alot like Windows XP actually.

  • Hey Mr dipstick in the video and all others. I am from South Africa and know the meaning of Ubuntu. It means "humanity to others". Now when you guys say it you are pronouncing it very wrong. It sounds like you are sayinf Ooboontoo.

Try saying it like Oo bun to. Bun as in currnet bun, not boon..Go try and see I am right... :-)

  • @michaelball123 americans, they say they speak English, the English don't believe them

  • dude you have problems do something productive . Write some code maybe or go help starving children in africa .Freaks

  • wubi is ubuntu auto load use it believe it love it

  • ubuntu is FREAKING AWSOME!!!!!!!!

  • Wubi, FTW!

  • i uninstalled ubuntu, but the option was still there when i re-booted computer. i haven't clicked it cuz im afraid it might crash my computer what i should do?

  • did you remove it properly? did you run the uninstaller?

  • yea. i even went into my C drive after i noticed the option was still there when i booted up my computer, and the files are gone. but the option is still there. how!

  • @darkdylaner Jeez, jjust delete them.

  • @buildingmovies what do you mean just delete them. delete what? i uninstall ed ubuntu but the option was still there. all of the ubuntu files are gone. there is nothing to delete.

  • The only cool thing about that video is the lights in the background like in the old flash gordon movies.

  • Is it possabel to use 3 operating systems.Like a tipel OS?

  • yes

  • linux is great but your very limited on what programs you can and cant use. Thats why i dont use it any more.

  • Very true. I personally love linux, but software vendors don't really consider it. And if software vendors don't consider it people won't make the switch, and if people don't make the switch then software vendors wont consider it. Meh!

  • My hard drive's gone down on my xp system. Can I use Ubuntu to recover photo's and video's etc?

    Please help

  • @RYEALLEN you can mount the partition on linux and access the files from xp as long as they are still there (they weren't corrupted)

  • @itsbrad212 Yes I done it

  • ok lol

  • hey dude

i have a windows millenium but want to install linux into it...

    do you recommend that?

  • omg windows me burn it in a fire o.O

  • @zloadesf Why do you have Windows Mistake Edition? WORST OS EVER! I bet you got like 9999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999 BSOD daily!

  • @zloadesf Plus, ME is like 10 years old! At least get XP!

  • @buildingmovies LOL for a second there i thought you were saying that you are 1 years old, but i then realise you meant windows millenium lol

  • @zloadesf first install a newer version of windows than osx and after that ubuntu...

  • @MegaXLG

dude its not that the millenium pc is my only pc...its just a very old pc which i want to make usefull again instead of getting dusty...

  • @zloadesf ïnto it:? Dual-boot? Millenium Sucks. Besides, ITS 10 YEARS OLD! I can send you a booteble windows xp iso for free. If you want I'll give you the iso link.

  • @buildingmovies

no im running having windows 7 on mylaptop but i have a oldcomputer which i dont use so i wantedto install ubuntu on it so its usefull anyways...

  • @zloadesf yes

  • @zloadesf i can help you but i only run ubuntu in virtual pc

  • @zloadesf Yeah, do that. Install Ubuntu 10.04 (not 10.10, because 10.04 is better).

You can install it as a standard EXE file, not a Live CD image.

  • @ProManUnitedFan

how the hell is 10.04 better? yes its long term support but still

give me a VALID reason lol

  • @zloadesf lmao WORST FUCKING IDEA EVER JUST THROW YOUR COMPUTER AWAY AND GET A NEW ONE

  • @jackthePS3GAMER

yeah i dont use it anymore but i just want to make it more usefull than catching dust

  • @zloadesf well good point but i dont think it could handle newer operating systems honestly i think i would put windows xp service pack 3 on it and be done hell you could even put a new intel i7 proc. and 4 gigs of ram one terabyte hard drive and make a badass gaming system out of it i did it with my grandads old Hewlett Packard and it did great and it still works good and plays all kinds of games i look at it like if the break fix em and use them some more but your computer is old obviously

  • @zloadesf i would use ubuntu 8.04 hardy heron

  • @zloadesf try puppy linux mate :) Runs hardly any pc resources and is built to, lets say 'recycle' older computers.

