This is the gold standard! I shall never forget the opening of the 5th door the first time I heard this recording (Also the first time I heard the opera). There are no words for it - electrifying is as close as I can come, but yet inadequate. This is one of the very greatest operas of the 20th century and this recording is unlikely ever to be equaled.

The best Bluebeard's Castle on record. Ludwig and Berry are both great.
