IF the fight would have been for life or death as a people. I would say FIGHT. And im sure that Sweden would have helped in that kind of a situation. Norway at the time was not that black or white though. Some wanted to fight and some wanted to submic and ride out the storm.

If Norway had been supporters of the Germans, the allied forced would probably have invaded Norway. And we know about the allied ways of waging war (Dresden, Hamburg, Hiroshima, Nagasaki and so on).
@pack1 Hard on the Norwegians? They already had it hard, but not as badly as "non-aryan" countries i suppose.
I don't think either side was ultimately very good, and I'm not saying Norwegians should've been fully devoted to killing Germans or whatever, but i do think it was in their best interest to assist the allies so that they could reclaim their homeland eventually.
That's the way it turned out and that's great. I wish nothing but the best for Norway. I'm just saying it's always one or another in war and WW2 was a hard one politically for the nordic countries. Just look at the baltic region that got raped under the allied soviets.

Avoiding war wasn't a bad move, but i do think assisting the lesser of two evils is ultimately the best, which a lot of Swedes did, some didn't.
The Soviets were despicable though, and if my choice was either nazi Germany or the Soviets I would've gone with Germany for sure. Honestly, the evils committed by the nazis don't hold a candle to the horror stories of the Soviets.

Yes, oil and shipping are two big sectors in Norway (and norwegian co). But an american company, for example, supposedly choose Copenhagen or Stockholm for their base in Scandinavia, before Oslo. Not because Oslo or Norway are bad, only due to logical reasons. The cities and areas are bigger, more cosmopolian. But norwegians are welcome to both Sthlm & Cph if they want.

Kjeller flyfabrikk and Marinens flyvebaatfabrikk in Horten that produced airplanes up to 1972. That it existed several ships engines factories like FM motor, Wickman and Marna and others. Even cars was produced even early generation mobilephones Simonsen, Norway exports a lot of technology for swedish car production (Kongsberg Automotive). and you mentioned luskoftor LOL

@jn1720 there was all kind of universitys in Norway in 1970ies, and one of Europes best in TRDH. The last month the Norwegian economy grew faster than the swedish one, and that will continue at least end of 2nd quarter this year, and most likely due to an extremely high oilprice. Norwegian stock exhange got bigger turnover than the swedish one. A another thing on top of this is that Sweden is slowed down due to economical problems in EU. Sweden is in a hopeless situation compared wirh Norway.

The point of the war was to fight said ideology, which cost millions their lives. But I understand why the Swedes/Nordic countries were neutral, nazis win, Nordics are fine, nazis lose, Nordics are still fine.

I don't think either side was ultimately very good, and I'm not saying Norwegians should've been fully devoted to killing Germans or whatever, but i do think it was in their best interest to assist the allies so that they could reclaim their homeland eventually.

Avoiding war wasn't a bad move, but i do think assisting the lesser of two evils is ultimately the best, which a lot of Swedes did, some didn't.
The Soviets were despicable though, and if my choice was either nazi Germany or the Soviets I would've gone with Germany for sure. Honestly, the evils committed by the nazis don't hold a candle to the horror stories of the Soviets.

Norway was rid of their loans at the end of the 80ies, and money was started to be saved in huge funds (Europes biggest and worlds 2 biggest) Sweden needs a extreme growth in 70-100 years for to pass Norway (just look it up). Crises will come again, and cost level of the products sweden produce now is cheaper to produce in China. Sweden is doomed to be behind Norway. Sweden is in danger.

That's what the boring country Norway offer. Norway lies at the end of the world and 3000 billion in the oil fund is not enough reason stay in Norway in the long run.

