You don't know and I can't prove it those are facts The other fact is we just wasted a lot of time going in circles and nothing changed Nothing changes Believers believe Non Believers don't Same old Song by the way I do like your rooio3 handle
@CJTELE-Then I suggest you look more closely into the archeological record. Clearly dismissive of biblical claims, and tell us where such claims originated. We have the records of this. Biblical literature is not historical accuracy. You can disprove the biblical god on that ground because there is evidence AGAINST it, just like other mythical gods. Anyone, however, can claim the existence of some OTHER unknown generic "god". But it still wouldn't be factual due to lack of evidence.
@rooio3 you don't have evidence you have hearsay Proof is Beyond Doubt I wasn't talking about proof from my end I freely admit that I cannot provide proof that I am right. Neither can you All you proove is that you are willing to waste your time for whatever reason on debate about God I wonder why this is so important to you I was telling a young guy not to get hung up on proving God to Non Believers
@CJTELE- It is the writings that are hearsay. Proof from your end is simply perception, not confirmation of a religious assertion. Any religious person who hold a particular belief will make the same claim. Doesn't make such a claim factual and explain why there are so many types of "gods" and "religions". We know where the influences for the formation of the hebrew god came from. It's nothing knew or original. Yes, there is evidence against it. That's why it can't be proved.
@CJTELE- You can't be "converted". That only happens in religions which make assertive claims for the existence of a deity. There isn't any proof or evidence for "God" for the same reasons there isn't proof or evidence for wizards, trolls, and the snake haired Medusa. People are free to believe those too, but it isn't plausible or rational in this age to assert their existence by saying 'not to waste time' trying to prove those people to non believers either. Lets use a little perspective.
@rooio3 Man you sure take this serious So people are fee to believe and you are free to non believe and the day drags on But you see I do believe In TROLLS SO LONG
@rooio3 Man you sure take this serious So people are fee to believe and you are free to non believe and the day drags on But you see I do believe In TROLLS SO LONG

What does that spell? Insanity.
@rooio3 Man you sure take this serious So people are fee to believe and you are free to non believe and the day drags on But you see I do believe In TROLLS SO LONG
Native Americans say life is delusion and Dreams are the reality I am so glad you got to use Dawking's D word I will not be forced to defend my faith Nor will I be bullied with your weak evidence that is not supported by any truly reliable source Truth is No one can prove beyond a shadow of doubt whether God exists or not You claim high ground that is not yours unless you can prove beyond a shadow of doubt that you are right Then you can claim your Noble Prize and enter the grand master state
@CJTELE-"I will not be forced to defend my faith"-because you can't. All one can do with faith is make assertions. "Nor will I be bullied with your weak evidence that is not supported by any truly reliable source"- I find this so funny, because your sources are no more reliable than any other religious belief or myth. Certain elements from the bible show the biblical god is not a reality. You can make the assertion A possible god exist somewhere, but you would know no better of it.
@CJTELE-"Native Americans say life is delusion and Dreams are the reality"- then you're delusion is based on a delusion within a delusion. How's that? Of course, let's use the Native Americans to affirm your own faith- with their practices in the supernatural, and spirits and panentheism, to which biblical belief would dismiss. That's logical.
@rooio3 You don't know and I can't prove it, those are facts The other fact is we just wasted a lot of time going in circles and nothing changed Nothing changes Believers believe Non Believers don't Same old Song by the way I do like your rooio3 handle
@CJTELE- Nothing more than ancient literature. If the biblical stories are plausible, then all the other mythical stories are plausible- because anything can be asserted through faith. Those stories and those gods are just as likely in any mind of a believer. Period.
@rooio3 true but you do get to pick what you want You don't seem to get it I don't seek arguement I have no interest in what you say You should try elsewhere I am very content in my blissful ignorance
@CJTELE- I understood that quite well. I'm simply stating your blissful ignorance is based on delusion, just as it was for ancient civilization. There's no argument.
Taticus work is sketchy and for the most part missing He live around 200 Ad His sources would be hearsay as well As far as they found the works and made up authors If at that time Peter John and Paul were the superstars Then why pick Mark Or Luke My friend you are trying to deal with a longstanding arguement I don't care if you see me as gullable I don't care about your opinion on Faith No one can prove it either way You maybe don't like that Too Bad As for Me Faith Stands
@CJTELE-Some of the same historians who wrote of jesus wrote the same of hercules, so it diminishes their claim unless we are to accept hercules as a real supernatural person also. The elements of the christ story are dependent on tales of the old testament that have been dismissed through archeology and other fields. So it collapses from that position alone. It doesn't matter what my opinions are if there is evidence proving a fact against the bible. Faith, in that sense, is useless.
