@NAshMAbu, Although Mary indeed was human just like us, she does differ from us. See, she was born without sin. God didn't simply choose just anyone to carry his beloved son. But a worthy woman. One born without blemish. With the whole worship thing, Catholics do NOT worship Mary. Catholics simply honor her. She is also in the book of revelations if you haven't found that out either Rev 12, 1-6. Same goes for all the angles and saints. they are an example of christian living for us.

Fantastic ideas, but that's not what I've SEEN of the catholic church. It seems to me that the catholic church has taken the bible and while they do preach "Jesus died for your sins" they also put The Church before God and Jesus. Any group that would repeatedly hide and allow child molestation to occur is not God's Church. There are people who do BAD things in any group, that's not the point. The point is, if the church is our moral example, I'd rather do without it and turn to the bible.
I grew up in the catholic church, personally knew a kid who was sexually molested by a priest (knew because he later committed suicide). I was abused by a nun in catholic school. If the church is supposed to BE a moral example for us explain to me why they have repeatedly hidden these types of child abuse -- and not just kept the priests from being prosecuted, but switch them to a different parish so they can do it again???

I believe you've missed his point and taken his words out of context. The point is believing in the preaching of peace made by Jesus, but not in the bigotry and violence Christians have interpreted it as. He's trying to tell people that if they are following the words of peace, charity, and admiration for others with hate and violence, they are not following those words.

What if I told you Peter was not a rock? What if I told you that if you refer to a person as 'something' that you use the term, you, rather than 'this'? @Soulrogue1994 I'm no religious expert, but I think they're refering to the fact that most Christian denomenations split from the Catholic church (after the Reformation and all). Again, I'm no expert so no need to be mad at me for attempting too clear the air, but Catholics believe that Jesus handed the church to Peter and Peter became the leader of the Christian church in a sense. So follwers of Peter were follwers of Christ which then (I think) became known as Catholics.

The problem I have with Catholicism is simple: too many rituals. How can coming together every Sunday and repeating the same set of words (i am referring to the Mass) be considered worship?! When I see mass being celebrated, I see a bunch of robots mechanically churning out empty words with no heart or passion. It's just like a chore.
Why the rosary? Matt 6:7. Jesus tells us not to pray repetitively! Yet the rosary consists of a whole chain of repeated prayers and most of them to Mary!?!
Any prayer from the heart, repetitive or otherwise, is acceptable to God. How many times should we repeat “I love you” to our Heavenly Father? The matter then is not repetition, but vain repetition.
@aortablue In the rosary, we ask Mary to pray for us to help us through our struggles. As for rituals, Jesus was a Jew. Judaism has just as many, if not more, rituals than Catholicism. He practiced these rituals (i.e. keeping kosher, Shabbat, saying Kaddish, etc.). Without rituals, organized religion falls apart. Every tradition is important. As for the Mass being meaningless, it is far from it. Mass is one of the focal points of faith. It connects us to Jesus more than anything else on earth.

@Stairc Levitical Law, like other Old Testament Laws, are very important. We need the Old Testament to lead us into the New Testament.
The "ceremonial laws" (observing the Sabbath, certain ways of worship like animal sacrifice, circumcision, etc..) and the "dietary laws" (not to eat pork, shell fish etc...) are no longer valid. These laws have been "fulfilled" by Jesus.

Jesus wanted to build a church that would grow with time. This is seen in Scripture! Well, Matthew 5:17: “Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets. I have come not to abolish but to fulfill.”

Church (or the ACTUAL word, ecclesia) is the congregation, not the building. The building is man-made, as is religion. The congregation is the movement called Christianity.
I'm Catholic and I agree with the points of both videos. Why is this a big debate? Both are speaking words that would be accepted in any Christian church. They're both telling you what being a Christian really is, one is calling it religion and the other views it as something greater. Neither is wrong, when it comes down to it Christianity is classified as a religion, but basically you are arguing over what to call Christianity, to Christians it's obvioulsy going to feel like something greater.
Christianity make us feel guilty for something that we have already been forgiven for. What's the point on dwelling on your wrongs if He doesn't? Jesus tells us to follow Him because he wants us to be saved, not do as He did. He loves us, he does not look down on us for being human. He created us in his image, and loves us because of our flaws. Do you hate someone after you forgive them completely? No. Jesus doesn't either. It creates nothing if we dwell on our guilt. Again, I'm no expert so no need to be mad at me for attempting too clear the air, but Catholics believe that Jesus handed the church to Peter and Peter became the leader of the Christian church in a sense. So follwers of Peter were follwers of Christ which then (I think) became known as Catholics.

The problem I have with Catholicism is simple: too many rituals. How can coming together every Sunday and repeating the same set of words (i am referring to the Mass) be considered worship?! When I see mass being celebrated, I see a bunch of robots mechanically churning out empty words with no heart or passion. It's just like a chore.
Why the rosary? Matt 6:7. Jesus tells us not to pray repetitively! Yet the rosary consists of a whole chain of repeated prayers and most of them to Mary!?!

@aortablue In the rosary, we ask Mary to pray for us to help us through our struggles. As for rituals, Jesus was a Jew. Judaism has just as many, if not more, rituals than Catholicism. He practiced these rituals (i.e. keeping kosher, Shabbat, saying Kaddish, etc.). Without rituals, organized religion falls apart. Every tradition is important. As for the Mass being meaningless, it is far from it. Mass is one of the focal points of faith. It connects us to Jesus more than anything else on earth.

The "ceremonial laws" (observing the Sabbath, certain ways of worship like animal sacrifice, circumcision, etc..) and the "dietary laws" (not to eat pork, shell fish etc...) are no longer valid. These laws have been "fulfilled" by Jesus.

catholic religion was not created by jesus, but by Rome. to keep power over the people. jesus was a jew and died a jew. he at no time ever said he was not a jew. his new church was to be a version of the jewish faith. that was till saul saw the light and became paul, took over the jesus jewish church, and made it .the roman catholic church. which means it has no connection to god , only through jesus = judaisum can you enter heven. catholics are under Rome's law. not jesus or Gods. think !!!!!!

Religion was not started by Jesus. Religion is something man made, and there have been MANY religions before Jesus came. Jesus came to FULFILL that religion and to teach people how to be close to God. Jesus wants us to be close to God and love each other. Religion is flawed. Jesus is perfect. Catholicism especially strikes me as flawed (seriously, you have to pray through someone else, A human NO LESS (a saint is a human, and so was Mary) to talk to god? Wow. what a close relationship!).