@jn1720 Im not in Norway now poor swede, and I´ve been around the world. Im in a foreign country in south america working for a Norwegian company. Norway actually produce more hightech than sweden and is a bigger actor in the European space agency e.g. It goes out more software from Norway than the wasteland sweden. 3000 billion in oil fund will grow to 10 000 billion 10 years from now (that´s the estimate). Boring jobs is what you get in sweden, jobs that will disappear in about 15 years

@jn1720 Jag försökte svara från min iphone tidigare och råkade av misstag trycka på sändknappen. Personligen ser jag ingenting som lockar med Norge och jag ljuger inte när jag säger att jag inte varit i kontakt med någon från södra Sverige som arbetar i Norge. Som sagt, det är ungdomar som arbetar i Norge, som senare kommer att flytta när de vill få större utmaningar. Passa på att njut, ni kommer nog inte ha svenska gästarbetare många år till. Inte ens ungdomar..

@jn1720 Aha, what about the thousands of swedish nurses, swedish industrial workers, sweddish students, that enjoys a good life in Norway. Not so strange that southern swedes escapes from the DUMP in Malmo, Lund, Trelleborg, and other uggly places in south swe. They has shown documentaries about those social destroyed areas at Norwegian TV. Mostly of the ethnical swedes that lives there escape to Norway and Denmark. The amount of swedes arriving in Norway grows bigger and bigger each day

@brassas Ok, nurses, but it’s also the only category of Swedes in Norway who needs education. The rest is temporary jobs for youths. That’s what you can offer in Norway. I can’t see any reason to stay Norway more as a tourist when I’m retired. It’s a cold and boring place, like Finland and the northen parts of Sweden. Now it’s cheaper to visit Norway than before; 1 NOK cost 1,13 SEK. Malmö have rich and poor areas. Lund is diffrent. I saw a movie about Sandnes in Norway; a grey and boring place.

@jn1720 Aha what about the thousands swedes that search for the luck in worlds most powerful industry, the petroleums industry? They are educated as geologists in Norway ( A study you don´t even get in Sweden) and as engineers in chemical, process,automation and el-power. Not strange they want to escape the farms that only gives pennies in southern Sweden. All the way from Smaland and down is a DUMP...a land full of uggly monkies, that ethnical swedes escape from, a degenerated wasteland

@brassas Sweden is not = building cars. Especially not since the swedish part of Volvo build trucks, ha ha. Even if a monkey wear diamond and gold, it's still a monkey. Rich or not; a norwegian is a norwegian. We can't respect you. Who want to work in Norway? It's half norwegian youths from Värmland and Dalarna. I live in the south parts of Sweden and haven't heard any from here who worked in Norway.

@darkof Swedes comes in large numbers to Norway for to study geology, petroleumsindusty, marin biology, this coz Norway is best on in the world world. Scandinavias and Nordic oldes university for mining you find in Buskerud from end of the 1600, due to the huge silver export from Norway. I recommend you to check out NTNU in Trondheim, and you will see that the best place for Norwegians is to study in their own country :)

Yes, oil and shipping are two big sectors in Norway (and norwegian co). But an american company, for example, supposedly choose Copenhagen or Stockholm for their base in Scandinavia, before Oslo. Not because Oslo or Norway are bad, only due to logical reasons. The cities and areas are bigger, more cosmopolian. But norwegians are welcome to both Sthlm & Cph if they want.

@jn1720 It´s a lot of things you dont know about Norway. E.G that it existed 2 factories for production of airplanes. Kjeller flyfabrikk and Marinens flyvebaatfabrikk in Horten that produced airplanes up to 1972. That it existed several ships engines factories like FM motor, Wickman and Marna and others. Even cars was produced even early generation mobilephones Simonsen, Norway exports a lot of technology for swedish car production (Kongsberg Automotive). and you mentioned luskoftor LOL

@brassas You can not compare the technical expertise in Norway campared with the Swedish. The norwegians had to move to Sweden to study on university on the 70´s, haha. In fact, I like Norway and wish you good luck in the future. But right now we grow faster (as long as the oil price don´t run)

@jn1720 there was all kind of universitys in Norway in 1970ies, and one of Europes best in TRDH. The last month the Norwegian economy grew faster than the swedish one, and that will continue at least end of 2nd quarter this year, and most likely due to an extremely high oilprice. Norwegian stock exhange got bigger turnover than the swedish one. A another thing on top of this is that Sweden is slowed down due to economical problems in EU. Sweden is in a hopeless situation compared wirh Norway.