@rooio3 You are trying to use your evidence/logic to deal with an illogical feeling Your sources of ancient writings are just as obscure as any other For Me I will choose the Illogical just call me Faithful and Convicted You can never change My mind So save your FACTS for someone else
@CJTELE- The evidence is old and not mine. Who's to think you would recognize it anyway? You believe what you want to be true. It isn't merely ancient writings that disprove many things in the bible. That's the point. That is what make it illogical.
@CJTELE- "You are trying to use your evidence/logic to deal with an illogical feeling"- it is illogical not to accept that someone can ascend to a heavenly realm? Like Hercules? Yet logical for jesus. Right. Illogical not to believe an a end-time savior figure will revive the dead and bring about a final renovation, like Saoshyant from the 6th century, yet logical for jesus who came much later? Illogical to believe the earlier Sumerian flood story of an ark, yet the latter noah's is?
also many times in his Annals. Like jesus, there is no artifacts, writings during his lifetime, or eyewitnesses. All information is hearsay. Simply because ancient historians mention them or we have stories and beliefs about them, is not enough to constitute a historical person. Facts derive out of evidence, not from hearsay, not from hubris scholars, and certainly not from faithful believers. Even if an actual person associated with the jesus character lived, it does not prove any myths.
historical person as jesus. Hercules traveled the earth as a mortal helping mankind and performed miraculous deeds, died, rose to mt olympus and became a god. He was believed to be a real person at the time, stories circulated about him, he was worshiped in temples. There were historical people like Hesiod, Plato, and Aesop who mention hercules in their writings. Even Joesphus mentions him in the same work of Antiquities he mentions jesus, more times than jesus. Tacitus mentions him
Jesus lifetime and wrote Antiquities after the first gospels were written. So the same apply to him. Pulling from circulating material. That is not extra-biblical evidence and forming opinions on stories and writings circulating around certainly bring no credibility for jesus as a historical person. The only thing historical are the STORIES formed of him. Lack of historical documents do not mean supernatural events in ancient stories are true. If that's the case, Hercules is as much a
Justin, you are aware that none of the gospels were originally attributed to any authors, right? They were found anonymous. Authors portrayed were the influence of early church fathers. Even christian scholars know that. No one knows who actually wrote any of them. Tacitus birthdate put him well after Jesus alleged lifetime, and wrote Annals during the formation of christianity, showing he could have easily pulled circulating material at that time. And of course Josephus too was born after
People who want evidence are not prepared to accept God on Faith alone As Christians we are comitted To Faith We are not asked to find evidence We are asked to be evidence. You need not answer to non believers Their minds are closed to repentance
@CJTELE- the only problem is there is evidence AGAINST biblical stories. Archeology has shown to be dismissive of many biblical stories, particularly dealing with the first 5 books of the old testament, and that causes problems for latter books. And in the realm of molecular biology and genetics, it further dismisses certain biblical accounts. So one could easily say a believer's mind is closed to reality. Faith is not enough to make something true.
@rooio3 I do not care to hear your evidence I offer you no evidence in the physical realm I said Faith Alone There will never be evidence to settle the differences between believers and non believers I don't trip on you I was only telling the young guy to look out For there is no physical evidence and in fact the Bible sounds foolish to people who don't believe
@CJTELE-yes, there is plenty of physical evidence specifically against claims in the bible, whether you choose to be willfully ignorant or not. It won't go away. That's why the bible sounds foolish. It says things that are shown to be a lie. I do think believers will continue believing myths despite the evidence if they want it to be true for them. Reality, however, is a different story.
@CJTELE- Faith can make a person highly gullible and easily influenced. It's how most stories, myths, & legends spread in ancient civilization. It isn't something that should be held to high esteem. The difference now from then is that things can be tested, we have greater knowledge then ancient people, more access to things in many fields they lacked.
@Xchampx " Is the word of god" wheres your evdence of this brute assertion? Also what do you mean god? No i'm asking what are the funtions or character of god, my question is what is god? If you don't answer with a positive ontology, your claim can't be verified nor be rational or coherent! You might as well claim blahweh exists!
non believers have no problem with the journals of Julius Caesar on his victories in Gaul There are 12 known documents about 1000 years old Same with Homer about 670 documents about 1000 years There are 5700 documents of the New Testament dating back as far as the 2nd century AD yet those are in dispute Paul said To the nonbelievers the gospel will appear as foolishness He was right Truth is those who choose not to trust in God will not be turned by evidence Grace opens closed eyes
Paul never met Jesus. So his writings aren't evidence. Your slip of the tongue was interesting BTW. Christians tend to rely way more on the apologetics of Paul than the words of Christ himself. And Paul did some serious twisting of Jsus' teachings to sell it to whoever he tried to sell them to. He even made things up himself.
"made things up himself" can you tell me what he made up?
And too me, it doesnt make heaps of sense as he had no upside in twisting it, no motivation as things just got worse for him the more he spread the gospel