  • Your Linux isn't all games ! -.-

  • yeah windows suks

  • I dual boot the dv6oo I use. It;s great. Can't wait for Koala.

  • think wubi as Grub for dos a Bios booter for ubuntu linux

  • Please answer!:

If i download ubuntu on my computer, will it then automaticly delete all my programs/files on my ccomputer?

  • Only if your installing it, and dedicate the entire HD to it. But just downloading it will do nothing to your files

There are people that have found things that crash the RC but the rc is in build 7100, and the final is 7600( at least i don't think they updated the build past 7600 yet).

  • My Windows 7 RC has never BSOD'd on me. I've found nothing wrong with it so far. Anyone else?

  • i have RC too. It is amazing and very fast ;)

  • im with you brother

    mac or linux

but if you have a computer with min 8gb ram and a good processer and a good size hard drive the chances it will crash arent that big

btu still macs and linux is the ay to go

  • Virtualbox is the best virtual machine in my opinion, I have used GNU/Linux distros over many years and exclusively use Ubuntu now and run windows in a vit\rtual machine on that for work related things with little to no performance loss. Virtual box is free and available on many OS's. With virtualbox you can even blend the windows desktop in xorg.

  • so trying the real thing of ubuntu is this easy? i really want it now, however i'm only 13 and im not a computer nerd so i might want to research this a little more.

  • if u have any information that could help me plz reply 2 this or private message me

  • I'm guessing. I've never tried this method but I have a computer running Ubuntu and i've run it in VMs. Be prepared to search desperately for drivers, though.

  • lol 9:30 was funny

  • I have wubi on my vista laptop, a xp computer at work... wubi is the way to go!

  • is it free ??????

  • Yes, Ubuntu is 100% free of charge =)

If you don't want to download the .iso image and burn it to a live CD you can go to the Ubuntu homepage, select "Get Ubuntu" and then click on "Request free CDs" and the will send free Ubuntu CDs to your home.

How's that for free? You don't even need to buy an empty CD.

  • ehheh its free you moron.

  • im just installing it ob my vista... i send me a messege if u wana know if it works or not

  • idid it becouse vista sucks, no more problems

  • yeah me2 i jus wana delete the whole microsoft os and jsut use ubuntu but i have a litle problem it seems that my internet is much slower now than before

  • ya i agree about the internet, it dosent really bother me thoe.

i just purchased the mx revolution mouse for 80 dollars and i am hoping it runs fine on linux

  • i think it does

  • nah its cuz either your running it along side windows or your running it on live.

I'v ran ubunto cleanly installed on a pc before and the internet ran perfectly fine.

  • You really need to worry more about the hardware, it doesn't matter one bit that Vista is on your computer now. It's all about if your hardware is supported.

So try out a live cd first, you might have to download some drivers (I did, I needed to download a graphics card driver and a wireless card driver) but most hardware is supported.

  • Love wubi!:D

  • ok whats up with the lighting bar on the wall??!!

  • Fuck WINDOWS!!!! I consider this revenge for all the Microshaft bullshit hoops we had to jump through for all these years. Fuck you, BILLY!!!

  • nothing wrong with being a geek , i happen to be a geek aswell so why dont you come to me and call me a geek to my face and see what happens :)

  • How do you define a geek? I define a "geek", being someone smart with specifically technology... You make it sound like a bad thing...

  • Yeah, there are Sport-Geeks, Car-Geeks, Computer-Geeks, etc.

  • think of a pc ( or anything infact ) like say a car. you and the guy next door have exactly the same model, colour spec etc. or house exactly the same, dont you want yours to be better or improved? thats not geek thats humankind. plus your username contains "dotcom" which to most people would "tar you with the same brush" !
