  • I forgot Pat Paulson was in that movie! Never had to say a word to be funny.

  • Love this song:)

  • Everyone here trying to tell their own story growing up in a mean school is a FUCKING LIAR!!!!!!

  • I went that school with ethel, josie, nelly, and ronnie cannon who sings on you tube. we were in a class of our own.

  • This song makes me think of my aunt. We lived in a tiny little town with more churches than people. My aunt was a scandal because she was an unwed mother and "gasp" wore pants and make up. She always said she should show up at the little school her kids went to and share all the gossip she knew about them. Since they felt it necessary to talk about her and question her kids. My grandpa was a bootlegger and just about all of them stopped by at his house after church.

  • Just a fine ol' T. T. Hall song, and a classic voice.

  • I have never seen the video of this song.. thanks for posting! just as great as the song, she's my kinda gal!

  • is this why God sends Twisters to these parts of the country? jus wonderen. Or... is is that why people choose to live there? Seeking sympathy.

  • Communities always pick out the person who is the most different and make it their project to make that persons life a living hell intill they move or explode. Humans, especially righteous ones, are cruel and vicious when they feel like it. And people wonder why theres crime and murder...

  • Loved this movie, the song is so true! Hypocritical people in this world lol.

  • Well learn lesson here fuck those hypocrites.

  • @junglejezzabel I was just wondering the same thing.

  • @junglejezzabel Update: I just googled chewing ice and it looks like it can be a sign of sexual frustration. I'm guessing she has a little sumthin sumthin on the side with him so she gets frustrated and chews ice when he is away. xD Have to love that PTA panel!

  • @junglejezzabel yeh it means she used to drink a lot when he was away :)

  • @junglejezzabel Perhaps Mrs. Taylor was having a fling with the ice delivery man?

  • @junglejezzabel i thinnk by saying she uses a lot of us when he is gone is to say he is abusive to her

  • Louie Nye and Pat Paulson in the same movie. Priceless.

  • They did a second version of this movie If i remember right. I have seen this movie a dozen times thru the years and I will never tire of it. Do not judge lest ye be judge! Don't believe everything you hear and only half of what you see! DOWN WITH HYPOCRISY!!!

  • I'm sure it's awful but I'm dying to see the movie now, LOL!!

  • good job

  • When I hear this song I have to laugh and think of my own Mama. She was a 33 year old divorcee in Baptist East Texas. My sister and I were loved and cared for by a mother who worked tirelessly 50 hours a week as a waitress in this small Texan town where middle aged and old men constantly flirted with her She took it in stride and with laughter. The neighbors would speak behind her back, calling her a whore. The kids at school couldn't speak to us because they were good church folk.

  • @jeff62rey youre mom sounds like a legend! this song is so true....bigots and hyprocrites...

  • @jeff62rey Your Mother sounds awesome! 8 )

  • @jeff62rey I remember those days. I grew up in CA, but the same attitude was there in the 50s. A divorced woman was a whore. Sounds like you grew up fine with a wonderful mom. Wish I could say the same.

  • @jeff62rey wow ...i think there is alot of us out there,,,, thank goodness there are those that stand up and say this is me....if u dont like it ,,,,so what....i like your mom already,,,,and yes they were harper valley PTA,,,but what is so sad,,,,it is still going on today,,,,

  • @CRAZYSHESHESHE Tear down hypocrisy whenever and wherever you can!

  • @jeff62rey that sounds at lot like my life so far

  • @jeff62rey gotta love those hypocritical christians

  • @LAchickee Hey now! Not all Christians are hypoctrites! I will cede that there are some who are, but not all. I am a Christian and I have compassion for people and I love and care for people...just like the Bible tells me to!

  • @jeff62rey beware good church folk .BLOODY GOD BOTHERERS.

  • Powder Blue Eyeshadow!!!

    hehehe

  • How clever to use the movie for the song. Awesome job. Catch ya on the flip side.

  • And the story continues. God I simply love this song. I remember begging my father to turn up the radio in the truck as a child. Especially when this song came on. It was one of my favorites! :) Such memories!

  • This song always reminds me of my mom, it's exactly how she would have reacted if they tried to tell her how to dress.....actually it's exactly how she did react when they critisized her for giving me inherit the wind, there never was a more interesting parent teacher confrence.

