  • Hi, this is really excellent. I've never tried chord melody before and it's really hard to get the smooth movement between chords but your misty has inspired me. Thanks..

  • you will get it down perfect and i hope you enjoy playing it....thanks for your kind post!

  • I love the way you teach, but some of the chords are glossed over quickly and the intricacies involving single notes go by too quick for me to grasp it. Do you by chance have an accompanying TAB I can use to fill in the gaps?

  • thanks for your kind post and taking your time to check out this video...i'm very sorry but i do not have tab for this arrangement. All the best with your music!!

  • hi,

is this is the original scale?

  • i'm not sure what your asking - original key?? and what do you consider the original?? This is in the key of G

  • @tonedr I meant key (sorry for that one) because I think that the original song was written in the key of B flat

  • i think you are right sir - i just liked the key of G on the guitar for this arrangement....keep pickin!

  • @tonedr Thanks, great job!

  • Dale, I'm applying on this video and I want to say that you have a special way to make simple things that are complicated (forgive me for my english).

    Tank you again,

    Pasino

  • thanks so much for your kind words....greatly appreciated! All the best with your music,

    dale

  • Great teaching job buddy.Got another like it to share???

  • appreciate you checking it out....just post a chord melody arrangement of mine on the Christmas Song. All the best with your music,

    dale

  • Dale are you shure the chords are correct ? I checked the tab on the the internet and they said it was just G, C and D. ;P Seriously though a big thanks for offering guys like me a chance to learn some jazz grips and start playing more sophisticated music. Must have taken you quite a while to arrange that - its beautiful!

  • Hello friend....thanks for your kind post and I hope you enjoy playing this great standard! The chords seem right to my ears but you may prefer something different.....keep picking!

  • @Guildguy2

    Hi Guild,

There are 'basic' chords for this song, and the best place to find them is in the 'Real Book'. That will give you the simplest sequence you need. But some chords can be substituted for others. (example Am for D7, in certain songs) It's an 'ear' kind of thing. Keep playing and all the best

    John.

  • Respond to this video... Nice one Dale.. I am slowly getting back into my guitar. Not yet facile enough to post more playing, but just touching base. Regards to you and yours. Take care.

    Regards

    John

  • hello John...you've made my day sir! Great to hear from you and i'm glad you are getting the guitar back in your hands. I wish you and your family all the best.....your friend, dale.

  • thanks for your kind post....all the best with your music!

  • Cool lesson !!

  • thanks for watching and i appreciate your kind post! I have a video response attached to both videos that show a 'performance' for reference. All the best with your music,

    dale

  • Just hacked this out and just wanted to say thanks. Great video, great lesson, great explanation, straight to the point....really, fantastic. I had a blast playing "with you". I'm going to search through your videos for my second project. Any thoughts on playing this song with a vocalist? Would you just take away the single note runs and a few other "chord runs"?

THANKS AGAIN! It's a great song and a great arrangement!

  • thanks for taking your time to share kind feedback - i'm glad you've enjoyed working up this great tune and hope you continue to enjoy playing it! I think you are right, with a vocalist i may phrase things a bit different just to suit their preferences and maybe leave a bit more 'space' during the runs allow the vocal to stand out.

Thanks for being a part of my channel and sharing music - all the best with your playing!

  • @abdef

    Dale,

It would be nice to have the name of the chords so I could transpose and vary the voice of the song. I have most of it figured out but I am issuing a few.

  • Nice arrangement; pretty guitar too! Thank you for all your lessons...one suggestion-please PLAY the song all the way through before you start the talking/lesson. It would give us a better idea of what is coming and what it will all sound like.

  • thanks for watching and the kind words!

There is no way to play the song and explain it in the time given. I've also posted a video response to me playing it to refer to....i actually have several examples on different guitars.

all the best with your music,

    dale

  • Just a beautiful arrangement and feeling for this standard... I've been trying to learn how to do these changes for some time, now,, but having trouble making the changes accurately... your performance is inspiring.. have an old gibson LG which I think it sounds best on... will keep trying.
