Why the hell do we choose to compare both openings when someone could just see what it would sound like if they played both at the same time?

No one can really say which version is better or worse; it's like comparing apples and oranges. That's probably why this is called "Extra Hot Mix". Food becomes completely different when you add spice or take it away, but it doesn't necessarily make it better/worse. It's all a matter of opinion. (Although I think they got the spice part backwards for the song -- this version tastes more mild to me.)

@drifter402 I actually feel that what makes Puzzle such a good song is the chord progression, melody, and the inherent groove present throughout the entire song. The horn section in the original just added some nice flair. The electric guitar added in this version gives it a more relaxed / chill vibe which I really like. To each their own though.

I've refused to watch it, for the first couple months after I finished haruhi, I thought I wanted a second season. But in musing, I realized that I really, really, really did not. That Suzumiya was amazing, and any sequel would just not measure up, especially if I had to wait an extended period of time.

This anime is closer to a real life, slice of life, than Suzumiya. No arguments.

@Cyllid Second served more purposes than just viewing material, thats why it was so odd. I mean the company has always been very experimental. First season was originally broadcast OUT OF ORDER, so the episodes were all wacky. this time they decided to improve their art, try different VA (or improve the originals) and truely give the FEEL of an endless summer through the Endless Eight. If you notice the acting and art get better each episode. I still love it

But if you didn't watch Haruhi (1st season obv) out of order, then you really, really, missed out. and got a weird story that went straight to the climax, and fell down for the rest of the anime.

It's not like they went through an entire story, then after creating it all, shuffle the episodes, they were designed to be viewed out of order.

Not really, that translation is close but anti-social implies that the person in question does not wish to have a form of social relationship. A hikokimori however, could wish to be with friends but have a social phobia which instead leads him/her to isolate him/herself.

the anime is actually based on welcome to the nhk the novel written by tatsuhiro takimoto so i doubt they could continue even if they wanted to. If there was a sequel then that would be different. Still, very good anime and a good novel also.

Depends. If your a Sci-Fi fan, then you have different ideals then that of a Romantic Comedy fan. How I see it, a long lasting Anime does not have a permanent plot, or a continuous journey; it is a piece of life. Yet an Anime like Naruto, with a consistent plot, will likely to become repetitive over a shorter span of time when compared to a piece of life. To avoid this, an Anime must keep the plot steady, and keep them entertained. Take Bobobo bobobobo for example.

It ends the way it ends to show that even when good things do come along, nothing lasts forever. It's a very realistic ending for an anime, almost too realistic for the medium but I loved every bit.

I believe one reason we watch anime is not for the realism, but for the fact we can relate to it. The ending wasn't really an ending. It was a "beginning to beginning" kind of ending, where they allow you to infer what were to happen, based on our knowledge. Just saying "Welcome to the NHK", wouldn't make it complete, I just have this feeling something else should have happened.
