the amen part is definitely the hardest part, i love this song, especially the alto part (i'm biased), but these altos are a bit lacking. i couldn't hear them at any point in time. as for the whole choir...anytime the word "patris" was said, i cringed because the r should be flipped...but otherwise, pretty good. the tempo was a bit slow, but good work.
We're doing this in three weeks, it's the second time I've sung this piece and I'm tripping on the same area. 3rd movement, tenor line, measures 54 through 87. I have it memorized and can do it in my sleep and sing fine along with the Cambridge singers but during rehearsal it falls apart. I just dropped a line to our choirmaster tonight hoping we can find time to do this to rote by performance. Good luck everyone who's doing this. It's a great piece.
@Nicktasticpiano I have to agree with you and nightwishwolf999: the "Amen"s HAVE to be the hardest part just because each part comes in at different times and it's hard to keep track on your own harmony (I sing 2nd alto)! But difficulties and all aside, it's SO COOL to be able to glorify God like this! The Collegiate Singers at The Master's College are going to sing the "Gloria" (among other songs) at this year's Christmas Concerts.
Good effort. The transition from 4/4 to 3/8 was a little loose (it's a tough one) but the 5/8 seemed a little more secure. I always find this easier to direct when the choir are without the copies.Great brass. Semper Fi! Thanks.
Wonderful performance. It's hard not to be drowned out by the brass instruments. This is even heard on Rutter's own recording of the work with the Cambridge Singers. You all did a fantastic job. Congrats. Please post a website so locals can come hear you perform. Thank you.

I just noticed .. I would be up and cheering when this performance was over. These guys didn't seem to care.

Most are with the Navy Band

This makes sense then, why the trombones were sounded so good.

So ... were any of the instrumentalists professional?