  • @shadowangel703

  • look she is smoken hot rub her bodey!!!

  • That's about right, the whole school district is rotten lying in bed together teaching the kids again. But remember folks, they all are friends. Friends like that one wouldn't need enemies. No its not just a movie.

  • My mother wasn't a very happy woman when she had to leave work one day I was in Junior High to take me home to change from out of my Koolots & 4" platforms --seems if you weren't a cheerleader back then -- if you had "too much leg" to show it was just all wrong !

    :O

  • Eden is one of the most beautiful women of all time!

  • I love Barbara Eden;I still dream of Jeannie!!Damm she was so hot!

  • This song gives me chills. It reminds me of my mom. When I was in grade school, she went down and physically threatened my 1st grade teacher for slapping my left hand hand with a ruler; trying to make me write right-handed! She would've 'socked it to her' too!

  • @6superb9 - haha We had a teachers who would bust a pointer over our heads;even make us wet our hands before giving us the razor strap.Today if they as much as grabbed you and shook you, they would be looking at a law suit;but we would get it at school and when we got home we would get it again!

  • I go to school at that building in the beginning

  • love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I heard that this song is based on a real event.

  • the 70s was one hell of a time peroid.

But weither its music or real life, its never the school's business as to how the kids are being raised.

Then in 1978 it was a movie starring Barbara Eden. Then in 1981-82 it was a TV series. But this video is Jeannie C. Riley's original recording and clips from the movie from 1978.

  • i love this song cause i have a little girl that just lost her dad then her nana

  • Producer Shelby Singleton had this song from struggling songwriter Tom Hall, but he was not sold on the song due to the arrangement and the voice of the demo singer. It was a definite copy of the song “Ode to Billy Joe” which was a hit a year prior. The voice of the singer was just too smooth, he thought. This song needed punch and sarcasm. Shelby then heard a song by Jeanne Riley and said, get me that girl and a song I’ve got called “Harper Valley P.T.A.” and I will cut you a million seller.

  • I love this song and I love this movie. American Classic sound!

  • People will always be hypocrites...that's why I always liked this tune. U betta tell'em what's REALLY good, Ms. Stella Johnson.

  • LOVE the song and the movie!

  • Wasn't this a TV show?

  • I Love the song, I Love Jeannie C Riley, I Love Barbara Eden, The Movie was very entertaining.... The song peaked at #1 in August of 1968... Thank you so much for posting this Kanabel YOU ROCK.....

  • This is so unbelievably true.

  • this was my life. it really happened

  • @MrsSuperman93

    they have it on netflix

  • This same sort of hypocrisy is what brought about the downfall of the Romanov dynasty and Imperial Russia. The Czarina pretended to be "religious" but her dalliances with Rasputin were too public to convince the public. Rasputin's reputation for profligacy preceded him in far too many circles that he lost credibility.

It isn't immorality that causes the downfall of civilization. After all, Rome lasted for centuries. It's HYPOCRISY! that is the cause for downfall.

  • @dakotagerman1 "Czarina pretendedn to be religious...." that is a lie! Can u not enjoy a simple song without spreading political lies?

  • @TheAmazingamerica

It isn't a lie! My family ancestry is connected to the Imperial Court so I am qualified thus so to write.

Go back and read my comment again.

  • @dakotagerman1 U r not connected to family royalty unless u r connected to their killers. Which probably is more like it, Rasputin was a crypto xew who tricked the family into thinking he could help their sick child. If u r insinuating otherwise then that is a lie. What brought the family down was their cold heartless murders by xews. Is that what u meant to say? Xews who hated Christianity.

  • @TheAmazingamerica

That is NOT! what I meant to say. My ancestry is Germans from Russia. (Do a Google search on the Germans from Russia.) We're not Jewish. Besides, what proof do you have Rasputin was Jewish?

  • @dakotagerman1 What did u mean when u said "my family ancestory is connected to the Imperial Court?"

I am well aware of the Germans in Russia. I have plenty of proof Raputin was Jewish.

  • @dakotagerman1 Anyway, if u r a Gentile, I wish not to argue with you. I just don't like it when I see the Royal Family slandered after everything they went through.

  • the movie is available on dvd...check barnes and noble. I have the movie on dvd and it is one of my favorite movies, its a classic.
