I still wonder why the focused on his plasma grenade in two tv spots but mention nothing of it in the actual game. I agree, the story and the game play elements were separate, but I don't think that's the point, the story in Halo was a compelling, well though through story that I'm sure many people appreciate in their own way.

actually, of the 300 selected only around 150 made it through to boot, then after the augments only around half of them made it out alive. all and all, i think there only ended up being 72 Spartan II's. don't quote me on that, i haven't read the books in 2-3 years =(

PersianSpice, Master Chief was the first one to be enlisted in to the Spartan 2 program so the fact is that Halo Wars is not set before Master Chief Petty Officer John 117 it is just that he was not at the battle when it occoured, he was with the rest of Blue Team not Spartan Team Omega, who are the Spartans that appear in Halo Wars.
